This work applies stress tensors inversions and quantification of fracture patterns along the Mesa de Los Santos, in the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia, to better understand the potential fluid flow. It thus contributes to the conceptual hydrogeological model. The area was subdivided into three blocks, separated by the NW Potreros and the Los Santos faults, having minor inner faults of different orientations. This separation facilitates the analysis of the fractures measured in the field, which in general show high dip angles and a conjugate geometry in the northern block, tension fractures(Mode I) in the central block, and a random distribution in the southwestern block. WinTensor treatment of slickensides yielded a maximum horizontal stress(SHmax) of 111o, which coincides with the WNW-ESE tensor observed from the conjugate and tension joints. We then used Frac pa Q to generate interpolation maps of fracture intensity and density. The maps show the highest values in the central block and the lowest in the northern block,where the precipitation is higher, causing intensive rock weathering and homogenization of the fracture planes. Although the highest values of connectivity by line are found to the south of the mesa, we suggest the possibility of greater flow from the recharge zone(NE) along bedding planes and open NW-SE fractures.

The red palm weevil（RPW; Rhynchophorus ferrugineus） is spreading worldwide and severely harming many palm species. However, most studies on RPW focused on insect biology, and little information is available about the plant response to the attack. In the present experiment, we used metabolomics to study the alteration of the leaf metabolome of Phoenix canariensis at initial（1^（st） stage） or advanced（2^（nd） stage）attack by RPW compared with healthy（unattacked） *** leaf metabolome significantly varied among treatments. At the 1^（st） stage of attack, plants showed a reprogramming of carbohydrate and organic acid metabolism; in contrast, peptides and lipid metabolic pathways underwent more changes during the 2^（nd） than 1^（st） stage of attack. Enrichment metabolomics analysis indicated that RPW attack mostly affected a particular group of compounds rather than rearranging plant metabolic pathways. Some compounds selectively affected during the 1^（st） rather than 2^（nd） stage（e.g. phenylalanine; tryptophan; cellobiose;xylose; quinate; xylonite; idonate; and iso-threonate; cellobiotol and arbutine） are upstream events in the phenylpropanoid,terpenoid and alkaloid biosynthesis. These compounds could be designated as potential markers of initial RPW attack. However,further investigation is needed to determine efficient early screening methods of RPW attack based on the concentrations of these molecules.

This paper shows that the stiffness ofstyrene-butadiene solid rubber with added kaolin powder is related to the yield stress of kaolin dispersion in liquid polybutadiene rubber up to the percolation threshold. For five kinds of kaolin powder, the value of τ° spans the range of 100-430 pa, while the corresponding compressive elastic constant of SBR varies from 12 to 21 Mpa. A relationship between τ° and △E^i^＊/ER^＊ is proposed. Critical examination of these data infers that kaolin powder dispersed in solid rubber matrix acts as an additive which decreases the random movement of the polybutadiene chains. Consequently, dispersions of nano-particles in liquid and in solid SBR are considered to be related, thus leading to a theological method for selecting nano-particles as fillers in solid SBR.

Multilayers incorporated with stimuli-responsive substances by means of layer-by-layer(LbL) self-assembly are much attractive due to their advantages of stimuli-responsiveness and potential applications in different fields. In this study, pyrenemethyl acrylate(pa) was synthesized, and was copolymerized with acrylic acid(AA) to obtain the amphiphilic and photodegradable P(pa-co-AA)polymers with a pa:AA molar ratio of 1.3:3, and an average molecular weight of 6.9 kDa and polydispersity index of 1.04. They formed micelles spontaneously when dispersed in aqueous solution with a size of 27.5 nm in a dry state and 136.6 nm in a wet state. The micelles were readily decomposed to form aggregates as a result of the cleavage of the pyrenemethyl ester bonds under UV-irradiation. UV-responsive micelles-containing multilayers were prepared by LbL self-assembly of the UV-responsive micelles and polyallylamine hydrochloride(paH). UV-irradiation of the multilayers resulted in the decomposition of micelles, leading to larger surface roughness, and enhanced swelling ratio and wettability of the multilayers. In vitro culture of A549, HepG2 and endothelial cells showed significantly better adhesion at 4 h on the UV-illuminated multilayers, whereas the cell proliferation was not affected significantly until 5 d.

