Field work focused on the Kuedinskie Kluchiki locality, Perm region, Urals, Russia, which contains a rich assemblage of diverse fossil organisms including higher plants(equisetophytes, pteridosperms, ginkgophytes, conifers, vojnovskyans) represented by stems, leaves and reproductive organs;invertebrates(mollusks, arthropods), and tetrapods(temnospondyl amphibians, seymouriamorphs, cotylosaurs, synapsids, diapsids), as well as bony fishes. General characteristics of the taxonomical composition of the Kuedinskie Kluchiki locality are given. A new peltaspermalean pteridosperm taxon, Compsopteris longipinnata sp. nov., and a voltzialean conifer Archaeovoltzia kuedensis sp. nov. are described. General considerations on the paleoecologic and paleogeographic conditions of the Kuedinskie Kluchiki locality origin are given.

Electrochemical detection of 3-methyl-4-nitrophenol (MNP) in direct phenol oxidation occurs at high potentials and generally leads to progressive passivation of the electrochemical sensor. This study describes the use of a carbon fiber microelectrode modified with a tetrasulfonated nickel phthalocyanine complex for the detection of MNP at a lower potential than that of direct phenol oxidation. The MNP voltammogram showed the presence of an anodic peak at -0.11 v vs SCE, corresponding to the oxidation of the hydroxylamine group generated after the reduction of the nitro group. The effect of buffer pH on the peak current and SWv parameters such as frequency, scan increment, and pulse amplitude were studied and optimized to have better electrochemical response of the proposed sensor. With these optimal parameters, the calibration curve shows that the peak current varied linearly as a function of MNP concentration, leading to a limit of detection (LoD) of 1.1 μg/L. These results show an appreciable sensitivity of the sensor for detecting the MNP at relatively low potentials, making it possible to avoid passivation phenomena.

Onions are a horticultural crop of great economic, dietary and medicinal importance, and are highly prized by the Ivorian population. However, production remains low, due to a number of constraints, including parasitic attacks. The most frequent is fusariosis caused by Fusarium sp., a pathogen that causes enormous damage to onion crops. Faced with these attacks, chemical control appears to be ineffective, with consequences for human health and the environment. This is why the search for effective alternative methods that respect the environment and human health is so necessary. It is in this context that this study was carried out, with the general aim of controlling fusarium wilt in onion crops, with a view to improving onion production in Ivory Coast through the use of effective microorganisms. The experimental set-up used for this purpose was a fisher block with complete randomization, comprising three replicates. A fungal spore concentration of 106 spore/mL of Fusarium sp., three doses (1%;2.5% and 5% v/v) of EM and one dose of a chemical fungicide (30 mL/16L) were tested on young onion plants. Each block consisted of nine sub-plots with nine treatments. Health parameters (incidence and severity) and agronomic parameters (growth and yield) were assessed. Microbiological analysis of the EM revealed the presence of nine morphotypes of Trichoderma sp., Aspergillus clavatus, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus sp., Penicillium sp., Rhizopus sp., lactic acid bacteria of the Bacillus family and the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Field experimentation showed that the 5% EM microbial solution reduced the incidence and severity of fusariosis compared with the chemical fungicide, and proved to be the best. This dose reduced yield losses by 7.14%, while improving onion growth and yield by over 5%. The results demonstrated the ability of the EM solution to effectively control the causal agent of basal rot in onion crops.

A new species Lepidopteris baodensis *** to the family Peltaspermaceae and represented by two ultimate pinnae in the collection under study,was recently discovered at the Baijiagou of Baode,Shanxi,China,from the Upper Permian Sunjiagou *** lower surface of the ultimate rachis,the midrib and secondary veins is covered with triangular,trapezoid,rounded,or ligulate subepidermal swellings,which show different natures from intercalary *** is one of typical elements of the Late Permian Euramerican *** Schimper erected the genus Lepidopteris in 1869,the entire epidermal structure of subepidermal swellings had been *** new species *** clearly showing the distinguished epidermal structure of subepidermal swellings,not only enlarges and supplements our knowledge in biology and taxonomy of Lepidopteris as well as the Upper Permian stratigraphy of China,but also provides an opportunity to understand the relationship between Euramerican floras and Cathaysian floras in paleoclimatic,paleoenvironmental and paleogeographic context.

