Phenol contaminated municipal wastewater treatment using date palm frond biochar:Optimization using response surface methodology

Phenol is classified as an emerging contaminant which can be very toxic even at low concentrations and should be removed from wastewaters before reaching the *** this study date palm frond and leaf were pyrolyzed at different temperatures to identify the best adsorbent(feedstock)and pyrolysis temperature to remove phenol from aqueous *** palm frond pyrolyzed at 600℃,termed DPF600,achieved the highest phenol removal rates of 64%and adsorption capacity of 15.93 mg/*** surface methodology approach using Box-Behnken design was implemented to obtain the optimal pH(6),contact time(20 h)and dosage(0.1 g)for the maximum phenol adsorption.A predicted adsorption capacity was found as 16.62 mg/g which was in close agreement with the experimental adsorption capacity of 17.38 mg/*** and kinetic models in both linear and non-linear forms indicated that Freundlich model(R^(2)=0.99,χ^(2)=0.02,RMSE=1.09)and pseudo-second order model(R^(2)=0.99,χ^(2)=0.85,RMSE=5.41)fit best the obtained experimental *** calculations affirmed that the adsorption of phenol onto DPF600 biochar was endothermic and *** point of zero charge was found to be at 6.5 for DPF600 *** electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction confirmed adsorption of phenol onto DPF600 *** of DPF600 biochar to remove phenol from synthetic primary and secondary treated wastewater samples achieved 60 and 85%removal rates and 241 mg/g and 22.28 mg/g adsorption capacities,*** studies showed promising adsorption capacities indicating the efficacy of DPF600 for the removal of phenol from wastewater.

Graham Higman posed the question: How small can the integers p and q be made, while maintaining the property that all but finitly many alternating and symmetric groups are factor groups of △(2, p, q)=(x,y: x^2=y^P=(xy)~q=1)? He proved that for a sufficiently large n, the alternating group is a homomorphic image of the triangle group △(2,p, q) where p=3 and q=7. Later, his result was generalized by proving the result for p=3 and q≥7. Choosing p=4 and q≥17 in this paper we have answered the "Hiqman Question".

Introduction:Evidence-based guidelines recommend primary percutaneous coronary intervention(PPCI)be the mainstay reperfusion strategy for the treatment of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)if it is per-formed in the proper time ***,the Egyptian health care system is still struggling to provide such an important *** aim of the present study,through a quantitative questionnaire,is to explore the current practice of STEMI management in Egypt,and to identify the barriers,opportunities,and potential areas for *** and Results:The questionnaire was conducted in Egypt via face-to-face qualitative in-depth interviews with cardiologists from 14 PPCI-capable hospitals and 26 non-PPCI-capable *** were selected in view of their experience and *** study identifi ed potential barriers to the implementation of PPCI among STEMI patients in *** barriers included the prehospital patient delay and emergency medical service delay,delay in the emergency department and delay in patient transfer to the CCU,unavailable equipment,catheterization laboratory activation delay,lack of trained interventional cardiologists,lack of regional STEMI networks and hospital policies,and insuffi cient ICU ***:Limited resources and health care system inadequacies have led to potential barriers that prevent sub-optimal implementation of PPCI in *** from all health care providers should be directed to overcome these identifi ed barriers.

Currently,the improvement in AI is mainly related to deep learning techniques that are employed for the classification,identification,and quantification of patterns in clinical *** deep learning models show more remarkable performance than the traditional methods for medical image processing tasks,such as skin cancer,colorectal cancer,brain tumour,cardiac disease,Breast cancer(BrC),and a few *** manual diagnosis of medical issues always requires an expert and is also ***,developing some computer diagnosis techniques based on deep learning is *** cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in females with a rapidly growing *** is estimated that patients with BrC will rise to 70%in the next 20 *** diagnosed at a later stage,the survival rate of patients with BrC is ***,early detection is essential,increasing the survival rate to 50%.A new framework for BrC classification is presented that utilises deep learning and feature *** significant steps of the presented framework include(i)hybrid contrast enhancement of acquired images,(ii)data augmentation to facilitate better learning of the Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)model,(iii)a pre‐trained ResNet‐101 model is utilised and modified according to selected dataset classes,(iv)deep transfer learning based model training for feature extraction,(v)the fusion of features using the proposed highly corrected function‐controlled canonical correlation analysis approach,and(vi)optimal feature selection using the modified Satin Bowerbird Optimization controlled Newton Raphson algorithm that finally classified using 10 machine learning *** experiments of the proposed framework have been carried out using the most critical and publicly available dataset,such as CBISDDSM,and obtained the best accuracy of 94.5%along with improved computation *** comparison depicts that the presented method surpasses the current state‐ofthe‐art approache

