Determinants of Occipital Involvement in Males and Females with Pattern Hair Loss: A Retrospective Study

Background: Pattern hair loss (PHL) is the most common form of hair loss affecting both men and women. The occipital region, located at the back of the scalp, has been considered resistant to hair loss in PHL. It is often used as a donor site for hair transplantation procedures. However, evidence suggests that the occipital region may also be affected by PHL, although to a lesser extent compared to the frontal and vertex regions. Objective: To assess the levels and determinants of occipital involvement in PHL, focusing on gender and disease severity. Such data would enhance the comprehensive understanding of PHL progression and inform development of improved treatment strategies. Methods: This retrospective study involved 1993 adults (1000 males, 993 females) following for PHL at a specialized hair clinic in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Any patient who had hair transplantation in the past and any male who had balding areas (Hamilton-Norwood scales 4 to 7) at the initial consultation was excluded. The primary outcome was occipital involvement, defined as >10% thin hairs in the trichometry assessments of the occipital region. Additional data included patients age, treatment status, disease severity, and other trichometry parameters. Results: The prevalence of occipital involvement was found to be 23.8% overall, significantly more frequent in females (35.6%) than males with early PHL (Hamilton-Norwood scales 2 and 3) (12.1%) (p Conclusion: This study underscored the relevance of gender and disease severity in occipital involvement in PHL. Females had significantly higher rates of occipital involvement, suggesting that gender differences are critical in understanding PHL progression. Future research should aim to validate these findings, with an aim to refine therapeutic and surgical approaches to improve patient outcomes.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the mechanism of Qixuan Yijianing (芪玄抑甲宁，QYN) in minimizing cardiac injury in Graves′ disease (GD) mice using microRNA (miRNA) sequencing analysis. METHODS: Female BALB/c mice were randomly divided into the modeling and control groups (CG). The modeling group was established with Ad-TSHR289. Following 10 weeks of successful modeling， the mice were randomly assigned to four groups: model (MG)， methimazole (MMI)， QYN low-dose (LD)， and high-dose (HD). After four weeks of treatment， the heart rate， heart volume， and heart index were measured， and the levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST)， lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)， α-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (α-HBD)， creatine kinase (CK)， and creatine kinase MB isoenzyme (CK-MB) in the serum were detected using a biochemical analyzer. Hematoxylin-eosin and Masson staining were used to determine histological changes in cardiac tissue. The heart tissues in the CG， MG， and HD groups were selected， and miRNA sequencing was used to identify differentially expressed miRNAs. A bioinformatics database was used to predict the target genes of differential miRNAs， and Gene Ontology (GO)， and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis were conducted on the predicted target ***: As compared to the CG group， the MG group's heart rate， heart volume， heart index， AST， CK， CK-MB， LDH， α-HBD， myocardial fiber thickness， and collagen fiber significantly increased， all P < 0.01， while following QYN， these indicators improved in the HD group， all P < 0.01 or P < 0.05. Compared to the CG group， the MG group identified 151 differentially expressed miRNAs， with 42 miRNAs downregulated and 109 miRNAs upregulated; compared to the MG group， the HD group identified 70 differentially expressed miRNAs， 40 were downregulated， and 30 were upregulated. The healthcare internet of things(IoT)system has dramatically reshaped this important industry *** system employs the latest technology of IoT and wireless medical sensor networks to support the reliable connection of patients and healthcare *** goal is the remote monitoring of a patient’s physiological data by ***,this system can reduce the number and expenses of healthcare centers,make up for the shortage of healthcare centers in remote areas,enable consultation with expert physicians around the world,and increase the health awareness of *** major challenges that affect the rapid deployment and widespread acceptance of such a system are the weaknesses in the authentication process,which should maintain the privacy of patients,and the integrity of remote medical *** research results indicate the need of a flexible authentication *** study proposes a scheme with enhanced security for healthcare IoT systems,called an end-to-end authentication scheme for healthcare IoT systems,that is,an *** proposed scheme supports security services such as a strong and flexible authentication process,simultaneous anonymity of the patient and physician,and perfect forward secrecy services.A security analysis based on formal and informal methods demonstrates that the proposed scheme can resist numerous security-related attacks.A comparison with related authentication schemes shows that the proposed scheme is efficient in terms of communication,computation,and storage,and therefore cannot only offer attractive security services but can reasonably be applied to healthcare IoT systems.

