Woody Species Diversity and Forest Structure from Lowland to Montane Forest in Hyrcanian Forest Ecoregion

Alborz Mountains host Caspian Hyrcanian forest ecoregion along the northern slopes and forest steppe ecoregion in highlands. Hyrcanian forest covers the southeastern part of Caucasus biodiversity hotspot and is of great biogeographic importance. Altitudinal pattern and correlation between woody species biodiversity （DIV）, forest structure （（stem density （DEN）, mean basal area （MBA） and mean height class （MHC）） and disturbance （DIS） were explored along 2,4oo m altitudinal gradient in Hyrcanian relict forest, Central Alborz Mountains. Vegetation changes from lowland forest （LoF） to mid- altitude forest （MiF） and montane forest （MoF） in this area. The altitudinal gradient was divided into twelve 200 m elevational belts. Point centered quarter method （PCQM） with 96 sampling points and 83 vegetation samples by plot method （PM） were used to record field data. Shannon-Wiener index and Pearson coefficient were used for diversity and correlation analysis. The results showed that DEN decreased linearly, MBA and MHC showed relatively hump shaped and DIS showed a reverse hump shaped pattern of change along altitudinal gradient. Woody species diversity decreased non-steadily from LoF to MoF. Transitional vegetations of Carpinus-Fagus and Fagus-Quercus represented higher diversity of woody taxa compared to adjacent homogenous communities. Significant correlation was observed between altitude and all parameters： DEN with MBA, DIS and DIV; MBA with DIS; MHC with DIS along with DIV; and DIS with DIV at the study area scale. Surprisingly,correlation between studied parameters differed within each vegetation type. Altitude probably acts as a proxy for human and environmental driving forces in this area. Stability of warm and wet condition, season length, soil depth along with forest accessibility probably influences the altitudinal pattern of the studied parameters. A comparative study of physicochemical and photocatalytic properties of visible light responsive Fe,Gd and P single and tri-doped TiO_2 nanomaterials

High performance Fe-Gd-P tri-doped TiO2 nanoparticles （1 at% for each dopant） were successfully synthesized by a modified sol-gel method. Various analytical and spectroscopic techniques were carried out to determine the physicochemical properties of the prepared samples, including XRD, EDX, FESEM, BET, FFIR, XPS, PL, EIS and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activities of prepared samples were evaluated by photo degradation of methyl orange （MO） and 4-chlorophenol （4- CP） as model pollutants under visible light irradiation. Effects of each dopant on different properties of TiO2 nanoparticles were investigated. Results show that Gd and P doping enhances Ti02 surface textural properties by forming Ti O Gd and Ti-O-P bonds. It is found that Gd plays a superior role in increasing oxygen vacancies and organic species on TiO2 surface. Gd doping also facilitates transferring of the photo-induced charge carriers to the surface adsorbed species. The enhanced electronic band structure and visible light response, as well as high electron lifetime of Fe-Gd-P tri-doped sample is mainly attributed to Fe and Gd doping. The tri-doped TiO2 with rate constant ofkapp - 1.28 ~ 10-2 min-1 for MO and kapp ~ 0.94 ~ 10-2 min-1 for 4-CP, shows the highest photodegradation rate among all samples including undoped and single doped samples. The improved photocatalytic performance of Fe-Gd-P tri- doped Ti02 is due to the synergistic effect of enhanced surface chemistry and textural properties, increased number of surface adsorbed hydroxyl groups and organic species, improved visible light ab- sorption, increased lifetime of the photo-induced electron/hole pairs and boosted interfacial charge transfer.

