Segmental closure of the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean:Insight from detrital geochronology in the East Transbaikalia Basin

The Late Paleozoic–Early Mesozoic Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean extended between the Siberian and Amur–North China *** timing and modalities of the oceanic closure are widely *** is largely accepted that the ocean closed in a scissor-like manner from southwest to northeast(in modern coordinates),though the timing of this process remains *** studies have shown that both western(West Transbaikalia)and eastern(Dzhagda)parts of the ocean closed almost simultaneously at the Early–Middle Jurassic ***,little information on the key central part of the oceanic suture zone is *** performed U-Pb(LA-ICP-MS)dating of detrital zircon from wellcharacterized stratigraphic sections of the central part of the Mongol-Okhotsk suture *** include the initial marine and final continental sequences of the East Transbaikalia Basin,deposited on the northern Argun-Idemeg terrane *** provide new stratigraphic ages for the marine and continental *** revised chronostratigraphy allows assigning an age of~165–155 Ma,to the collisionrelated flexure of the northern Argun-Idemeg terrane and the development of a peripheral foreland *** collisional process took place 5 to10 million years later than in the western and eastern parts of the *** demonstrate that the northern Argun-Idemeg terrane was the last block to collide with the Siberian continent,challenging the widely supported scissor-like model of closure of the MongolOkhotsk *** segments of the ocean closed independently,depending on the initial shape of the paleo continental margins.

Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is one of the most appealing photonic modalities for cancer treatment based on anticancer activity of light-induced photosensitizer-mediated reactive oxygen species(ROS),but a limited depth of light penetration into tissues does not make possible the treatment of deep-seated neoplasms and thus complicates its widespread clinical ***,we introduce the concept of genetically encoded bioluminescence resonance energy transfer(BRET)-activated PDT,which combines an internal light source and a photosensitizer(PS)in a single-genetic construct,which can be delivered to tumors seated at virtually unlimited depth and then triggered by the injection of a substrate to initiate their *** illustrate the concept,we engineered genetic NanoLuc-miniSOG BRET pair,combining NanoLuc luciferase flashlight and phototoxic flavoprotein miniSOG,which generates ROS under luciferase-substrate *** prove the concept feasibility in mice bearing NanoLuc-miniSOG expressing tumor,followed by its elimination under the luciferase-substrate ***,we demonstrate a targeted delivery of NanoLuc-miniSOG gene,via tumor-specific lentiviral particles,into a tumor,followed by its successful elimination,with tumor-growth inhibition(TGI)coefficient exceeding 67%,which confirms a great therapeutic potential of the proposed *** conclusion,this study provides proof-of-concept for deep-tissue“photodynamic”therapy without external light source that can be considered as an alternative for traditional PDT.

Identification of genes involved in the formation of soluble dietary fiber in winter rye grain and their expression in cultivars with different viscosities of wholemeal water extract

The grain of rye(Secale cereale L.) used for baking contains a large amount of non-starch polysaccharides,making it an excellent component of functional foods. But rye grain intended for alcohol production and forage use should have a reduced content of these polysaccharides. A comprehensive parameter that can predict the best field of application for winter rye grain is the viscosity of its wholemeal water ***, our understanding of the genetic background underlying this key trait and associated features of rye grain is poor. By analyzing six Russian winter rye cultivars, we identified the most contrasting forms and characterized the peculiarities of their water-soluble carbohydrates capable of influencing the viscosity of water extracts. Then, using phylogenetic and transcriptomic analyses, we identified in the rye genome many genes encoding putative glycosyltransferases and glycosylhydrolases responsible for the synthesis and degradation of arabinoxylans, mixed-linkage glucans, cellulose, and some other polysaccharides. We determined the dynamics of m RNA abundance for these genes at three stages of kernel development. Comparisons of gene expression levels in two contrasting cultivars revealed specific members of multigene families that may serve as promising targets for manipulating non-starch polysaccharide content in rye grain. High-viscosity cultivars were characterized by up-regulation of many glycosyltransferases involved in the biosynthesis of arabinoxylans and other cell-wall polysaccharides,whereas low-viscosity cultivars showed up-regulation of several genes encoding polysaccharidedegrading enzymes.

We propose a parity-time(PT) symmetric fiber laser composed of two coupled ring cavities with gains and losses,which operates both in PT-symmetric and symmetry-broken regimes depending on the static phase shifts. We perform analytical and numerical analysis by the transfer matrix method taking into account gain saturation and predict laser bistability in the PT-symmetric regime in contrast to a symmetry-broken single-mode *** the PT-broken regime, the generation power counterintuitively increases with an increase of the cavity losses.