The Huadu flora of Guangdong Province, South China contains the lepidodendrid Lepidodendron shanyangense Wu et He, its putative rhizophore Stigmaria cf. ficoides （Brongniart） Sternberg; sphenophyte s.l. Archaeocalamites scrobiculatus （Brongniart） Stur; bowmanitid Sphenophyllum tenerrimum （Ettingshausen） Stur; pteridophyll Sphenopteris sp. of uncertain taxonomic position; undetermined ferns gen. et sp. nov.; lyginopterid pteridosperm Rhodeopteridium hsianghsiangense （Sze） Zhang, Zhao et Wu, a trigonocarpoid pteridosperm represented by fronds and isolated pinnules of Paripteris gigantea （Sternberg） Gothan, male fructifications of Potoniea sp., and seeds of Trigonocarpus sp. Ecologically, the Early Carboniferous （visean） Huadu vegetation was divided into two neighboring communities：（1） a near-shore hydrophilous ＂community A＂ with predominating Archaeocalamites and Rhodeopteridium; and （2） a wet forest ＂community B＂ with predominating shrubby trigonocarpalean pteridosperm Paripteris gigantea （Sternberg） Gothan and tall tree-like lepidodendrid Lepidodendron shanyangense Wu et He. The Huadu vegetation was physiognomically similar to present-day low-latitude mangrove forest.

The magnetic activity of solar-type stars generally increases with stellar rotation rate. The increase, however, saturates for fast rotation. The Babcock-Leighton mechanism of stellar dynamos saturates as well when the mean tilt angle of active regions approaches ninety degrees. Saturation of magnetic activity may be a consequence of this property of the Babcock-Leighton mechanism. Stellar dynamo models with a tilt angle proportional to the rotation rate are constructed to probe this *** versions of the model- treating the tilt angles globally and using Joy＇s law for its latitude dependence- are considered. Both models show a saturation of dynamogenerated magnetic flux at high rotation rates. The model with latitude-dependent tilt angles also shows a change in dynamo regime in the saturation region. The new regime combines a cyclic dynamo at low latitudes with an（almost） steady polar dynamo.

Mesoporous LaMnO3 perovskite catalysts with high surface area were synthesized by using the recently developed hard templating method designated as ＂nanocasting＂.Ordered mesoporous silica designated as SBA-15 was used as the hard *** was found that the surface area of the nanocast perovskites can be tuned（80–190 m2/g）by varying the aging temperature of the SBA-15 *** LaMnO3 catalysts showed high conversion efficiencies for the total oxidation of methanol under steady state conditions,the one with the highest value of surface area being the best catalysts,as *** studies were performed for all of the synthesized *** constants were found to vary in accordance with the specific surface area of the nanocast catalyst which depends on the aging temperature of the parent *** the rate constants obtained from experimental conversions at various space velocities（19500 to 78200 h〈sup〉–1）,values of activation energy and pre-exponential factor for the three nanocast LaMnO3 catalysts were determined by the linear regression of the Arrhenius *** is observed that the activation energy for all the catalysts remain constant irrespective of the variation in specific surface ***,a linear relationship was found to exist between the pre-exponential factor and specific surface areas of the catalysts indicating that the rates per unit surface area remains the same for all the catalysts.

The genus Woodwardia,which together with the genera Anchistea and Lorinseria comprise the subfamily Woodwardioideae of Blechnaceae,has a disjunct distribution across Central and North America,Europe and the temperate to tropical areas of *** records of Woodwardia occur throughout the Paleogene and Neogene of North America,Europe and ***,well-preserved fertile pinna fossils of this genus have not yet been reported in South *** this paper,a new species,*** Naugolnykh et Song,*** described from the middle Eocene of the Changchang Basin,Hainan Island,South *** and micromorphological features of the fertile pinna show a straight pinna rachis,alternate,subtriangular pinnules,acute pinnule apices,almost entire or slightly undulate pinnule margins,long-ovoid sori,stalked sporangia and spores with wing-like folds on the surface,which are characterised in ***,the present fossil is most similar to the extant species Woodwardia japonica,which mostly grows in warm and moist *** discovery of this new species from the Changchang Basin of Hainan Island indicates that this genus has been distributed in the low-latitude tropical regions of South China from as early as the middle *** on this find,and previous studies of other ferns from the same site,we infer that the climate of the Palaeo-Hainan landscape during deposition of the Changchang Formation was warm and humid,similar to conditions prevailing today across this region.

Determination of Sulpiride by Linear Sweep Stripping voltammetry at a Mercury Electrode

This paper reports the electrochemical properties of sulpiride at a mercury electrode, especially its adsorptive characteristic. Sulpiride dissolved in a supporting electrolyte of a McIlvaine buffer at pH 6 8 represents a sensitive and well defined reduction wave by linear sweep stripping voltammetry. This method is based on the pre concentration and the reduction of sulpiride at a hung mercury drop electrode. The reduction peak potential is -1 72 v( vs . Ag AgCl) and the peak current is proportional to the concentration of sulpiride in the range of 0 1-0 6 μg/mL. The detection limit is 0 025 μg/mL obtained under the experimental conditions selected in this work. The electrochemical properties of this system were investigated, and the proposed method was applied to the determination of sulpiride in pharmaceutical tablets with satisfactory results. It was compared well with the Uv spectrophotometric method, showing a superior sensitivity.