AIM:To describe a condition that we define as early graft dysfunction(EGD)which can be identified preoperatively. METHODS:Small-for-size graft dysfunction following living-related liver transplantation(LRLT)is characterized by EGD when the graft-to-recipient body weight ratio(GRBWR)is below 0.8%.However, patients transplanted with GRBWR above 0.8%can develop dysfunction of the *** 73 recipients of LRLT(GRBWR>0.8%),we identified 10 patients who developed *** main measures of outcomes analyzed were overall mortality,number of re-transplants and length of stay in days(LOS).Furthermore we analyzed other clinical pre-transplant variables,intraoperative parameters and post transplant ***:A trend in favor of the non-EGD group(3-mo actuarial survival 98%vs 88%,P=0.09;3-mo graft mortality 4.7%vs 20%,P=0.07)was observed as well as shorter LOS(13 d vs 41.5 d;P=0.001)and smaller requirement of peri-operative Units of Plasma (4 vs 14;P=0.036).Univariate analysis of pre- transplant variables identified platelet count,serum bilirubin,INR and Meld-Na score as predictors of EGD. In the multivariate analysis transplant Meld-Na score (P=0.025,OR:1.175)and pretransplant platelet count(P=0.043,OR:0.956)were independently associated with EGD. CONCLUSION:EGD can be identified preoperatively and is associated with increased morbidity after LRLT. A prompt recognition of EGD can trigger a timely treatment.

Aim:The purpose of this study is to assess the benefit of laparoscopic liver resection(LLR)for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)given recurrence and future need for liver transplantation(LT).Methods:Data on liver resections were gathered from the Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico-Istituto Mediterraneo per i Trapianti e Terapie ad alta specializzazione(IRCCS-ISMETT)from 2003-2021.A retrospective analysis of 1408 consecutive adult patients who had a liver resection was performed with categorization based on the underlying disease process.A sub-analysis studied the 291 patients who had an LLR with an intention to transplant approach after ***:From 2012 to 2020,ISMETT’s mean annual LLR rate was 45%.Data suggests that a laparoscopic approach to iterative surgical treatment for HCC has demonstrated protective *** to open surgery or LT,LLR is protective against the risk of de-listing,post-transplant patient death,tumor recurrence,adhesions,and bleeding in a cirrhotic *** Meier’s analysis showed no difference between post-LT survival curves for those with prior open abdominal surgery or LLR(P=0.658).Conclusion:Laparoscopic surgery has important protective advantages over laparotomy surgery for the surgical treatment of HCC,particularly since treatment is not always *** can be considered a bridge therapy for transplantation,ensuring less crowding of waiting lists,a desirable condition in areas of donor storage.

AIM: To determine the genotypes in Mexican hepatitis Bvirus (HBV) isolates and characterize their precore andcore promoter ***: Forty-nine HBV isolates of Mexico obtainedfrom sera of 15 hepatitis patients, 6 hemodialysis pa-tients, 20 men seeking HIV testing, and 8 AIDS patientswere analyzed. HBV isolates were amplified by PCR,and genotyped by line probe assay (INNO-Lipa HBVGenotyping; INNOGENETICS N V, Ghent, Belgium).HBV genotype confirmation was performed by DNAsequencing part of the sAg region. Precore and core pro-moter mutation characterization was performed by lineprobe assay (INNO-Lipa HBV PreCore; INNOGENETICS NV, Ghent, Belgium).RESULTS: Overall, HBV genotype H was found in 37(75.5%) out of the 49 isolates studied. HBV genotypesG, A, and D were found in 5 (10.2%), 4 (8.2%), and 3(6.1%) isolates, respectively. HBV genotype H was pre-dominant in isolates from hemodialysis patients (100%),hepatitis patients (80%), and men seeking HIV test-ing (75%), and accounted for half of infections in AIDSpatients (50%). Six (12.2%) out of the 49 HBV isolatesshowed both wild type and mutant populations at pre-core codon 28. These mixed wild type and precore mu-tant populations were observed in one HBV genotype Aisolate and in all HBV genotype G isolates. A dual variantcore promoter mutation was observed in 1 (2%) of theisolates, which was genotype ***: HBV genotype H is highly predominantin HBV isolates of Mexico followed by genotypes G, Aand D. A low frequency of precore and core promotermutations is observed in HBV Mexican isolates.

