Abstract：To review long-term respiratory effects of mustard gas on Iranian veterans having undergone IraqIran *** databases of Scopus,Medline,ISI,IranMedex,and Irandoc *** *** accepted articles published in scientific journals as a quality *** main pathogenic factors are free radical *** of pulmonary involvement is approximately 42.5％.The most common complaints are cough and *** respiratory complications are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,bronchiectasis,and *** resuits can reveal restrictive and obstructive pulmonary *** chest X-ray does not help in about 50％ of lung ***-resolution CT of the lung is the best modality for diagnostic assessment of parenchymal lung and *** is no definite curative treatment for mustard *** effective treatment regimens consist of oxygen administration,use of vaporized moist air,respiratory physiotherapy,administration of mucolytic agents,bronchodilators,corticosteroids,and long-acting beta-2 agonists,antioxidants,surfactant,magnesium ions,therapeutic bronchoscopy,laser therapy,placement of respiratory stents,early tracheostomy in laryngospasm,and ultimately lung ***-resolution CT of the lung is the most accurate modality for the evaluation of the lung parenchyma and *** treatment efficacy of patients exposed to mustard gas depends on patient conditions (acute or chronic,upper or lower respiratory tract involvement).There are various treatment protocols,but unfortunately none of them is defmitely curable。

Appropriate rock characterization is beneficial in providing a reliable judgment on rock properties which is crucial for the design process of rock engineering ***,it can be difficult to obtain consistent mechanical parameters due to substantial variations in rock *** this research,uniaxial compression tests on dolerite specimens collected from a gold mine in Western Australia showed substantial scatter in the *** categorization based on the P-wave velocities is as accurate as the thin section analysis,which suggests that they can be used together to gain a more accurate initial understanding of the rock types before any laboratory *** quality of specimen preparation and rockemachine interaction greatly affect the test *** instance,non-parallelness of loading platens can lead to considerable scatter of the testing results,which would be perceived as rock *** is suggested that the current testing standards should be modified towards a better control of the loading machine performance and equipment ***,the possibility of pre-existing microcracks in rock,neither detected by the thin section analysis nor by the ultrasonic measurement,must be examined by computed tomography(CT)scanning as they can affect the test *** study will enhance our knowledge about the sources of variability in laboratory test results of rock which is essential for obtaining reliable data.

Validation of EST-derived STS markers localized on ***-3BS for Fusarium head blight resistance in wheat using a‘Wangshuibai’derived population

A few EST-derived STS markers localized on ***-3BS, a major QTL for resistance to Fusarium head blight （FHB） in wheat, have been previously identified in the ＇Sumai 3＇/＇Stoa＇ population. In this study, we used a ＇Wangshuibai＇（resistant）/＇Seri82＇（susceptible） derived population, linkage group, QTL, and quantitative gene expression analysis to assess the genetic background dependence and stability of the EST-derived STS markers for use in marker aided selection to improve FHB resistance in wheat. Based on our results, a QTL in the map interval of Xsts3B-138_1-Xgwrn493 on chromosome 3BS was detected for FHB resistance, which accounted for up to 16% of the phenotypic variation. BLASTN analysis indicated that Xsts3B-138_1 sequence had significant similarity with the resistance gene analogue. Real-time quantitative PCR showed that the relative expression of Xsts3B-138_1 in ＇Wangshuibai＇ at 96 h after inoculation was 2.6 times higher than ＇Seri82＇. Our results underlined that EST-derived STS3B-138 markers could be predominantly used in marker aided selection to improve FHB resistance in wheat.

通过室内实验研究不同阳离子浓度和类型对瓜胶、黄原胶以及部分水解聚丙烯酰胺(HPAM)交联凝胶流变性和稳定性的影响,提出利用多壁碳纳米管(MWCNT)降低阳离子负面影响的思路。交联凝胶体系中阳离子的存在会降低交联凝胶的黏度,阳离子浓度越高,黏度降低幅度越大,二价阳离子比一价阳离子降低黏度的幅度更大。阳离子会降低交联凝胶的稳定性,并且在较高盐度条件下更为严重。在HPAM凝胶中添加MWCNT,同时利用3-氨丙基三乙氧基硅烷(APTES)进行交联,MWCNT可以包围阳离子并将其从聚合物上剥离,降低阳离子与聚合物发生反应的可能性,从而使得交联凝胶黏度和破裂压力均得到提高,提高HPAM交联凝胶在不同作业条件下的稳定性,可用于相关的钻井作业。

Asymptomatic seminal infection of herpes simplex virus:impact on male infertility

In more than half of infertile men, the cause of their infertility is unknown. Several studies revealed the role of viral infections in male infertility. The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of herpes simplex virus-1 （HSV-1） and HSV-2 in semen from asymptomatic infertile male patients, and its association with altered semen parameters. A total of 70 semen samples were collected from infertile men who attended the Research and Clinical Center for Infertility in Yazd, Iran. Semen analysis and diagnostic real-time PCR using specific primers and probes for HSV-1 and HSV-2 DNA were performed. Comparison of semen parameters between virally in- fected and non-infected samples were performed with independent t-test and Mann-Whitney test. Semen analysis showed that infertile men fell into two groups, the male factor group and the unexplained group. HSV-1 and HSV-2 DNA was detected in 16 （22.9%） and 10 （14.3%） of 70 semen samples, respectively. All HSV-positive samples had abnormal semen parameters （the male factor group）. Although HSV infection was not associated with sperm motility and morphological defects, it was correlated with lower sperm count in the seminal fluid. The findings suggest that asymptomatic seminal infection of HSV plays an important role in male infertility by adversely af- fecting sperm count.

Calculation of dpa rate in graphite box of Tehran Research Reactor(TRR)

Radiation damage is an important factor that must be considered while designing nuclear facilities and nuclear materials. In this study, radiation damage is investigated in graphite, which is used as a neutron reflector in the Tehran Research Reactor (TRR) core. Radiation damage is shown by displacement per atom (dpa) unit. A cross section of the material was created by using the SPECOMP code. The concentration of impurities present in the non-irradiated graphite was measured by using the ICP-AES method. In the present study the MCNPX code had identified the most sensitive location for radiation damage inside the reactor core. Subsequently, the radiation damage (spectral-averaged dpa values) in the aforementioned location was calculated by using the SPECTER, SRIM Monte Carlo codes, and Norgett, Robinson and Torrens (NRT) model. The results of “Ion Distribution and Quick Calculation of Damage”(QD) method groups had a minor difference with the results of the SPECTER code and NRT model. The maximum radiation damage rate calculated for the graphite present in the TRR core was 1.567 9 10^-8 dpa/s. Finally, hydrogen retention was calculated as a function of the irradiation time.
