Coupling system application in photocatalytic degradation of methylorange by TiO_2, TiO_2/SiO_2 and TiO_2/SiO_2/Ag

Three different photocatalysts including TiO2, TiO2/SiO2 and TiO2/SiO2/Ag were synthesized via sol–gel growth method, in which colloidal silica was used as Si source, titanium tetra iso-propoxide (TTiP) as titanium source, Ag+ as dopant ion and hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) as dispersant. The purpose was to study the enhancement of photocatalytic activity of TiO2 by deposition on SiO2 colloids and also doping with Ag ion. The catalysts were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) methods. It is confirmed that the major phase in all catalysts is anatase. Photocatalytic activity was studied in various conditions for degradation of methylorange (as a model pollutant) to evaluate the effect of some parameters on degradation efficiency. Studying the degradation process in various pH values reveals that the degradation is more efficient in acidic solution than alkaline condition. Coupling the photocatalytic process with some fields called electro-photochemical (EP), magnetic-photochemical (MP) and ultrasonic-photochemical (UP) was studied at two pH values which were compared with photochemical (P) alone. It is concluded that in most cases, the EP is the best coupled system and has the maximum efficiency. Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) analysis was used to check the complete decomposition of methylorange at the end of process.

Synthesis, Characterization, Spectroscopy and Study of Antimicrobial Properties of Two New Substituted Trichloroaluminate(Ⅲ) Complexes [AlCl_3X]^- (X = SCN^-, CN^-)

The synthesis and characterization of two new aluminate（Ⅲ） complexes with general formula K[AlCl3X] are reported. These compounds derived from aluminate trichloride and related salts. Potassium trichlorothiocyanoaluminate, PCTA, and potassium trichlorocyanatoalu-minate, PCCA, are two new ionic aluminate complexes. They can be easily synthesized in a nearly quantitative yield by using the direct reaction of AlCl3 and KX. The complexes were characterized by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. Theoretical calculations have been used for the extraction of structural and spectroscopic data of these new synthesized complexes. The antibacterial activities of such compounds were studied against the Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus Epidermidis, Estreptococo B and Shigella.

Elastic and optical properties of zinc-blende CrSb and its effective mass

The elastic, optical, and effective mass properties of CrSb in zinc-blende（ZB） phase were *** calculations were carried out using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital according to the density functional theory. The results of elastic calculations by generalized gradient approximation and local density approximation approximations indicate that ZB CrSb is a ductile material and its Debye temperature is rather low. Band structure and density of state calculations introduce the ZB CrSb as a half-metal with spin polarization of100 %. In metal state, 16 th and 17 th bands cut off the Fermi level. Calculations study the effective mass, Fermi velocity,and Fermi surface at 16 th and 17 th bands. In continue,optical quantities such as dielectric function, energy loss function, and optical conductivity were investigated.

The Asmari Formation deposited in the Zagros foreland basin during the ***,the Asmari Formation consists of limestone,dolomitic limestone,dolomite,argillaceous limestone,some anhydrite （Kalhur Member） and sandstones （Ahwaz Member）.This study is based on the analysis of core samples from four subsurface sections （wells Mn-68,Mn-281,Mn-292 and Mn-312） in the Marun Oilfieid in the Dezful embayment subzone in order to infer their provenance and tectonic setting of the Ahwaz Sandstone *** data reveal that the Ahwaz Sandstone comprises 97.5% quartz,1.6% feldspar,and 0.9% rock fragments and all samples are classified as quartz *** provenance and tectonic setting of the Ahwaz Sandstone have been assessed using integrated petrographic and geochemical *** analysis reveals that mono-and poly-crystalline quartz grains from metamorphic and igneous rocks of a craton interior setting were the dominant ***,major and trace element concentrations in the rocks of the Ahwaz Sandstone indicate deposition in a passive continental margin *** indicated by the CIW index （chemical index of weathering） of the Ahwaz Sandstone （average value of 82） their source area underwent ＂intense＂ recycling but ＂moderate to high＂ degree of chemical *** petrography and geochemistry results are consistent with a tropical,humid climate and low-relief highlands.

