Alloy nanoparticles(nanoalloys)are widely applied in heterogeneous catalysts,advanced electrodes,biomaterials,and other *** properties of nanoalloys can be tuned to a significant extent by their structures and compositions,which are governed by the employed synthetic *** such synthesis occurs in nonequilibrium conditions and yields nanoalloys with structures and properties that are different from those obtained in thermodynamic *** this work,we characterize how the non-equilibrium conditions during the synthesis of Cu-Au alloys via physical vapor deposition(PvD)affect their morphology,composition,electronic structure,and reactivity in CO *** used molecular dynamics to simulate the PvD synthesis of Cu-Au nanoalloys through the non-isothermal aggregation of Cu and Au atoms at a 3:1 ratio in the Ar atmosphere to obtain realistic structures of Cu-Au *** to the different aggregation kinetics of Au and Cu atoms,the average Au concentration in the obtained Cu-Au particles varied between 14% and 50% depending on the nanoparticle size and the aggregation *** functional simulations revealed that the reactivity of the obtained Cu-Au clusters toward CO and oxygen as well as Brønsted-Evans-Polanyi relations for CO oxidation significantly depend on whether the clusters had fcc,icosahedral,or amorphous structures and do not strongly correlate with the d-band centers of the adsorption *** study highlights the importance of the non-equilibrium character of nanoalloy structure and composition for their electronic structure and catalytic *** performed analysis of the reactivity of Cu-Au clusters with realistic structures in CO oxidation will help the optimization of Cu-Au catalysts for this societally important reaction.

The state of the art in optical biosensing is focused on reaching high sensitivity at a single wavelength by using any type of optical *** common strategy,however,disregards the promising possibility of simultaneous measurements of a bioanalyte’s refractive index over a broadband spectral ***,we address this issue by introducing the approach of in-fibre multispectral optical sensing(IMOS).The operating principle relies on detecting changes in the transmission of a hollow-core microstructured optical fibre when a bioanalyte is streamed through it via liquid *** offers a unique opportunity to measure the refractive index at 42 wavelengths,with a sensitivity up to ~3000 nm per refractive index unit(RIU)and a figure of merit reaching 99 RIU^(−1) in the visible and near-infra-red spectral *** apply this technique to determine the concentration and refractive index dispersion for bovine serum albumin and show that the accuracy meets clinical needs.

The Application of the Generalized Differential Formulation of the First Law of Thermodynamics for Evidence of the Tidal Mechanism of Maintenance of the Energy and viscous-Thermal Dissipative Turbulent Structure of the Mesoscale Oceanic Eddies

The practical significance of the established generalized differential formula-tion of the first law of thermodynamics (formulated for the rotational coor-dinate system) is evaluated (for the first time and for the mesoscale oceanic eddies) by deriving the general (viscous-compressible-thermal) and partial (incompressible, viscous-thermal) local conditions of the tidal maintenance of the quasi-stationary energy and dissipative turbulent structure of the mesoscale eddy located inside of the individual fluid region of the ther-mally heterogeneous viscous (compressible and incompressible, respective-ly) heat-conducting stratified fluid over the two-dimensional bottom topog-raphy characterized by the horizontal coordinate x along a horizon-tal axis X. Based on the derived partial (incompressible) local condition (of the tidal maintenance of the quasi-stationary energy and viscous-thermal dis-sipative turbulent structure of the mesoscale eddy) and using the calculated vertical distributions of the mean viscous dissipation rate per unit mass and the mean thermal dissipation rate per unit mass in four regions near the observed mesoscale (periodically topographically trapped by nearly two-dimensional bottom topography h(x) eddy located near the northern region of the Yamato Rise in the Japan Sea, the combined analysis of the energy structure of the eddy and the viscous-thermal dissipative structure of turbulence is presented. The convincing evidence is presented of the tidal mechanism of maintenance of the eddy energy and viscous-thermal dissipa-tive structure of turbulence (produced by the breaking internal gravity waves generated by the eddy) in three regions near the Yamato Rise subjected to the observed mesoscale eddy near the northern region of the Yamato Rise of the Japan Sea.

Reformulation of Relativistic Quantum Mechanics Equations with Non-Commutative Sedeons

We present sixteen-component values “sedeons”, generating associative non-commutative space-time algebra. The generalized relativistic wave equations based on sedeonic wave function and space-time operators are proposed. We demonstrate that sedeonic second-order wave equation for massive field can be reformulated as the quasi-classical equation for the potentials of the field or in equivalent form as the Maxwell-like equations for the field intensities. The sedeonic first-order Dirac-like equations for massive and massless fields are also discussed.

