Background There are limited data comparing long-term clinical outcomes between first-generation (1G) and second-generation (2G) drug-eluting stents (DESs) in patients who underwent successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesion. Methods A total of 840 consecutive patients who underwent PCI with DESs for CTO lesion from January 2004 to November 2015 were enrolled. Finally, a total of 324 eligible CTO patients received 1G-DES (Paclitaxel-eluting stent or Sirolimus-eluting stent, n = 157) or 2G-DES (Zotarolimus-eluting stent or Everolimus-eluting stent, n = 167) were enrolled. The clinical endpoint was the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) defined as all-cause death, recurrent myocardial infarction (re-MI), total repeat revascularization [target lesion revascularization (TLR), target vessel revascularization (TVR), and non-TVR]. We investigated the 5-year major clinical outcomes between 1G-DES and 2G-DES in patient who underwent successful CTO PCI. Results After propensity score matched (PSM) analysis, two well-balanced groups (111 pairs, n = 222, C-statistic = 0.718) were generated. Up to the 5-year follow-up period, the cumulative incidence of all-cause death, re-MI, TLR, TVR and non-TVR were not significantly different between the two groups. Finally, MACE was also similar between the two groups (HR = 1.557, 95% CI: 0.820–2.959, P = 0.176) after PSM. Conclusions In this study, 2G-DES was not associated with reduced long-term MACE compared with 1G-DES following successful CTO revascularization up to five years.

Aims:Recently,BRAF mutation testing has been introduced as a marker in differentiating Lynch syndrome from sporadic colorectal cancers or in predicting colorectal cancers with worse *** with hereditary predisposition to cancer development are at an increased risk of developing multiple primary *** purpose of this study is to identify mutation in the BRAF gene in multiple primary cancers with colorectal cancer and stomach ***:BRAF mutation was analysed in 45 patients with colorectal cancer and stomach cancer,synchronously or ***:Mean age was 64.07 years(range:47–83 years).For the colorectal cancer,tumors were located at the sigmoid colon in eight patients(17.8%)and at the rectum in 22 patients(48.9%).Twenty-three patients(51.1%)had synchronous *** patients(8.9%)had family members with *** mutation was identified in three patients(6.7%).All three of these patients had metachronous *** colorectal cancers were located in the sigmoid colon(1 patient)and the rectum(2 patients).Conclusions:BRAF mutation rate was low in the multiple primary cancer with colorectal cancer and stomach *** only BRAF gene study,it was not possible to identify any correlation with family history of colorectal *** study means considering other genes–MSI,MSH2,MLH1,MSH6.

Improvement in the Adhesion Between Electrode of a SOFC and Ag Paste as a Current Collector by Au Deposition

This paper reports the use of Au films to improve the performance of the stacked solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC) based on the characterization of the interface and the adhesion between the electrodes of the SOFCs and the Ag paste. The specimens were manufactured to perform the experiment as follows. A Si O2 wafer with a 300 mm notch was attached to the electrodes of a SOFC by a Ag paste and Au film, which were deposited on the electrodes by sputtering for 1 min or 5 min deposition time and annealed at300 C for 1 h. The four-point bending test was performed, which resulted in the formation of an extended crack at the tip on the wafer notch, and the crack propagation was observed using a stereo microscope equipped with a charge-coupled device(CCD). Consequently, the interfacial adhesion energy and the effect of the Au film between the each electrode and the Ag paste can be evaluated. On the cathode, the interfacial adhesion energy without Au film was 2.59 J/m2(upper value) and the adhesion energy increased to 11.59 J/m2(upper value) and 15.89 J/m2(lower value) with the Au film. On the anode,the interfacial adhesion energy without Au film was 1.74 J/m2(upper value), which increased to 11.07 J/m2(upper value) and 14.74 J/m2(lower value) with the Au film. In addition, the interface areas were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) to estimate the interface delamination.