Objective:To report the outcomes of surgery for a contemporary series of patients with locally advanced non-metastatic renal cell carcinoma(RCC)treated at a referral academic centre,focusing on technical nuances and on the value of a multidisciplinary ***:We queried our prospective institutional database to identify patients undergoing surgical treatment for locally advanced(cT3-T4 N0-1 M0)renal masses suspected of RCC at our centre between January 2017 and December ***:Overall,32 patients were included in the analytic *** these,12(37.5%)tumours were staged as cT3a,8(25.0%)as cT3b,5(15.6%)as cT3c,and 7(21.9%)as cT4;6(18.8%)patients had preoperative evidence of lymph node ***(28.1%)patients underwent nephron-sparing surgery while 23(71.9%)received radical nephrectomy.A template-based lymphadenectomy was performed in 12 cases,with evidence of disease in 3(25.0%)at definitive histopathological *** cases of RCC with level IV inferior vena cava thrombosis were successfully treated using liver transplant techniques without the need for extracorporeal *** intraoperative complications were recorded in 3(9.4%)patients,no postoperative major complications(Clavien-Dindo3)were *** histopathological analysis,2(6.2%)patients who underwent partial nephrectomy harboured oncocytoma,while the most common malignant histotype was clear cell RCC(62.5%),with a median Leibovich score of 6(interquartile range 5e7).Conclusion:Locally advanced RCC is a complex and heterogenous disease posing several challenges to surgical *** experience confirms that provided careful patient selection,surgery in experienced hands can achieve favourable perioperative,oncological,and functional outcomes.

Objective The optimal antithrombotic regimen for patients on oral anticoagulation （OAC） after acute coronary syndrome （ACS） and percutaneous coronary intervention （PCI） remains debated. This study sought to evaluate the efficacy and safety of OAC plus clopidogrel with or without aspirin in a real-world setting. Methods We retrospectively analyzed data from an international, multi-center registry be- tween 2003 and 2014 （n = 15,401）. patients with ACS and receiving OAC after PCI were screened. The composite primary endpoint was 1-year all-cause death, re-infarction, or severe bleeding. Results The final analysis enrolled 642 patients including 62 patients （9.7%） with OAC and clopidogrel （dual therapy）, and 580 patients （90.3%） with the combination of aspirin, OAC and clopidogrel （triple therapy）. pa- tients on triple therapy were more often female and were more likely to have comorbidities. There was no significant difference regarding the primary end point between dual therapy with triple therapy patients [17.74% vs. 17.24%; unadjusted hazard ratio （HR）： 1.035; 95% confi- dence interval （CI）： 0.556-1.929; adjusted HR： 1.026; 95% CI： 0.544-1.937]. However, the re-infarction rate was significantly higher in dual therapy than triple therapy patients （14.52% vs. 5.34%; unadjusted HR： 2.807; 95% CI： 1.329-5.928; adjusted HR： 2.333; 95% CI： 1.078-5.047）. In addition, there was no difference between two regimes in all-cause death and severe bleeding. Conclusions In real-life patients with ACS following PCI and with an indication of OAC, triple therapy was not associated with an increased rate of adverse out- comes compared to dual therapy. Moreover, it decreased risk of re-infarction and did not increase risk of severe bleeding.
