The sandstones of the Late miocene–Pliocene Dibdibba Formation in the Najaf–Karbala Plateau and basra were examined to determine their source rocks and origin. The rare earth elements(REE) and trace elements(Sc, Co, V, and Th) concentrations in these sandstones revealed that they likely derived from a single source. The steep light rare earth elements(LREE) and flat, heavy rare earth element(HREE) patterns, negative Eu anomaly, and high ΣREE contents in sandstones suggest its derivation from a suggests that a passive continental margin environment and originated from felsic source rocks. The average concentration of ΣREE is 93.5 ppm, which is lower than that of the average crustal compositions like Upper Continental Crust and Post Archean Australian Shale. The higher proportion of LREE compared to HREE implies that these sandstones were recycled and derived from a distal source. The Th/Co, Th/Sc, La/Sc, La/Co, Eu/Eu*and(La/Lu)cn elemental ratios indicated that these Late miocene–Pliocene sandstones were derived from felsic rocks located in the marginal region of the Arabian Shield.

Deficit irrigation is critical to global food production,particularly in arid and semi-arid regions with low *** water shortage has threatened agricultural sustainability under the dry-land farming system in China,there is an urgent need to develop effective water-saving *** carried out a field study under two cultivation techniques:(1) the ridge and furrow cultivation model(R);and(2) the conventional flat farming model(F),and three simulated precipitation levels(1,275 mm;2,200 mm;3,125 mm) with two deficit irrigation levels(150 and 75 mm).We demonstrated that under the ridge furrow(R) model,rainfall harvesting planting under 150 mm deficit irrigation combined with 200 mm simulated precipitation can considerably increase net photosynthesis rate(P_(n)),quantum yield of PSII(ΦPSⅡ),electron transport rate(ETR),performance index of photosynthetic PSII(F_(v)/F_(m)′),and transformation energy potential of PSII(F_(v)/F_(o)).In addition,during the jointing,anthesis and grain-filling stages,the grain and biomass yield in the R model are 18.9 and 11.1% higher than those in the flat cultivation model,respectively,primarily due to improved soil water *** winter wheat fluorescence parameters were significantly positively associated with the photosynthesis,biomass and wheat *** result suggests that the R cultivation model with irrigation of 150 mm and simulated precipitation of 200 mm is an effective planting method for enhancing P_(n),biomass,wheat production,and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in dry-land farming areas.

Plants are the ultimate source of nutrients in the human diet. To ensure adequate availability of high quality food for an increasing world population, traits including improved tolerance of stresses and nutrient levels need to be selected in crops, both individually and in combination. Here we report the identification of SImX1 encoding a mIXTA-like mYB transcription factor in tomato that simultaneously modulates drought resistance and metabolic processes through regulating key structural and regulatory genes of the corre- sponding pathways. Over-expression of SImX1 results in substantially increased drought tolerance and improved fruit quality, while knocking down SImX1 resulted in the opposite phenotypes. Our study indicates an effective way with multiplebeneficial traits by genetic engineering of a single regulatory gene and can be a novel approach to breeding crops.

Spinel ferrites have a significant role in high-tech *** the present work nano-crystalline ferrites having general formula Co0.5Cd0.5BixFe2-xO4 with(x=0.0,0.05,0.1,0.15,0.2,and 0.25)are synthesized via micro-emulsion *** x-ray diffraction(XRD)studies discover the FCC spinel *** size is calculated in a range of 11 nm-15 *** parameter calculations are reduced due to its substitution which leads to the exchange of large ionic radius of Fe^3+for small ionic radius of Bi^3+.The x-ray density is analyzed to increase with *** transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)is performed to analyze absorption band *** two absorption bands are observed in a range of 400 cm^-1-600 cm^-1,and they are the characteristic feature of spinel ***-gravimetric analysis(TGA)reveals the total weight loss of nearly 1.98%.Dielectric analysis is carried out by impedance analyzer in a frequency span from 1 mHz to 3 GHz by using the maxwell Wagner *** studies reveal the decrease of dielectric *** alternating current(AC)conductivity exhibits a plane behavior in a low frequency range and it increases with the applied frequency *** is attributed to the grain effects in a high frequency range or may be due to the reduction of *** and imaginary part of impedance show the decreasing trend which corresponds to the grain boundary *** imaginary modulus shows the occurrence of peak that helps to understand the interfacial ***-Cole graph shows a single semicircle which confirms that the conduction mechanism is due to the grain boundaries at low *** studies reveal the applicability of these ferrites in high frequency equipment,microwave applications,high storage media,and semiconductor devices.

Cobalt-silicon based carbon composites(Co–Si/C)have established a noteworthy consideration in recent years as a replacement for conventional materials in the automotive and aerospace *** achieve the composite,a reactive melt infiltration process(RmI)is used,in which a melt impregnates a porous preform by capillary *** method promises a high-volume fraction of reinforcement and can be steered in such a way to get the good“near-net”shaped components.A mathematical model is developed using reaction-formed Co–Si alloy/C composite as a prototype system for this *** wetting behavior and contact angle are discussed;surface tension and viscosity are calculated by Wang’s and Egry’s equations,*** radii of 5μm and 10μm are set as a reference on highly oriented pyrolytic *** graphs are plotted using the model,to study some aspects of the infiltration *** highlights the possible connections among the various *** this attempt,the Co–Si(62.5 at.%silicon)alloy’s maximum infiltration at 5μm and 10μm radii are found as 0.05668 m at 125 s and 0.22674 m at 250 s,respectively.

CR-39 detectors have been exposed to a 5.9-meV antiproton beam using the low energy antiproton ring （LEAR） facility at CERN. At this energy, tracks of antiprotons appear in a CR-39 detector after 135 rain of etching in 6m NaOH at 70℃. Fluence of the antiproton beam has been determined using track density. We have also found tracks in the etched CR-39 detector at different depths （250-500μm）. These tracks have resulted from the annihilation of antiprotons with the constituents （H, C and O） of the CR-39 detector. The goal of the experiment is to develop a simple and low-cost method to study properties of antiparticles and those formed after annihilation of these particles with the target matter.

Following the discovery of the Higgs boson with a mass of approximately 125 GeV at the LHC, many studies have been performed from both the theoretical and experimental viewpoints to search for a new Higgs Boson that is lighter than 125 GeV. We explore the possibility of constraining a lighter neutral scalar Higgs boson hi and a lighter pseudo-scalar Higgs boson al in the Next-to-minimal Supersymmetric Standard model by restricting the next-to-lightest scalar Higgs boson h2 to be the one observed at the LHC after applying the phenomenological constraints and those from experimental measurements. Such lighter particles are not yet completely excluded by the latest results of the search for a lighter Higgs boson in the diphoton decay channel from LHC data. Our results show that some new constraints on the Next-to-minimal Supersymmetric Standard model could be obtained for a lighter scalar Higgs boson at the LHC if such a search is performed by experimental collaborations and more data. The potentials of discovery for other interesting decay channels of such a lighter neutral scalar or pseudo-scalar particle are also discussed.

In these studies the isotopic inventories and corresponding activities of important nuclides for different fuel cycles of a CANDU reactor have been compared. The calculations have been performed using the computer code WImSD4. The isotopic inventories and activities have been calculated versus the fuel burn-up for the natural UO2 fuel, 1.2% enriched UO2 fuel and for the 0.45% PuO2-UO2 fuel. It is found that 1.2% enriched uranium fuel has the lowest activity as compared to other two fuel cycles and vice versa for the 0.45% PuO2-UO2 fuel.