Machine Learning(ML)has changed clinical diagnostic procedures *** in Cardiovascular Diseases(CVD),the use of ML is indispensable to reducing human *** studies focused on disease prediction but depending on multiple parameters,further investigations are required to upgrade the clinical ***-layered implementation of ML also called Deep Learning(DL)has unfolded new horizons in the field of clinical *** formulates reliable accuracy with big datasets but the reverse is the case with small *** paper proposed a novel method that deals with the issue of less data *** by the regression analysis,the proposed method classifies the data by going through three different *** the first stage,feature representation is converted into probabilities using multiple regression techniques,the second stage grasps the probability conclusions from the previous stage and the third stage fabricates the final *** experiments were carried out on the Cleveland heart disease *** results show significant improvement in classification *** is evident from the comparative results of the paper that the prevailing statistical ML methods are no more stagnant disease prediction techniques in demand in the future.

The fluorine-substituted benzoate ester rod-shaped liquid crystals containing an azobenzene side chain linked with terminal double bonds were synthesized and *** mesophase and photoswitching properties were determined by polarizing optical microscopy（POM）,differential scanning calorimetry（DSC） and UV-visible *** rod-shaped compound 4a having an odd number of carbon atoms in the alkyl chains exhibits nematic phase and SmA type phase whereas compound 4b having an even number of carbon atoms showed only nematic *** fluorinecontaining compounds 4c and 4d showed only SmA type *** photoswitching properties of these compounds showed a rate of trans to cis isomerization ranging 19-20 s,whereas reverse process took around 230 min in *** materials may be ideal in the field of optically rewritable applications where both on and off rates should be crucial.

The COVID pandemic has accelerated the growth of ecommerce and reshaped shopping patterns,which in turn impacts trip-making and vehicle miles *** objectives of this study are to define shopping styles and quantify their prevalence in the population,investigate the impact of the pandemic on shopping style transition,understand the generational heterogeneity and other factors that influence shopping styles,and comment on the potential impact of the pandemic on long-term shopping *** months after the initial shutdown(May/June 2021),we collected ecommerce behavioral data from 313 Sacramento Region households using an online survey.A K-means clustering analysis of shopping behavior across eight commodity types identified five shopping styles,including ecommerce independent,ecommerce dependent,and three mixed modes *** found that the share of ecommerce independent style shifted from 55%pre-pandemic to 27%during the ***,30%kept the same style as pre-pandemic,54%became more ecommerce dependent,and 16%became less ecommerce dependent,with the latter group more likely to view shopping an excuse to get *** was found across ***-pandemic,Millennials and Gen Z were the most ecommerce dependent,but during the pandemic they made relatively small shifts toward increased ecommerce *** Boomers and the Silent Generation were bimodal,either sticking to in-person shopping or shifting to ecommercedependency during the ***-pandemic intentions varied across styles,with households who primarily adopt non-food ecommerce intending to reverse back to in-person shopping,while the highly ecommerce dependent intend to limit future in-store activities.

Tomato production is affected by various threats,including pests,pathogens,and nutritional deciencies during its growth *** control is not timely,these threats affect the plant-growth,fruit-yield,or even loss of the entire crop,which is a key danger to farmers’livelihood and food *** plant disease diagnosis methods heavily rely on plant pathologists that incur high processing time and huge *** and cost-effective methods are essential for timely detection and early intervention of basic food threats to ensure food security and reduce substantial economic *** developments in Articial Intelligence(AI)and computer vision allow researchers to develop image-based automatic diagnostic tools to quickly and accurately detect *** this work,we proposed an AI-based approach to detect diseases in tomato *** goal is to develop an end-to-end system to diagnose essential crop problems in real-time,ensuring high *** paper employs various deep learning models to recognize and predict different diseases caused by pathogens,pests,and nutritional *** Convolutional Neural Networks(CNNs)are trained on a large dataset of leaves and fruits images of tomato *** compared the performance of ShallowNet(a shallow network trained from scratch)and the state-of-theart deep learning network(models are ne-tuned via transfer learning).In our experiments,DenseNet consistently achieved high performance with an accuracy score of 95.31%on the test *** results verify that deep learning models with the least number of parameters,reasonable complexity,and appropriate depth achieve the best *** experiments are implemented in Python,utilizing the Keras deep learning library backend with TensorFlow.
