A novel method to extract a bounding box that contains the three-dimensional object from its spherical hologram is proposed. The proposed method uses the windowed Fourier transform to obtain the angular distribution of the quasi-collimated beams at each position in the spherical hologram and estimates the bounding box by accumulating the quasi-collimated beams in the volume inside the spherical hologram. The estimated bounding box is then used to realize occlusion effect between the objects in the synthesis of the three-dimensional scene hologram.

Dear Editor,Flowering is a major developmental switch in the life cycle of flowering plants. FRIgiDA （FRI） activates FLOWERING LOCUS C （FLC） transcription, a major repressor of this switch regulating flow- ering time （Johanson et al., 2000）. FRI is highly conserved and many natural variations in FRI are found to affect flowering time. However, little is known about the molecular characteristics of FRI.

Aluminum doped ZnO(AZO) nanorods were synthesized by microemulsion method with different types of *** phase and the morphology of the above nanorods were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD).SEM observations showed that the ZnO nanorods had diameters around about 50—200 nm and lengths up to several *** CO gas sensing properties of the AZO nanorods were tested at operating temperatures of 200,300,350 and 400 ℃.It was found that AZO nanorods based sensor exhibited the highest sensitivity to CO at 350℃.

Objective:To determine the effects of Hydrangeae Dulcis Folium(EHDF)on physical stress,changes in the whole-body cortisol level and behaviour in zebrafish(Danio rerio).Methods:One hundred and seventy-four fish were randomly divided into 4[adrenocorticotropin hormone(ACTH)challenge test:4 fish per group]or 6 groups(behavioural test:10–12 fish per group,whole-body cortisol:4 fish per group).Net handling stress(NHS)was used to induce physical *** were treated with vehicle or EHDF(5–20 mg/L)for 6 min before they were exposed to *** then,fish were sacrificed for collecting body fluid from whole-body or conducted behavioural tests,including novel tank test and open field test,and were evaluated to observe anxiety-like behaviours and *** addition,to elucidate the mode of action of the anti-stress effects of EHDF,ACTH(0.2 IU/g,i.p.)challenge test was ***:The increased anxiety-like behaviours in novel tank test and open field test under stress were prevented by treatment with EHDF at 5–20 mg/L(P<0.05).Moreover,compared with the unstressed group,which was not treated with NHS,the whole-body cortisol level was significantly increased by treatment with NHS(P<0.05).Compared with the NHS-treated stressed control group,pre-treatment with EHDF at concentrations of 5–20 mg/L for 6 min significantly prevented the NHS-increased whole-body cortisol level(P<0.05).In addition,ACTH challenge test showed that EHDF completely blocked the effects of ACTH on cortisol secretion(P<0.05).Conclusion:EHDF may be a good antistress candidate and its mechanism of action may be related to its positive effects on cortisol release.

In pathological diagnostics,histological images highlight the oncological features of excised specimens,but they require laborious and costly staining *** recent innovations in label-free microscopy that simplify complex staining procedures,technical limitations and inadequate histological visualization are still problems in clinical ***,we demonstrate an interconnected deep learning(DL)-based framework for performing automated virtual staining,segmentation,and classification in label-free photoacoustic histology(PAH)of human *** framework comprises three components:(1)an explainable contrastive unpaired translation(E-CUT)method for virtual H&E(VHE)staining,(2)an U-net architecture for feature segmentation,and(3)a DL-based stepwise feature fusion method(StepFF)for *** framework demonstrates promising performance at each step of its application to human liver *** virtual staining,the E-CUT preserves the morphological aspects of the cell nucleus and cytoplasm,making VHE images highly similar to real H&E *** segmentation,various features(e.g.,the cell area,number of cells,and the distance between cell nuclei)have been successfully segmented in VHE ***,by using deep feature vectors from PAH,VHE,and segmented images,StepFF has achieved a 98.00%classification accuracy,compared to the 94.80%accuracy of conventional PAH *** particular,StepFF’s classification reached a sensitivity of 100%based on the evaluation of three pathologists,demonstrating its applicability in real clinical *** series of DL methods for label-free PAH has great potential as a practical clinical strategy for digital pathology.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the optimal timing and underlying mechanism of electroacupuncture(EA)at Baihui(GV 20)and Dazhui(GV 14)for improved long-term functional recovery after focal cerebral ischemia in a photothrombotic stroke mouse ***:Totally 50 adult male C57 BL/6 J mice were assigned into 5 groups:(a)the control group,sham-operated mice(n=10);(b)the vehicle group,focal cerebral ischemia induction without EA(n=10);(c)the acute EA group,mice received EA immediately post-ischemia,followed by once-daily treatments for 7 consecutive days(n=10);(d)the subacute EA group,mice received EA 4 days post-ischemia,followed by once-daily treatments for 7 consecutive days(n=10);(e)the delayed EA *** stimulation(2 Hz,2 V for 20 min)was applied to acupuncture points(acupoints),Baihui(GV 20)and Dazhui(GV 14),once a day for 7 consecutive days beginning immediately(acute treatment),4 d(subacute treatment)and 10 d(delayed treatment)after focal cerebral ischemia in C57 BL/6 J *** assessments were conducted 21 and 28 d post-ischemia and histopathological analyses were performed 28 days ***:The subacute EA treatment at Baihui(GV20)and Dazhui(GV 14)significantly improved functional recovery compared to the vehicle group 28 d after ischemic brain injury,although brain atrophy was not *** number of Neu N+and Neu N+/Brd U+cells as well as GFAP intensity in the ipsilateral cortex were significantly increased in the subacute group compared to the vehicle group 28 d *** concluded that EA stimulation 4 d post-ischemia(subacute treatment)enhanced neurogenesis and astrogliosis,likely contributing to long-term functional recovery following focal cerebral ***:Our findings suggest that the timing of the EA therapy at Baihui(GV 20)and Dazhui(GV 14)determines the therapeutic effects in mice with focal cerebral ischemia induced by photothrombotic occlusion.

