Objective:To analyze trends of dengue incidences and deaths in Malaysia from 2000 to 2010 as well as the predominant dengue virus serotypes during the last ***:We used the national data on annual reported cases,deaths,incidence rate,mortality rate,and case fatality rate of dengue fever(DF) and dengue hemorrhagic fever(DHF) as well as dengue virus serotypes prevalent in Malaysia during the last ***/ regression lines were fitted to investigate the trend of dengue incidences and deaths due to the disease for a 11-year period(2000-2010).For the distribution of national incidence rate,mortality rate,and case fatality rate of DF and DHF, descriptive statistics using mean and 95%confidence intervals(C/) for means,and range were ***:The number of dengue cases and number of deaths have increased,on average, by 14%and 8%per year *** average annual incidence rate of DF per 100 000 populations was higher as compared to that of ***,the yearly mean mortality rate of DHF per 100 000 populations was greater than that of *** simultaneous circulation of all four dengue serotypes has been found in *** a particular dengue virus serotype predominates for at least two years before it becomes replaced by another ***: The dengue situation in Malaysia has worsened with an increasing number of reported oases and deaths during the last *** increasing trend of dengue highlights the need for a more systematic surveillance and reporting of the disease.

Objective:To investigate the elemental composition of the leaves and flowers of Catharanthus roseus(***) due to the plant's wide application in the indigenous medicinal system and its chemical constituents' ***:The atomic absorption spectrophotometer was used for quantitative analysis of various ***:Total 13 important elements were analyzed in leaves and flowers of *** indicated the presence of Na,K,Ca,Mg,Cr,Fe,Zn,Al,Cu,Ni,Pb,Cd and Mn in both leaves and *** most important finding of the work was that,leaves of *** showed high concentration of all elements except K and Zn while flowers of *** showed higher concentration of K and ***:The elemental composition in both leaves and flowers of *** were found to be ***,different parts of this medicinal plant are enriched in some micro and macro nutrients like Fe,Ca,Na,K,Zn,which are very important for biological metabolic system as well as human health.

对女性的性别歧视是经济文献中讨论最多的话题之一。歧视表现在从家庭到经济各个层面以及生活的不同阶段。在过去的几年,人们对此已经采取有效措施并且相关国际组织和国家也接受了有关决议。但是,只有少数国家真正在为实现相对高标准的性别平等而努力着。全球的大部分地区,妇女在按照工作岗位获得报酬的同时也受到歧视,这就是所谓的“工资歧视”。并且全球都在讨论这个问题,甚至一些国家开始实施严格的政策抵制工资歧视,并确保工作场所女性的“同工同酬”。但是,在欧洲的一些国家,这个问题仍然是不可改变的,或者说改进是微乎其微的。在本文中,我调查了阿塞拜疆劳动市场对女性的工资歧视。阿塞拜疆在过去15年中经历了巨大的经济增长。尽管女性参与劳动力市场的比例越来越高,但工资差距仍然很大,随着国家工资的上涨而变得更大。这个问题从来都不是政府关注的焦点。缺乏实证研究同样是这个问题没有引起重视的原因。使用普通最小二乘法(OLS)和Blinder-Oaxaca分解方法我调查了阿塞拜疆的住户调查数据集,尤其是首都巴库。巴库是阿塞拜疆的主要经济中心,拥有全国近一半的人口。所以自然,劳动力和企业的基础也都在巴库得到沉淀。因此,巴库是进行个人调查并得出可信结论的最佳选择。我们发现阿塞拜疆存在对女性的工资歧视。此外,显而易见,教育程度明显影响性别工资差距,女性教育水平提高不会面临工资歧视。最后,结果显示,已婚女性在阿塞拜疆受到更多歧视。

The southern part of the Eastern Desert of Egypt—about 30 km southwest of Abu-Ramad city—is mainly covered by ophiolitic rocks(Sul Hamed), island arc assemblage, younger granites(muscovite granites of Qash Amer and two mica granites of El Sela), and various acidic and basic dikes. Field, petrological, and geochemical studies indicate that the El Sela shear zone has been subject to hydrothermal and supergene alteration such as kaolinization, albitization, sericitization, and hematitization. It is invaded by quartz ENE–WSW veins associated with hydrothermal alteration accompanied by radioactive mineralization. The investigated younger granitic rocks had very low contents of compatible elements, such as Cr, Ni,and Co; and high contents of incompatible elements, such as Zr, and large ion lithophiles, such as Sr, especially in the El Sela shear zone. Major oxide and trace element analyses revealed calc-alkaline affinity and peraluminous *** highly differentiated granitic rocks' lower Zr/Hf and higher Y/Ho than the normal ratio are consistent with hydrothermal alteration. Most samples had rare earth element(REE)-patterns with an M-type tetrad effect in the first and fourth segments and a W-type tetrad in the third segment. The average ∑REE in the studied granites was lower than the world granite average; the ratio of light to heavy REEs greater. The main radioactive, uranium-bearing, and uraniferous Fe and Mn minerals are uranothorite,autunite, uranophane and autunite as compounds, kasolite,columbite, xenotime, uranophane-bearing zircon and jarosite, silver-bearing pyrite, hematite, and autunite-bearing pyrolusite.

