Wound healing activity of Abroma augusta in Wistar rats

Objective:the study was undertaken to evaluate the wound healing profile of alcoholic extract of Abroma augusta and its effect on dexamethasone suppressed wound healing in Wistar ***:An alcoholic extract of Abroma augusta was *** models were used - incision,excision and dead space wound models. Four groups of animals were used for each *** were administered 2%gum acacia(orally),alcoholic extract of Abroma augusta(orally),dexamethasone(intramuscularly) and combination of Abroma augusta(orally) with dexamethasone(intramuscularly) *** parameters studied included breaking strength of incision wound,period of epithelization and wound contraction rate in the excision wound,breaking strength,dry weight and hydroxyproline content of granulation tissue in dead space ***:the breaking strength of incision wound of Abroma augusta treated group was significantly increased(P that of dexamethasone treated animals was significantly decreased(Pto control. Objective:to evaluate the antiinflammatory activity of orally administered ethanolic extract of tephrosia purpurea in acute and subacute inflammation in ***:An ethanolic extract of tephrosia purpurea was *** induced paw edema and cotton pellet granuloma were the models for acute and subacute inflammation *** groups of rats in each model were treated orally with 2%gum acacia,100 mg /kg of aspirin,500 mg/kg and 1 000 mg/kg of ethanolic extract of tephrosia purpurea *** carrageenan induced paw edema model, subplantar injection of 1%carrageenan was made into the hind paw of the rats sixty minutes after the administration of the respective *** paw volume was measured immediately after injection of carrageenan,at 3 hours and at 6 *** percentage inhibition of edema was *** the cotton pellet granuloma model,animals were administered drugs for six days after placing cotton pellets in the axilla on each *** the 7th day,dry weight of granuloma was ***:the rats treated with tephrosia purpurea did not exhibit any significant decrease in paw volume and serum ceruloplasmin levels as compared to the control and aspirin treated groups in the acute inflammation model;while,there was a significant(P < 0.01) decrease in the weight of granuloma in tephrosia purpurea and aspirin treated groups as compared to control in subacute ***:the ethanolic extract of orally administered tephrosia purpurea shows significant antiinflammatory effect in subacute inflammation but not in acute inflammation in rats.

Inhibition Effects of Chloroquinolines on Corrosion of Mild Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Solution

the corrosion inhibition efficiencies of four compounds namely N-[（1E）-（2-chloroquinolin-3-yl）methylene]-N-phenylamine（CQMA）,N-（1E）-（2-chloroquinolin-3-yl）methylene]-N-（4-fluorophenyl）amine（CQMFA）,N-（4-chloro phenyl）-N-[（1E）-（2-chloroquinolin-3-yl）methylene]amine（CQMCA）,and N-（4-bromo phenyl）-N-[（1E）-（2-chloroquinolin-3-yl）methylene]amine（CQMBA）on mild steel corrosion in hydrochloric acid media were investigated using mass loss,potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance *** all the studied inhibitors the inhibition efficiency values were found to increase with increasing concentration up to 5.00×10-4 mol·*** electron microscopic technique showed the formation of a thick film on the steel surface in the presence of inhibitors.

Optimization of Welding Parameters for Friction Stir Lap Welding of AA6061-t6 Alloy

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is currently used in many aircraft and aerospace sheet metal structures involving lap joints and there has been growing interest in recent years in utilizing this process for joining aluminum alloys. In this paper, Friction Stir Lap Welding (FSLW) of the 6061-t6 aluminum alloy was carried out to obtain the optimum welding condition for maximum shear strength where the rotational speed, axial load, and welding speed were taken as process parameters. An L-9 orthogonal array, a taguchi Method with consideration of three levels and three factors was designed and executed for conducting trials. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Signal to Noise (S/N) ratio were employed to investigate the influence of different welding parameters on the shear strength and obtain the optimum parameters. the Fisher-test was also implemented to find the design parameter which had the most important effect on the characteristic of quality. the results indicated that the tool rotational speed had the maximum percentage contribution (51%) on the response (shear strength) followed by the welding speed (38%) and the axial load (8%) while the percentage of error was 3%. However, to confirm the main effects for the means and S/N ratios of the experiment, theoretical shear strength values were computed to predict the tensile strength. the maximum shear strength of 60 MPa was achieved and the effectiveness of the method was confirmed. the optimum parameter combinations that provided higher shear strength were: rotational speed of 1200 rpm, welding speed of 45 mm/min and the axial load of 11.5 kN.
