Eco friendly adsorbents for removal of phenol from aqueous solution employing nanoparticle zero-valent iron synthesized from modified green tea bio-waste and supported on silty clay

the present research investigated a novel route for the synthesis of nanoparticle zero-valent iron(NZVI)utilizing an aqueous extract of green tea waste as a reductant with ferric ***,the supported nanoparticle zerovalent iron was synthesized using natural silty clay as a support material(SC-NZVI).the NZVI and SC-NZVI were characterized by infrared spectroscopy(FtIR),scanning electron microscope(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Brunauer–Emmett–teller(BEt),and zeta potential(ζ).the interpretation of the results demonstrated that the polyphenol and other antioxidants in green tea waste can be used as reduction and capping agents in NZVI synthesis,with silty clay an adequate ***,the experiments were carried out to explore phenol adsorption by NZVI and *** determine the optimum conditions,the impact of diverse experimental factors(i.e.,initial pH,adsorbent dose,temperature,and concentration of phenol)was ***,Freundlich,and tempkin isotherms were used as representatives of adsorption *** obtained results indicated that the adsorption processes for both NZVI and SC-NZVI well fitted by the Freundlich isotherm *** appropriateness of pseudofirstorder and pseudosecondorder kinetics was *** experimental kinetics data were good explained by the second-order *** thermodynamic parameters(ΔH0,ΔS0,andΔG0)for NZVI and SC-NZVI were *** maximum removal rates of phenol at optimum conditions,when adsorbed onto NZVI and SC-NZVI,were found to be 94.8%and 90.1%,respectively.

Numerical Examination of a Cavity Containing Nanofluid with an Upper Oscillating Wall and Baffle

the cavity with lid-driven is greatly used in mixing,coating,and drying applications and is a substantial issue in the study of thermal performance rate and fluid field.A numerical approach is presented to study the thermal distribution and passage of fluid in a lid-driven cavity with an upper oscillating surface and an attached *** walls of a cavity at the left and right were maintained at 350 and 293 K,*** upper oscillating surface was equipped with a variable height to baffle to increase the convection of the three kinds of tiO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3),andCuO nanofluids with various of 0.4,0.8,and 0.4,0.8,and 1.2 vol.%in volume *** was found that using a baffle attached to the oscillating upper surface of the cavity will lead to improving the distribution of vorticity in the cavity and increase the stream in the ***,increasing the baffle height,oscillating velocity,and volume fraction of nanoparticles contributes to enhancing the Nusselt number values by 50%for increasing baffle height from h∗=0.1 to ***,the Nu improved by 20%for increasing oscillating velocity from w=05 to 20 rad/s and by 12%for using Al_(2)O_(3)nanofluid instead of tiO3 atϕ=0.8 vol.%.

Adsorption isotherm mechanism of amino organic compounds as mild steel corrosion inhibitors by electrochemical measurement method

the inhibition ability of 4-amino-5-phenyl-4H-1, 2, 4-trizole-3-thiol （APtt）, ethylenediaminetetra-acetic acid （EDtA） and thiourea （tU） for mild steel corrosion in 1.0 moFL HC1 solution at 30 ℃ was investigated. tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） were used to investigate the influence of these organic compounds as corrosion inhibitors of mild steel in 1.0 mol/L HC1 solution at 30 ℃. the inhibition mechanism was discussed in terms of Langrnuir isotherm model. Results obtained from tafel polarization and impedance measurements are in a good agreement. the inhibition efficiency increases with the increase of the inhibitor concentration. the adsorption of the inhibitors on the mild steel surface follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm and the free energy of adsorption AGads indicates that the adsorption of APtt, EDtA, and tU molecules is a spontaneous process and a typical chemisorption.

EFFICIENt tIME DOMAIN ANALYSIS of ARBItRARILY SHAPED CONDUCtING WIRE StRUCtURES

We developed an efficient analysis the current induced in the wire structure. the analysis based on the time-Domain Integral Equation, in which a thin wire approximation is used. the time-domain electric field integral equation is used with the moment method to develop a numerical procedure for treating problems of scattering by arbitrary shaped bodies. We present an efficient numerical method for calculating the electromagnetic scattering from arbitrary shaped conducting bodies in the time domain with a comprehensive treatment of a single, straight thin wire. A time domain electric field integral equation is formulated for the problem of an arbitrary shape. the solution method is based on the moment method to solve the straight thin-wire problem.