Electrodeposition of nanostructured Ti/(Ru+Ti+Ce)O_2 coatings

A nanostructured ternary coating of Ti/（Ru ＋ Ti ＋ Ce）O2 was prepared by the conventional electrodeposition on the titanium substrate as the cathode with different numbers of coating layers. The main objective of this work was to study nanostructured coatings of ceramic materials. For this purpose, the amount of precursor materials in the electrolyte was a variable parameter. Furthermore, the salt of TiCl4/RuCl3·xH2 O/Ce（NO3）3·6 H2 O with different amounts, hydrogen peroxide, methanol, and distilled water were used as an aqueousunaqueous bath. In addition, the coated samples were put to heat at 300, 450, 650, and 850℃ in an electric furnace for1 h. The crystalline phase of the coating was characterized by X-ray diffraction（XRD）. The chemical composition and microstructure of the coating were studied using energydispersive spectroscopy（EDS） and scanning electron microscopy analysis（SEM）. Moreover, the electrochemical measurement of Ti/（Ru ＋ Ti ＋ Ce）O2 coatings was carried out. Results show that with the increase in the number of coating layers, the quality of morphology is ***, the best quality of coatings is obtained at six layers on the titanium substrate with electrolyte including TiO2/RuO2/CeO2 with the molar ratio of 70：5：25 after heat treatment at 450 ℃ for 1 h. Besides,with the increase in Ce02 content from 5 wt% to 25 wt% and the number of coating layers, higher thickness of about（20.0±0.1） μm and minimum over potential for chlorine evolution were obtained.

Performance improvement of a crumb rubber modified bitumen using recycled glass powder

In this study, the efficiency of bitumen and asphalt mixtures modified with crumb rubber(CR) and recycled glass powder(RGP) is evaluated. From an environmental point of view, the application of RGP in asphalt mixtures is considered beneficial since it prevents accumulation of waste glass in the natural environment. Rheological and mechanical properties of modified bitumen samples were investigated by laboratory methods such as bitumen conventional tests and dynamic shear rheometer(DSR), and also by asphalt mixture performance tests including Marshall stability, indirect tensile strength(ITS),compressive strength, and indirect tensile stiffness modulus. The results showed that the application of RGP in place of CR has no negative impact on the efficiency of bitumen and asphalt mixtures and even improves their engineering properties except for the toughness index(TI). Moreover, a modification with 5% CR and 5% RGP in asphalt mixtures results in the best overall performance.

Experimental and numerical analysis of beam to column joints in steel structures

The behaviors such as extreme non-elastic response, constant changes in roughness and resistance, as well as formability under extreme loads such as earthquakes are the primary challenges in the modeling of beam-to-column connections. In this research, two modeling methods including mechanical and neural network methods have been presented in order to model the complex hysteresis behavior of beam-to-column connections with flange plate. First, the component-based mechanical model will be introduced in which every source of transformation has been shown only with geometrical and material properties. This is followed by the investigation of a neural network method for direct extraction of information out of experimental data. For the validation of behavioral curves as well as training of the neural network, the experiments were carried out on samples with real dimensions of beam-to-column connections with flange plate in the laboratory. At the end, the combinational modeling framework is presented. The comparisons reveal that the combinational modeling is able to display the complex narrowed hysteresis behavior of the beam-to-column connections with flange plate. This model has also been successfully employed for the prediction of the behavior of a newly designed connection.

Hydrodynamic modeling strategy for dense to dilute gas-solid fluidized beds

When investigating the hydrodynamic behavior of gas–solid flow systems, there are several options for the drag function, viscosity model, and other parameters. The low accuracy obtained with a random trial and error modeling strategy has led researchers to develop new drag models that are fine-tuned for their specific studies. However, besides the drag functions, an appropriate viscosity model together with radial distribution function have a great impact on the hydrodynamic modeling of fluidized beds. In this study, a detailed validation and verification task is conducted using three different experimental datasets to derive a modeling strategy for predicting hydrodynamic behavior in dense to dilute flow regimes of various fluidized beds. For this purpose, the steady-state Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations are solved in a finite volume scheme using the twoPhaseEulerFoam solver in the OpenFOAM 2.1.1 software. A comparative study of different drag and viscosity models enables an optimal modeling strategy to be determined for the accurate prediction of the bed pressure drop, bed expansion ratio, time-averaged solid hold-up, and bed height in various dense and dilute flow regimes. Our results show that the modeling strategy prescribed in this study is widely applicable for identifying the hydrodynamic characteristics of various gas–solid fluidized beds with different operating conditions.