A strategy for fabricating microcrystalline cellulose–Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)(MCC–MXene)nanocomposite films with high relative permittivity,high thermal conductivity,and excellent mechanical properties was *** MCC–MXene nanocomposite film was fabricated by casting a solution containing N,N-dimethylacetamide/lithium chloride(DMAc/LiCl)-soluble MCC and DMAcdispersible MXene nanosheets,followed by humidity control *** MXene nanosheets greatly enhanced the permittivity of the nanocomposite films owing to interfacial ***,the nanocomposite film with 20 wt.%MXene content achieved a desirable permittivity of 71.4 at 102 Hz(a 770%improvement against that of neat cellulose),while the dielectric loss only increased by 1.8 times(from 0.39 to 0.70).The obtained nanocomposite films with 20 wt.%and 30 wt.%MXene exhibited remarkable in-plane thermal conductivities of 8.523 and 9.668 W∙m^(−1)∙K^(−1),respectively,owing to the uniform dispersion and selfalignment of the MXene layered ***,the uniformly dispersed MXene nanosheets in the MCC network with interfacial interaction(hydrogen bonding)and mechanical entanglement endowed the nanocomposite films with excellent mechanical properties and ***,the thermal stability,water resistance,and antibacterial properties of the nanocomposite films were effectively improved with the introduction of ***,using DMAc/LiCl as the solvent system not only improves the compatibility between MCC and MXene but also avoids the problem of easy oxidation of MXene in aqueous *** the high stability of the MCC–MXene solution and enhanced properties of the MCC–MXene films,the proposed strategy manifests great potential for fabricating natural biomass-based dielectric materials.

Blood-contacting devices must be designed to minimize the risk of bloodstream-associated infections,thrombosis,and intimal lesions caused by surface ***,achieving effective prevention of both bloodstream-associated infections and thrombosis poses a challenge due to the conflicting nature of antibacterial and antithrombotic activities,specifically regarding electrostatic *** study introduced a novel biocompatible hydrogel of sodium alginate and zwitterionic carboxymethyl chitosan(ZW@CMC)with antibacterial and antithrombotic activities for use in *** ZW@CMC hydrogel demonstrates a superhydrophilic surface and good hygroscopic properties,which facilitate the formation of a stable hydration layer with low *** zwitterionic-functionalized CMC incorporates an additional negative sulfone group and increased negative charge density in the carboxyl *** augmentation enhances electrostatic repulsion and facilitates the formation of hydration *** leads to exceptional prevention of blood clotting factor adhesion and inhibition of biofilm ***,the ZW@CMC hydrogel exhibited biocompatibility with tests of in vitro cytotoxicity,hemolysis,and catheter ***,in vivo tests of antithrombotic and systemic inflammation models with catheterization indicated that ZW@CMC has significant advantages for practical applications in cardiovascular-related and sepsis *** study opens a new avenue for the development of chitosan-based multifunctional hydrogel for applications in blood-contacting devices.

Sequential transcatheter arterial chemoembolization and portal vein embolization before right hemihepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

Background:Recent studies showed that sequential selective transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)and portal vein embolization(PVE)provided better future liver remnant(FLR)regeneration rate and disease-free survival following surgery compared with PVE *** present study aimed to clarify whether preoperative sequential TACE and PVE before right hemihepatectomy can reduce postoperative hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)recurrence and improve long-term disease-free and overall ***:Recurrence and survival outcomes were retrospectively evaluated in 205 patients with HCC who underwent right hemihepatectomy by a single surgeon from November 1993 to November *** were divided into four groups according to the procedure performed before the surgery:sequential TACE and PVE(TACE-PVE),PVE-only,TACE-only,or na?ve control *** baseline patient and tumor characteristics,postoperative outcomes,recurrence-free survival and overall survival were ***:Baseline patient and tumor characteristics upon diagnosis were similar in all four groups,while sequential TACE and PVE were well *** TACE-PVE group had a higher mean increase in percentage FLR volume compared with that of the PVE-only group(17.46%±6.63%vs.12.14%±5.93%;P=0.001).The TACE-PVE group had significantly better overall and disease-free survival rates compared with the other groups(both Pginal FLR volume to become candidates for major hepatic resection by promoting compensatory FLR hypertrophy without the deterioration of basal hepatic functional reserve or tumor progression.