Assessment of Knowledge and Attitude in a Sample of Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Its Association with Disease Activity and Severity: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic and disabling disease that has a major impact on the lives of patients. Objectives: to test the patients’ knowledge about their disease, its treatment, its complications, and if this affects severity of the disease as measured by the disease activity index (DAS 28). Patients and Methods: A sample of 100 patients with RA who met the Criteria of American College of Rheumatology for RA agreed to participate in this study over the period September 2011-March 2012. Patients’ data were obtained by personal interview. the questionnaire included demographic characteristics and the patients’ knowledge about their disease. the disease activity was measured using standard (DAS28). Results: thirty three percent of the patients didn’t have an idea about their disease, 20% didn’t know the reason for the investigations, 49% didn’t know the treatment and 40% didn’t know the side effects of their medications. Most patients had a high disease activity index, and there was a poor correlation between patients’ educational level and the disease activity. Conclusions: Neither the educational level nor the frequency of hospital admissions had effects on the knowledge about this disease. As most patients had a high disease activity, a better knowledge may improve disease control and prevent complications.

Studying Different Etching Methods Using CR-39 Nuclear track Detector

In this research we try to investigate the optimum etching time for the tracks originate in (CR-39) solid state nuclear track detector after irradiated with alpha source (241Am) using three different etching techniques: the traditional method (water bath), microwaves and ultrasound devices. the track etching parameters: bulk etch rate (VB), track etch rate (Vt), track etch rate ratio evaluates (V), critical angle (θC), and etching efficiency (η) were calculated in this research. It’s seen that the optimum etching time was ranging with (60 - 150 min), (20 - 30 min) and (60 - 120 min) when etching with water bath, microwave and ultrasound respectively. Also we observed that the critical angle was (24.29) when etching CR-39 detector with microwave. this value is lower than the critical angles values for the detector etched with water bath or ultrasound;thus it can be the optimum magnitude because its decrease leads to increasing the number of the tracks appeared in the detector and the etching efficiency.

目的:评估前房注射0.1%莫西沙星联合结膜下注射4 mg曲安奈德预防白内障超声乳化术后感染和炎症的疗效,并与局部滴药组比较。方法:共纳入1000例,平均年龄38～70岁,全部行超声乳化术的患者分为两组,两组在年龄、术前眼压(IOP)和中心黄斑厚度(CMt)方面无显著差异,分别为P=0.6,P=0.9和P=0.8。对照组患者500例,术后1mo每日4次局部应用0.5%盐酸莫西沙星和0.1%地塞米松滴眼液。研究组在手术结束时,前房注入0.1%莫西沙星0. 4 m L联合4 mg曲安奈德结膜下注射。随访时间为术后1d、1wk、1mo和3mo。检查4次前房反应,测量3次眼压,最后一次测量CMt。结果:该临床试验研究中两组人群分别应用不同的预防方法,两组无眼内炎病例发生。通过两样本t检验,术后1d,研究组前房细胞显著低于对照组,而术后1wk、1mo和3mo两组间无统计学差异。在第3mo随访时,两组间眼压和中心黄斑厚度无明显差异。对照组炎症发生率为9.6%,研究组为4%。对照组在1mo时眼压升高≥10 mmHg患者占2. 4%,显著高于研究(0.8%)。结论:白内障术后联合应用前房内莫西沙星和结膜下曲安奈德可有效预防感染和炎症,并且大多数(480例)患者不需其它任何外用药物,这为患者节省了成本,并帮助降低无法实施局部用药的病人并发症的几率与依从性差的患者术后不良药物反应。

Green synthesis,antimicrobial and cytotoxic effects of silver nanoparticles using Eucalyptus chapmaniana leaves extract

Objective:to synthesize silver nanopaticles from leaves extract of Eucalyptus chapmaniana(***)and test the antimicrobial of the nanoparticles against different pathogenic bacteria,yeast and its toxicity against human acute promyelocytic leukemia(HL-60)cell ***:ten milliliter of leaves extract was mixed with 90 mL of 0.01 mmol/mL or 0.02 mmol/mL aqueous AgNO_3 and exposed to sun light for 1 h.A change from yellowish to reddish brown color was *** using UV-vis spectrophotometery and X-ray diffraction analysis were *** activity against six microorganisms was tested using well diffusion method and cytoxicity test using 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide,a yellow tetrazole was obtained on the human leukemia cell line(HL-60).Results:UV-vis spectral analysis showed silver surface plasmon resonance band at 413 nm.X-ray diffraction showed that the particles were crystalline in nature with face centered cubic structure of the bulk silver with broad beaks at 38.50°and 44.76°.the synthesized silver nanoparticles efficiently inhibited various pathogenic organisms and reduced viability of the HL-60 cells in a dose-dependent ***:It has been demonstrated that the extract of *** leaves are capable of producing silver nanoparticles extracellularly and the Ag nanoparticles are quite stable in *** studies are needed to fully characterize the toxicity and the mechanisms involved with the antimicrobial and anticancer activity of these particles.