Porous Shish-Kebab Structure Prepared from Oriented UHMWPE Films by Processing in Supercritical CO_(2)

For the first time, a highly crystalline porous shish-kebab structure with a high degree of crystallinity was obtained by using a combination of two methods for the formation of porous polymeric materials. A treatment procedure using supercritical carbon dioxide(sc CO_(2))was carried out for oriented ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE) films, which provided special conditions for the crystallization of dissolved UHMWPE macromolecules on the surface of oriented UHMWPE crystals. The prepared porous materials were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The particularity of the obtained porous shish-kebab is the absence of the amorphous phase between lamellar crystals(kebabs). The obtained pores had an oval shape, and they were oriented in the orientation direction of the UHMWPE macromolecules. The pore size ranged from 0.05 μm to 4 μm. Controlling the conditions for the crystallization of the UHMWPE macromolecules using supercritical CO_(2) gives the possibility to control the size of both lamellar disks and pores formed.

Using the laser speckle contrast imaging and wavelet-based analyses,we investigate a latent("hidden")stage of the development of intracranial hemorrhages(ICHs)in newborn *** apply two measures based on the continuous wavelet-transform of blood flow velocity in the sagittal sinus,namely,the spectral energy in distinct frequency ranges and a multiscality degree characterizing complexity of experimental *** show that the wavelet-based multifractal formalism reveals changes in the cerebrovascular blood flow at the development of ICH.

The histone chaperone facilitates chromatin transcription (FACT) plays important roles in essentially every chromatin-associated process and is an important indirect target of the curaxin class of anti-cancer drugs. Curaxins are aromatic compounds that intercalate into DNA and can trap FACT in bulk chromatin, thus interfering with its distribution and its functions in cancer cells. Recent studies have provided mechanistic insight into how FACT and curaxins cooperate to promote unfolding of nucleosomes and chromatin fibers, resulting in genome-wide disruption of contact chromatin domain boundaries, perturbation of higher-order chromatin organization, and global dysregulation of gene expression. Here, we discuss the implications of these insights for cancer biology.

厘清农村劳动力转移与耕地利用可持续集约化之间的关系对于促进农业可持续发展具有重要意义。该研究基于1990—2020年中国省级面板数据,采用超效率SBM模型测算耕地利用可持续集约化水平,运用面板门槛模型探讨农村劳动力转移对耕地利用可持续集约化的影响效应。结果表明:1)1990—2020年中国耕地利用可持续集约化水平总体呈先下降后上升的趋势,区域间差异显著;2)农村劳动力转移对耕地利用可持续集约化存在非线性影响,当农村劳动力转移水平小于0.351时,农村劳动力转移不利于耕地利用可持续集约化的增长;超过这一门槛后,农村劳动力转移对耕地利用可持续集约化产生显著的增长效应;3)农村劳动力转移对耕地利用可持续集约化的影响存在非均衡效应,即农村劳动力转移对农业发达地区与平原地区的促进作用显著,但对农业欠发达地区与山地地区的促进作用尚不显著。基于此,应合理引导农村冗余劳动力非农转移,以推动耕地利用可持续集约化转型;同时,应注意耕地利用可持续集约化提升的自然环境禀赋与农业经济发展水平制约,因地制宜的探索适宜地区条件的耕地利用可持续集约化发展路径。

Nanoparticles(NPs)can be transported via the nose-to-brain(N_(2)B)***,quantitative data on their spatiotemporal dynamics and regulation of the N_(2)B transport are largely *** surveyed metal oxide/hydroxide NPs as magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)contrasts for quantitative N_(2)B *** containing divalent transition metals were the only ones capable of N_(2)B *** T1-weighted(T1W)MRI,we showed that Mn_(3)O_(4)-NPs were readily engulfed by olfactory receptor neurons(ORNs)without disrupting olfactory sensing,we mapped their N_(2)B *** neurons,the Mn_(3)O_(4)-NPs were localized to the cytosol,mitochondria,vesicles,moved at mixed fast and slow axonal transport velocities intraand extra-vesicularly through *** NPs’axonal transport is dependent on neuronal activity and microtubule *** Mn_(3)O_(4)-NPs were trans-synaptically transmitted through at least four synapses across the olfactory ***-synaptic transmission of the NPs was dependent on N-type Ca^(2+)channels and NMDA receptors but blocked by GABAB receptor activation.A five-parameter Weibull signal increase/decrease model fitted to the T1W MRI data allowed for estimating kinetic parameters of Mn_(3)O_(4)-NP accumulation/*** and relative accumulation rates,but not elimination,correlated negatively with the number of synapses from ORNs,indicating a coupling of the NPs’N_(2)B transport with spontaneous neuronal ***,olfactory stimuli(2,5-dimethylpyrazine and acetophenone)significantly modulated and rerouted the Mn_(3)O_(4)-NP N_(2)B transport odor ***,the NPs’trans-synaptic transmission was impaired by aging and the onset of Parkinson’s *** data suggest new approaches to diagnostics,functional neuroimaging,controlling N_(2)B drug delivery.