Drought Forecasting in a Semi-arid Watershed Using Climate Signals:a Neuro-fuzzy Modeling Approach

Large-scale annual climate indices were used to forecast annual drought conditions in the Maharlu-Bakhtegan watershed,located in Iran,using a neuro-fuzzy *** Standardized Precipitation Index(SPI) was used as a proxy for drought *** the 45 climate indices considered,eight identified as most relevant were the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO),Atlantic Meridional Mode(AMM),the Bivariate ENSO Time series(BEST),the East Central Tropical Pacific Surface Temperature(NINO 3.4),the Central Tropical Pacific Surface Temperature(NINO 4),the North Tropical Atlantic Index(NTA),the Southern Oscillation Index(SOI),and the Tropical Northern Atlantic Index(TNA).These indices accounted for 81% of the variance in the Principal Components Analysis(PCA) *** Atlantic surface temperature(SST:Atlantic) had an inverse relationship with SPI,and the AMM index had the highest *** forecasts of neuro-fuzzy model demonstrate better prediction at a two-year lag compared to a stepwise regression model.

Gap States of ZnO Thin Films by New Methods:Optical Spectroscopy,Optical Conductivity and Optical Dispersion Energy

The optical reflectance and transmittance spectra in the wavelength range of 300-2500 nm are used to compute the absorption coefficient of zinc oxide films annealed at different post-annealing temperatures 400, 500 and 600°*** values of the cross point between the curves of the real and imaginary parts of the optical conductivity ɑ_1 and ɑ_1 with energy axis of films exhibit values that correspond to optical gaps and are about 3.25-3.3 eV. The maxima of peaks in plots dR/dλ and dT/dλ versus wavelength of films exhibit optical gaps at about 3.12-3.25 *** values of the fundamental indirect band gap obtained from the Tauc model are at about 3.14-3.2 eV. It can be seen that films annealed at 600°C have the minimum indirect optical band gap at about 3.15 eV. The films annealed at 600°C have Urbach＇s energy minimum of 1.38 eV and hence have minimum disorder. The dispersion energy d of films annealed at 500°C has the minimum value of 43 eV.

Report of an unusual renal mass:Primary renal lymphoma——Difficult procedure for laparoscopic surgery

Diagnosis of primary renal lymphoma is important for the patients to receive appropriate *** nephrectomy should be the standard procedure in most cases of both malignant and benign,renal tumors with the possible exception of tumor>*** this case report of laparoscopic surgery of primary renal lymphoma is the first report of this kind and may be useful for the other laparoscopic surgeons.A 53 years-old man with unilateral primary renal lymphoma who had a history of renal colic and ESWL(Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy) of the left kidney stone 3 years ago,he underwent laparoscopic radical left nephrectomy and chemotherapy. The patient was monitored for follow up for 4 months and had a significant *** treatment of lymphoma is now guided by phenotype of tumor,we found that appropriate treatment is possible after radical nephrectomy and assessment of *** lesions may compeletly regress by appropriate *** was not any report of laparoscopic surgery of PRL in our *** are reporting the first case of successful laparoscopic surgery of PRL successfully.

Short-term effectiveness of radiochemoembolization for selected hepatic metastases with a combination protocol

AIM:To introduce the combination method of radio-chemoembolization for the treatment of selected hepatic metastases. METHODS:Twenty patients with biopsy proven hepatic metastases were selected from those who underwent transarterial radiochemoembolization, a novel combination protocol, between January 2009 and July 2010. Patients had different sources of liver metastasis. The treatment included transarterial administration of three chemotherapeutic drugs (mitomycin, doxorubicin and cisplatin), followed by embolization with large (50-150 μm) radioisotope particles of chromic 32P. Multiphasiccomputer tomography or computer tomography studies, with and without contrast medium injections, were performed for all patients for a short-term period before and after the treatment sessions. The short-term effec-tiveness of this procedure was evaluated by modified response evaluation criteria in solid tumors (mRECIST), which also takes necrosis into account. The subjective percentage of necrosis was also assessed. The response evaluation methods were based on the changes in size, number, and the enhancement patterns of the lesions between the pre-and post-treatment imaging studies. RESULTS:Patients had liver metastasis from colorectal carcinomas, breast cancer, lung cancer and carcinoid tumors. The response rate based on the mRECIST criteria was 5% for complete response, 60% for partial response, 10% for stable disease, and 25% for progressive disease. Regarding the subjective necrosis percentage, 5% of patients had complete response, 50% had partial response, 25% had stable disease, and 20% had progressive disease. Based on traditional RECIST criteria, 3 patients (15%) had partial response, 13 patients (65%) had stable disease, and 4 patients (20%) had disease progression. In most patients, colorectal carcinoma was the source of metastasis (13 patients).