The healthcare IoT system is considered to be a significant and modern medical *** is broad consensus that these systems will play a vital role in the achievement of economic growth in numerous growth *** the major challenges preventing the fast and widespread adoption of such systems is the failure to maintain the data privacy of patients and the integrity of remote clinical ***,the author proposed an end-to-end authentication scheme for healthcare IoT systems(E2EA),to provide a mutual authentication with a high data rate between the communication nodes of the healthcare IoT *** the E2EA authentication scheme supports numerous attractive security services to resist various types of attack,there is an ambiguous view of the impact of the desynchronization attack on the E2EA authentication *** general,the performance of the authentication scheme is considered a critical issue when evaluating the applicability of such schemes,along with the security services that can be ***,this paper discusses how the E2EA authentication scheme can resist the desynchronization attack through all possible attack ***,the effect of the desynchronization attack on the E2EA scheme performance is analyzed in terms of its computation and communication costs,based on a comparison with the recently related authentication schemes that can prevent such ***,this research paper finds that the E2EA authentication scheme can not only prevent the desynchronization attack,but also offers a low cost in terms of computations and communications,and can maintain consistency and synchronization between the communication nodes of the healthcare IoT systems during the next authentication sessions.

In the present study,split tensile strength of self-compacting concrete with different amount of CuO nanoparticles has been *** nanoparticles with the average particle size of 15 nm were added partially to self compacting concrete and split tensile strength of the specimens has been *** results indicate that CuO nanoparticles are able to improve the split tensile strength of self compacting concrete and recover the negative effects of polycarboxylate superplasticizer on split tensile *** nanoparticle as a partial replacement of cement up to 4 wt% could accelerate C-S-H gel formation as a result of increased crystalline Ca（OH）2 amount at the early ages of *** increase of the CuO nanoparticles more than 4 wt% causes the decrease of the split tensile strength because of unsuitable dispersion of nanoparticles in the concrete *** peak appearance in conduction calorimetry tests,more weight loss in thermogravimetric analysis and more rapid appearance of related peaks to hydrated products in X-ray diffraction（XRD） results all also indicate that CuO nanoparticles up to4 wt% could improve the mechanical and physical properties of the ***,CuO nanoparticles could improve the pore structure of concrete and shift the distributed pores to harmless and few-harm pores.

In the present paper, two models based on artificial neural networks and genetic programming for predicting split tensile strength and percentage of water absorption of concretes containing ZrO2 nanoparticles have been developed at different ages of curing. For building these models, training and testing using experimental results for 144 specimens produced with 16 different mixture proportions were conducted. The data used in the multilayer feed forward neural networks models and input variables of genetic programming models were arranged in a format of eight input parameters that cover the cement content, nanoparticle content, aggregate type, water content, the amount of superplasticizer, the type of curing medium, age of curing and number of testing try. According to these input parameters, in the neural networks and genetic programming models, the split tensile strength and percentage of water absorption values of concretes containing ZrO2 nanoparticles were predicted. The training and testing results in the neural network and genetic programming models have shown that two models have strong potential for predicting the split tensile strength and percentage of water absorption values of concretes containing ZrO2 nanoparticles. It has been found that neural network （NN） and gene expression programming （GEP） models will be valid within the ranges of variables. In neural networks model, as the training and testing ended when minimum error norm of network gained, the best results were obtained and in genetic programming model, when 4 genes were selected to construct the model, the best results were acquired. Although neural network have predicted better results, genetic programming is able to predict reasonable values with a simpler method rather than neural network.

Wireless medical sensor networks(WMSNs)play a significant role in increasing the availability of remote healthcare *** vital and physiological data of the patient can be collected using the WMSN via sensor nodes that are placed on his/her body and then transmitted remotely to a healthcare professional for proper *** protection of the patient’s privacy and their data from unauthorized access is a major concern in such ***,an authentication scheme with a high level of security is one of the most effective mechanisms by which to address these security *** authentication schemes for remote patient monitoring have been proposed ***,the majority of these schemes are extremely vulnerable to attacks and are unsuitable for practical *** paper proposes a secure three-factor authentication scheme for a patient-monitoring healthcare system that operates remotely using a *** proposed authentication scheme is formally verified using the Burrows,Abadi and Needham’s(BAN)logic model and an automatic cryptographic protocol verifier(ProVerif)*** show that our authentication scheme can prevent relevant types of security breaches in a practical context according to the discussed possible attack *** of the security and performance are carried out with recently proposed authentication *** results of the analysis show that the proposed authentication scheme is secure and practical for use,with reasonable storage space,computation,and communication efficiency.