Numerical and Performance Analysis of one row Transonic Rotor with Sweep and Lean angle

In this study,aerodynamic behaviors of swept and leaned blades were *** and tangential blade curvatures impacts on compressor's operating parameters were analyzed separately.A commercial CFD program which solves the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations was used to find out the mentioned impact and the complicated flow field of transonic *** CFD method that was used for solving flow field's equation was validated by experimental data of NASA Rotor *** results showed that the compressor with curved rotors had higher efficiency,rotor pressure ratio and stable operating range compared to the compressor with un-curved *** curved rotors mostly had higher impact on the overall stable operating range compared to the other operating *** range involves choking point and stall point that were changed separately by using of bended *** finding the detailed impact of sweep and lean angle on transonic blades,various forms of lean and sweep angles were exerted to basic *** was found that sweep angles increased overall operating range up to 30%,efficiency up to 2%and pressure ratio up to 1%.Leaning the blades increased the safe operating range,the pressure ratio and efficiency by 14%,4%and 2%respectively.

In this study,we exploit quantum information processing,the research field focusing on quantum two-mode squeezed(QTMS)radar and quantum illumination(QI),to investigate the qualitative behaviors of entanglement,the entropy of formation,and squeezing in these *** use logarithmic negativity to investigate entanglement between the signal and idler and propose strategies to maintain entanglement at room temperature in both *** also calculate the entanglement,squeezing,and entropy for the QTMS radar when the target is present and the signal is transmitted to the *** addition,by controlling the squeezing parameter which is a tool to control entanglement,entropy,and squeezing,the performance of the QTMS radar can be improved,so this work shows how it is implemented in *** both protocols,entanglement is maintained by considering *** the squeezing parameter controls both signal and idler power and the correlation between them,therefore,the qualitative behavior of squeezing in the QTMS radar and QI is also studied in this *** significant result obtained from the QI is that the entanglement maintains at high power,low temperature,and high correlation between signal and *** contrast,in the QTMS,the entanglement survives when the correlation and power are low,even at room temperature.

Enhanced microstructural and mechanical properties of Stellite/WC nanocomposite on Inconel 718 deposited through vibration-assisted laser cladding

Stellite-21/WC nanopowders were deposited on Inconel through vibration-assisted laser cladding with different laser *** and scanning electron microscopy,hardness measurements,and wear characterizations were employed to understand the microstructural and mechanical behaviors of the *** showed that varying the cooling rate exerted remarkable effects on the microstructure of the as-cladded ***,increasing the laser power from 150 W to 250 W increased the heat input and the *** was affected by the scanning rate and powder feeding rate at a high laser power of 250 *** WC nanoparticles were added as reinforcement,the dilution magnitude intensified while the hardness value increased from HV 350 to HV *** wear characterizations indicated that the composites containing 3 wt%WC nanoparticles possessed the highest wear resistance.

Estimating Network Connectedness of Financial Markets and Commodities

We investigate the directional volatility and return network connectedness among stock,commodity,bond,currency and cryptocurrency *** period of study covers Feb 2006 until August *** utilize and expand Diebold and Yilmaz(20142015)connectedness measurement;accordingly,in the variance decomposition structure,we use Hierarchical Vector Autoregression(HVAR)to estimate high dimensional networks more *** empirical results show that markets are highly connected,especially during *** stock markets are the net receiver of shocks,while European and American stock markets are the net transmitter of shocks to other *** pairwise connectedness results suggest that among stock markets,DAX-CAC 40,FTSE 100-CAC 40 and S&P 500-S&P_TSX index are more integrated through connectedness than the *** other markets,WTI crude oil-Brent crude oil,30-Year bond and 10-Year bond,Dollar Index futures-EUR/USD have notable *** terms of cryptocurrencies,they contribute insignificantly to other markets and are highly integrated with each *** and cryptocurrencies seem to be good choices for investors to hedge during a crisis.