What Would Vitruvius Do？ Re-thinking Architecture Education for the 21st Century University

In the 1996 AIA （American Institute of Architecture） Convention in Minneapolis, the governing bodies in the education and professionalization of architects in the US （namely, the American Institute of Architecture, American Institute of Architecture Students, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, National Architecture Accrediting Board and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture） released the Boyer Report, subsequently published as Building Community： A New Future for Architecture Education and Practice. The report was named in honor of Ernest Boyer, an educational theorist who also participated in writing the text. Less comprehensive than the canonical texts by Marcus Vitruvius Pollio and his interlocutors, it is nonetheless a mirror of our current assumptions about the education of the architect. This paper looks at the epistemology inherited from Vitruvius as it shapes pedagogy up and through the Boyer Report and into the 21 st century. Using a method of comparative analysis applied to past and current architecture programs, our argument is that historical divisions between professional or applied knowledge and liberal or theoretical knowledge inherited from the past limit our capacity within architecture education to integrate new strategies for knowledge creation and dissemination. It is concluded that any serious revision of architecture education means a systematic reconsideration of the basis of architecture knowledge. What of the （persistent） Vitruvian model is relevant in our post-modern condition？ What do we learn from the image of our profession projected through the lens of the Boyer Report and it is like？ In other words, what would Vitruvius do？

Enucleation and evisceration: indications, complications and clinicopathological correlations

·AIM: To assess main indications, postoperative complications and clinicopathological correlation of ocular enucleation-evisceration.·METHODS: A total of 107 subjects who underwent enucleation and/or evisceration and received hydroxyapatite implants(Scleral wrap or mesh) were assessed. For each patient clinicopathological data was collected which included demographic information,clinical history, primary clinical diagnosis, main cause of ophthalmic surgery(traumatic, non-traumatic), type of surgical procedure(enucleation, evisceration) and pathological report. Patients’ postoperative clinical visits were checked for procedure-related complications during first year after surgery.·RESULTS: One hundred and seven patients(male:65.4%; mean age: 26y) underwent enucleation(n=100) or evisceration(n =7) due to traumatic(n =41) and non-traumatic(n =66) causes. Disfiguring painful blind eye was the most common indication of surgery(66.4%),followed by leukocoria(19.6%) and endophthalmitis(4.7%). The main types of injury included firecracker,traffic and work accidents, and sharp object perforating injury. In 53(80.3%) subjects in non-traumatic group the initial clinical diagnosis matched the histopathologicalresults. Malignant tumors(retinoblastoma: 47.5%,malignant melanoma: 27.3%) were the most common pathological diagnoses followed by phthisis bulbi(25.8%).The most common procedure-related complications were major eye discharge(39.6%), and implant exposure and discharge(20.8%).·CONCLUSION: Trauma and malignant tumors are the leading causes of enucleation-evisceration. Despite developing new techniques and materials, enucleation is still associated with considerable postoperative complications.

In this study, 9 nm superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) were functionalized by polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer. Using tetracholoroauric acid (HAuCl4), magnetodendrimer (MD) samples were conjugated by gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs). Two different reducing agents, i.e. sodium borohydride and hydrazine sulfate, and pre-synthesized 10-nm Au-NP were used to evaluate the efficiency of conjugation method. The samples were characterized using X-ray diffractometry (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, UV-visible spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. The results confirmed that Au- NPs produced by sodium borohydrate and the pre-synthesized 10-nm Au-NPs were capped by MDs whereas the Au-NP prepared by hydrazine sulfate as a reducing agent was entrapped by MDs. Optical properties of the MDs were studied by laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy (LIF) within a wide range of visible spectrum. Also, based on the thermal analysis, all synthesized nanostructures exhibited a temperature increase using 488 nm and 514 nm wavelengths of a tunable argon laser. The new iron oxide-dendrimer-Au NPs synthesized by sodium borohydrate (IDA- NaBH4) produced the highest temperature increase at 488 nm whereas the other nanostructures particularly pure Au-NPs produced more heating effect at 514 nm. These findings suggest the potential application of these nanocomposites in the field of bioimaging, targeted drug delivery and controlled hyperthermia.

Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) is an important forage crop belonging to the Fabaceae family. It is cultivated across the world for fodder and originated in Asia. Alfalfa cultivar Regen-SY was used in this study which is a hybrid of first-generation self-parents from Regen-S (M. sativa) and Regen-Y (Medicago falcata) research cultivars. The main objective of the study was to optimize conditions for the isolation and liquid culture of alfalfa Regen-SY protoplasts. Several factors like enzyme combination, incubation time, plant age, centrifugation speed and shaker speed affecting protoplast isolation and culture were optimized in the study. The yield and viability of the protoplasts was determined by using hemocytometer and Fluorescein diacetate (FDA) staining respectively. Results showed that factors like enzyme combination, incubation time, plant age, centrifugation speed and Mannitol concentration significantly (p ≤ 0.05) affect protoplast yield and viability whereas shaker speed didn’t result in any significant difference in the yield and viability of protoplasts. Using optimum conditions protoplasts were cultured in the liquid medium and microcalli formation was achieved after five weeks of the culture. The protocol established in this study will assist researchers in the isolation and culture of protoplasts in alfalfa and will accelerate the research processes like protoplast fusion and genetic engineering.