In present paper we develop the description of massless fields on the basis of space-time algebra of sixteen-component sedeons. The generalized sedeonic second-order equation for unified gravito-electromagnetic (GE) field describing simultaneously weak gravity and electromagnetism is proposed. The relations for the GE field energy, momentum and Lorentz invariants are derived. The special case of GE field described by first-order sedeonic wave equation is also discussed.

Influence of Prospecting and Crude Oil Production on Geoecological Parameters of Permafrost

The large reserves of oil are disposed in zones of permafrost in shelf and continental fields. In Europe the subarctic and arctic tundra are abundant only in Nenetsky autonomous area and in the north-east of the republic of Komi. Oil and gas production activity has threatened richest biological resources and health of the population of the region. A singularity of petroliferous fields of the north of Russia is the existence of the thick strata of permafrost. On top of them different heat-insulating overlying layers (snow, biogenic covers) reside. State and dynamics of permafrost cause progressing dangerous exogenic geoecological processes, which are exhibited completely. State of permafrost is instituted by exchange of heat in near-surface strata of a geological section. During the development of oil fields there is a disturbance of a temperature schedule of permafrost. For estimation of technical attack the analytical computational method of influence of the different factors on value of annual heat exchange and prediction of geocryological conditions is proposed. It is shown, that such dangerous phenomena as degradation of permafrost and thermokarst would develop in the first place, which would cause the destruction of natural ecosystems.

Intake of Cl, Br, I, Se in Human Body with Food in Central Regions of the European Part of Russia

Since most of the central regions of the European part of Russia are considered selenium and iodine deficient, the assessment of modern real consumption of chlorine, bromine, iodine and selenium by population of these regions with different diets is an important constituent part of medical monitoring. In this paper, a brief analysis of the impact of these elements on the human body is given. A number of consumed foodstuffs in different food rations (diets) were assessed. Six selected basic food rations, which most fully reflect the specific features of nutrition in the Russian Federation, were chosen. The analysis of the concentration of chlorine, bromine, iodine and selenium in a wide range of food and agricultural products was carried out. The daily intake of these elements in the human body from the selected diets was calculated. A comparison of the real income of chlorine, bromine, iodine and selenium in the human body with a physiologically needed intake was performed. It is proposed to use the coefficient of Kr, which is the ratio of actual intake of the element in the human body to physiologically needed intake. Based on this analysis assessed insufficient or excess supply of chlorine, bromine, iodine and selenium in the human body with these diets in the central regions of the European part of Russia was evaluated.

High-permeance crosslinked PTMSP thin-film composite membranes as supports for CO_2 selective layer formation

In the development of the composite gas separation membranes for post-combustion CO_2 capture, little attention is focused on the optimization of the membrane supports, which satisfy the conditions of this technology. The primary requirements to the membrane supports are concerned with their high CO_2 permeance. In this work, the membrane supports with desired characteristics were developed as high-permeance gas separation thin film composite(TFC) membranes with the thin defect-free layer from the crosslinked highly permeable polymer, poly[1-(trimethylsilyl)-1-propyne](PTMSP). This layer is insoluble in chloroform and can be used as a gutter layer for the further deposition of the CO_2-selective materials from the organic solvents. Crosslinking of PTMSP was performed using polyethyleneimine(PEI) and poly(ethyleneglycol) diglycidyl ether(PEGDGE) as crosslinking agents. Optimal concentrations of PEI in PTMSP and PEGDGE in methanol were selected in order to diminish the undesirable effect on the final membrane gas transport characteristics. The conditions of the kiss-coating technique for the deposition of the thin defect-free PTMSP-based layer, namely, composition of the casting solution and the speed of movement of the porous commercial microfiltration-grade support, were optimized. The procedure of post-treatment with alcohols and alcohol solutions was shown to be crucial for the improvement of gas permeance of the membranes with the crosslinked PTMSP layer having thickness ranging within 1-2.5 μm. The claimed membranes showed the following characteristics: CO_2 permeance is equal to 50—54 m^3(STP)/(m^2 h bar)(18,500—20,000 GPU), ideal CO_2/N_2 selectivity is 3.6-3.7, and their selective layers are insoluble in chloroform. Thus, the developed highpermeance TFC membranes are considered as a promising supports for further modification by enhanced CO_2 selective layer formation.