The effects of the combination of exercise and TRT on symptoms of late-onset hypogonadism （LOH） and the durability of response after cessation of TRT were investigated. A total of fifty patients with erectile dysfunction （ED） who had a sedentary lifestyle and low serum total testosterone （T） levels were enrolled and followed for 20 weeks. Patients were randomly divided into two groups; all of them received T gel for 12 weeks and it was discontinued for 8 weeks. Patients assigned to Group II were offered a supervised exercise program for 20 weeks. Measurement of serological testing was performed and self-assessment questionnaires and Global Assessment Question （GAQ） were asked. Baseline characteristics and the initial symptom scores showed no significant difference between the two groups. Serum total T levels and the symptom scores were increased at 12 weeks in both groups, and Group II showed better results with statistical significance. There was a decrease in T levels and worsening of symptom scores at week 20 compared to week 12 in both groups, and Group II showed better results with statistical significance. On the GAQ, Group II showed higher ratio of ＂yes＂ at week 12 and the same tendency was sustained at week 20 with significant difference between two groups. The combination of exercise and TRT showed significant improvements in serum T levels and LOH symptoms compared to TRT alone. In addition, these improvements were maintained in the combination group with continuous exercise, even after cessation of TRT.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Gyejibokryeong-Hwan(Guizhifuling-wan, GBH) on muscle injury in a mouse model of muscle ***: C57/BL6 mouse biceps femoris muscles were injured using the drop-mass method and injured animals were treated orally with GBH(50,100, or 500 mg/kg) once a day for 7 d. Open field and treadmill running tests were performed to assess functional recovery from muscle injury. The production of pro-inflammatory cytokines was examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western blotting analysis. Expression of the muscle regeneration biomarkers, myoblast determination(Myo D), myogenic factor 5(Myf5), and smooth muscle actin(α-SMA), in the biceps femoris muscle was investigated at the protein and m RNA level by Western blotting and real time-PCR, respectively. Histological analysis was performed using hematoxylin and eosin staining. Finally, myosin heavy chain production was investigated in differentiated C2C12 myoblasts in the presence of ***: GBH treatment markedly improved locomotion and running behavior. GBH significantly inhibited the secretion of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 into the bloodstream in muscle-contused animals. The levels of Myo D, Myf5, and α-SMA protein and m RNA were significantly up-regulated by GBH in injured muscle tissue. Histological studies suggested that GBH facilitated recovery from muscle damage. However, GBH did not induce the production of myosin heavy chain in ***: Overall, the present study suggested that GBH improves the recovery of the injured muscles in the mouse model of muscle contusion.

Indole-3-acetic acid （IAA）, a major plant auxin, is produced in both tryptophan-dependent and tryptophan-independent pathways. A major pathway in Arabidopsis thaliana generates IAA in two reactions from tryptophan. Step one converts tryptophan to indole-3-pyruvic acid （IPA） by tryptophan aminotransferases followed by a rate-limiting step converting IPA to IAA catalyzed by YUCCA proteins. We identified eight putative StYUC （Solanum tuberosum YUCCA） genes whose deduced amino acid sequences share 50%-70% identity with those of Arabidopsis YUCCA proteins. All include canonical, conserved YUCCA sequences： FATGY motif, FMO signature sequence, and FAD-binding and NADP-binding sequences. In addition, five genes were found with -50% amino acid sequence identity to Arabidopsis trypto-phan aminotransferases. Transgenic potato （Solanum tuberosum cv. Jowon） constitutively overexpressing Arabidopsis AtYUC6 displayed high-auxin phenotypes such as narrow downward-curled leaves, increased height, erect stature, and longevity. Transgenic potato plants overexpressing AtYUC6 showed enhanced drought tolerance based on reduced water loss. The phenotype was correlated with reduced levels of reactive oxygen species in leaves. The results suggest a func-tional YUCCA pathway of auxin biosynthesis in potato that may be exploited to alter plant responses to the environment.

Purpose: BupredermTM-Buprenorphine transdermal delivery system (BTDS) was developed for the treatment of post-operative and chronic pains. This study examined the relationship between the plasma concentration of buprenorphine and its analgesic effect (tail flick test) in order to assess the usefulness of pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) modeling in describing this relationship. Methods: After patch application, plasma concentrations of bu- prenorphine in mice were measured for 72 hours with a validated LC/MS/MS system, and the analgesic effects were assessed by tail flick test for the period of 24 hours. A modified two- compartment open model was used to explain the PK properties of BTDS, and the PD model was characterized by slow receptor binding. Results: The peak buprenorphine level in plasma was achieved at 1-24 h and the effective therapeutic drug concentration was maintained for 72 hours. BupredermTM induced prolongation of tail-flick latency in a dose and time dependent manner. Maximum analgesic effect was attained at 3-6 h and was maintained for 24 h after patch application. Counter-clockwise hysteresis between the plasma concentration and the analgesic efficacy of BTDS was observed after BupredermTM application, indicating there was a delay between plasma concentrations and the effect observed. From the developed PK-PD model, Kd values (0.69-0.82 nM) that were derived from the pharmacodynamic parameters (Kon and Koff) are similar to the reported values (Kd = 0.76 ± 0.14 nM). Good agreement between the predicted and observed values was noted for the rate of change in analgesic effect data (R2 = 0.822, 0.852 and 0.774 for 0.24, 0.8 and 2.4 mg/patch, respectively). Conclusions: The established PK- PD model successfully described the relationship between plasma concentration of buprenorphine and its analgesic efficacy measured by the tail flick test. Few long-term follow-up studies have compared the changes in renal function according to the type of statin used in *** compared the long-term effects of statin intensity and type on the changes in the glomerular filtration rate(GFR).We extracted data of patients who took statin for the first *** analyzed whether or not different statins affect the changes in GFR at 3 months after baseline and 4 years *** included 3678 patients and analyzed the changes in *** GFR decreased by 3.2%±0.4%on average 4 years after the first statin prescription,indicating statistically significant deterioration(from 83.5±0.4 mL/min/1.73 m2 to 79.9±0.4 mL/min/1.73 m2,Pmin/1.73 m2 was significantly lower than that of *** long-term statin intake,GFR changed with the type of *** work is the first in Korea to compare each statin in terms of changes in the GFR after the statin prescription.
