BACKGROUND Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)is the treatment of choice for early gastric cancer and premalignant gastric *** some cases,ESD induced ulcer heals as a polypoid nodular scar(PNS).These scars may make the physicians raise several clinical implications such as post-ESD neoplastic *** SUMMARY We described a case of gastric ESD induced PNS which is regressed after Helicobacter pylori(***)eradication.A 58-year-old male patient was referred to the outpatient clinic for evaluation and treatment of gastric low-grade dysplasia(LGD).ESD was performed.A PNS was developed at the ESD *** endoscopic biopsy was done and there was no histological evidence of remnant tumor or recurrence but a hyperplastic mucosal *** PNS showed increase in size in follow-up endoscopy,and the biopsy specimen demonstrated *** *** eradication was done and the PNS was *** *** eradication is considerable for the regression of PNS if *** infesta tion is confirmed.

Introduction Neuroendocrine tumors(NETs)are neoplasms with variable malignant potential that may arise from neuroendocrine *** gastrointestinal tract is a common site for primary NETs and annually 1.3 for every 100,000 persons are newly detected[1,2].Although gastrointestinal NETs are common in the small bowel,appendix,rectum,and stomach,those that arise from the extra-hepatic bile duct are extremely rare(0.1%–0.4%)[3-5].

AIM: The regional distributions and relative frequencies of some gastric endocrine cells of C57BL/6 mice were studied by immunohistochemical method using seven types of specific antisera against chromogranin A (CGA), serotonin, somatostatin, gastrin, cholecystokinin (CCK)-8, glucagon and human pancreatic polypeptide (HPP) after subcutaneous implantation of murine lung carcinoma (3LL) cells. METHODS: The experimental animals were divided into two groups, one is non-implanted sham and the other is 3LL-implanted group. Samples were collected from the two regions of stomach (fundus and pylorus) at 28 d after implantation of 3LL cells (1x105 cell/mouse). RESULTS: In this study, all the seven types of immunoreactive (IR) cells were identified except for HPP. Most of these IR cells in the gastric portion were generally spherical or spindle in shape (open-type cell) while cells showing round in shape (closed-type cell) were found occasionally. The regional distributions of gastric endocrine cells in the 3LL-implanted group were similar to those of non-implanted sham. However, significant decreases of some types of IR cells were detected in 3LL-implanted group compared to those of non-implanted sham. In addition, the IR cells showing degranulation were numerously detected in 3LL-implanted group. CGA-, serotonin- and somatostatin-IR cells in the fundus and pylorus regions, and gastrin-IR cells in the pylorus regions of 3LL-implanted groups significantly decreased compared to those of non-implanted sham. However, no changes on frequencies of CCK-8- and glucagon-IR cells were demonstrated between 3LL-implanted and non-implanted groups. CONCLUSION: Endocrine cells are the anatomical units responsible for the production of gut hormones, and the change in their density would reflect a change in the capacity of producing these hormones. Integration of Machining and Measuring Processes Using On-Machine Measurement Technology

This paper presents an integration methodology for ma chining and measuring processes using OMM (On-Machine Measurement) technology b ased on CAD/CAM/CAI integration concept. OMM uses a CNC machining center as a me asuring station by changing the tools into measuring probes such as touch-type, laser and vision. Although the measurement accuracy is not good compared to tha t of the CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), there are distinctive advantages us ing OMM in real situation. In this paper, two topics are handled to show the eff ectiveness of the machining and measuring process integration: (1) inspection pl anning strategy for sculptured surface machining and (2) tool path compensation for profile milling process. For the first topic, as a first step, effective mea suring point locations are determined to obtain optimum results for given sampli ng numbers. Two measuring point selection methods are suggested based on the CAD /CAM/CAI integration concept: (1) by the prediction of cutting errors and (2) by considering cutter contact points to avoid the measurement errors caused by cus ps. As a next step, the TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) algorithm is applied to minimize the probe moving distance. Appropriate simulations and experiments are performed to verify the proposed inspection planning strategy, and the results are analyzed. For the second topic, a methodology for profile milling error comp ensation is presented by using an ANN (Artificial Neural Network) model trained by the inspection database of OMM system. First, geometric and thermal errors of the machining center are compensated using a closed-loop configuration for the improvement of machining and inspection accuracy. AIM: To examine the effect of intravitreal adenoviral vector-mediated tristetraprolin(Ad-TTP) on VEGF m RNA expression in a rat model of laser-induced choroidal ***: Ad-TTP was prepared using a commercial kit. Retinal laser-induced photocoagulation(10 spots per eye) was performed on rats in this experimental choroidal neovascularization(CNV) model. Rats were divided into four groups: control(single intravitreal injection of balanced salt solution, n =10), laser-induced CNV(photocoagulation only, n =20), laser-induced CNV plus Ad-TTP injection(photocoagulation plus a single intravitreal Ad-TTP injection, n =20) and Ad-TTP injection only(n =10). Changes in choroidal morphology were evaluated in ten rats in the laser only and the laser plus Ad-TTP groups. Two weeks after laser injury, the size of CNV was calculated by perfusion with high-molecular-weight fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC)-dextran. VEGF m RNA expression in retina-choroid tissue from ten rats in each group was measured by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). RESULTS: Two weeks after treatment, the area of laser-induced CNV was reduced by approximately 60% in the rats given the Ad-TTP injection compared with that in the laser-only group. There was a tendency toward decreased VEGF m RNA expression in the Ad-TTP injection ***: A single intravitreal injection of Ad-TTP significantly suppressed CNV size in this experimental laser-induced CNV model. Ad-TTP injection also decreased VEGF m RNA expression compared with that inthe laser-induced CNV group. The present study is meaningful as the first study to investigate the effect of tristetraprolin delivered via intravitreal injection.

Optic radiation injury in patients with aneurismal subarachnoid hemorrhage: a preliminary diffusion tensor imaging report

Visual field defect is one of the various clinical manifestations in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage（SAH）. Little is known about the pathogenic mechanism of visual field defect in SAH. In the current study,we investigated the diffusion tensor imaging （DTI） finding of the optic radiation in patients with SAH followingrupture of a cerebral artery aneurysm. We recruited 21 patients with aneurismal SAH （12 males, 9 females, mean age, 52.67 years; range, 41–68 years） who showed no definite lesion along the visual ***-one age-and sex-matched normal control subjects were also recruited. DTI data were acquired at an average of 5.9 weeks （range： 3–12 weeks） after onset and reconstruction of the optic radiation was performed using DTI-Studio software. The fractional anisotropy value, apparent diffusion coefficient value,and fiber number of the optic radiation were measured. The fractional anisotropy value of the optic radiation was significantly decreased, and the apparent diffusion coefficient value was significantly increased, in patients with aneurismal SAH than in normal control subjects. However, there was no significant difference in the fiber number of the optic radiation between patients with aneurismal SAH and normal control subjects. The decrement of fractional anisotropy value and increment of apparent diffusion coefficient value of the optic radiation in patients with aneurismal SAH suggest optic radiation injury. Therefore, we recommend a thorough evaluation for optic radiation injury in patient with aneurismal SAH.
