Flexible thermocouple using a thermoelectric graphene fiber with a seamless junction

Temperature is an important physical variable that indicates the condition of the human body and artificial *** wearable applications require the development of temperature sensors with different form *** this study,a fiber-shaped thermoelectric temperature sensor is fabricated using a continuous graphene fiber whose two halves possess different reduction states.A seamless junction is formed by partially reducing a wet-spun graphene oxide fiber with hydroiodic acid(HI)solutions of different ***-half of the fiber is mildly reduced with 0.97 wt%HI,while the other half is highly reduced with 30.6 wt%*** different reduction states of the graphene composite fiber result in different Seebeck coefficients,allowing for the fabrication of a fiber-shaped graphene thermocou-ple without any laborious *** flexible graphene thermocouple exhibits high sensitivity with a thermopower of 12.5μV K^(-1)in the temperature range of room temperature to∼70℃.Furthermore,it exhibits high linearity with a correlation coefficient exceeding 0.995 and fast response with a time constant of 0.24 *** to its mechanical robustness and flexibility,the stand-alone graphene ther-mocouple can be knitted into a cotton fabric glove,which presents a fast response to environmental changes without any external power *** work offers a unique fabrication method for producing a high-performance,flexible thermocouple that features a seamless and clear junction without the use of additional *** alternative method eliminates the complicated assembly processes typically required for conventional thermocouples.

Na superionic conductor (NASICON)-type Na3V2(PO4)3 (NVP) has been regarded as a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). However, NVP suffers from poor cyclability and rate capability because of its intrinsically low electronic conductivity. Herein, we successfully syn thesized N-doped carb on-wrapped Na3V2(PO4)3 (NC@NVP) through the carb on izati on of polydopami ne, which is rich in nitrogen species. The strong adhesion properties of the polydopamine lead to effective and homogeneous wrapping of NVP particles, and it I is further turned into a con ductive N-doped carb on n etwork itself, providi ng facile diffusi on of electr ons and Na+ i ons duri ng battery operation. NC@NVP displays remarkable electrochemical performanee, even under harsh operating conditions, such as a high rate capability (discharge capacity of 70.88, 49.21 mA·h·g^-1 at 50 and 100 C), long-term cycling stability (capacity retention of 94.77% over 1,000 cycles at 20 C), and high-temperature cycling (capacity retention of 92.0% after 500 cycles at 60 ℃).

Evaluation of the safety of hair essence containing 0.05% purified bee venom on the skin and eyes of rabbits

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the safety of hair essence containing 0.05%purified bee venom(HE-PBV)on the skin and eyes of New Zealand White ***:HE-PBV which contained 0.05%PBV,purified water,and glycerin,was used as the test *** skin-irritation test(SIT)and eye-irritation test(EIT)were conducted according to the Draize *** the SIT,HE-PBV(0.5 m L)dropped gauze was attached both intact and abraded skin for 24 *** other side of the skin was used as *** 24 and 72 h,the treatment site was observed and scored according to evaluation criteria for skin *** the EIT,the rabbits were divided into two groups:eye-washed(three rabbits)and non-eye-washed(six rabbits).HE-PBV(0.1 m L)was squirted into the right eye of *** left eye was untreated and used as a ***,20-30-s later,the eyes of rabbits in the eye-washed group were washed with^50 m L of physiologic(0.9%)salt ***,1,2,3,4 and 7 d after the start of the EIT,the eyes and behavior of the rabbits were *** degree of eye irritation elicited by HE-PBV was determined in three steps and then the criteria of the classification of eye-irritation ***:The SIT revealed erythema and edema at the site of HE-PBV *** 72 h,the body weight of rabbits was reduced slightly,but other symptoms(except erythema and edema)were not *** Primary Irritation Index score was0.6,and HE-PBV was deemed to be a slight *** EIT did not show mortality or body-weight fluctuation,but hyperemic conjunctiva and eyelid closure were noted after HE-PBV *** for these results,the score for the ophthalmic response on days 1,2,3,4 and 7 was 0,and HE-PBV was deemed to be a ***:These data suggest that HE-PBV did not elicit eye irritation,but was a slight irritant to the skin of rabbits;the latter slight would have been due to the excipients used in manufacture of the hair essence because PBV has been shown to be safe.

Uncertainty analysis of flow rate measurement for multiphase flow using CFD

The venturi meter has an advantage in its use,because it can measure flow without being much affected by the type of the measured fluid or flow ***,it has excellent versatility and is being widely applied in many *** flow of a liquid containing air is a representative example of a multiphase flow and exhibits complex flow *** particular,the greater the gas volume fraction（GVF）,the more inhomogeneous the flow *** a result,using a venturi meter to measure the rate of a flow that has a high GVF generates an *** this study,the cause of the error occurred in measuring the flow rate for the multiphase flow when using the venturi meter for analysis by *** ensure the reliability of this study,the accuracy of the multiphase flow models for numerical analysis was verified through comparison between the calculated results of numerical analysis and the experimental *** a result,the Grace model,which is a multiphase flow model established by an experiment with water and air,was confirmed to have the highest ***,the characteristics of the internal flow Held about the multiphase flow analysis result generated by applying the Grace model were analyzed to find the cause of the uncertainty occurring when measuring the flow rate of the multiphase flow using the venturi meter.A phase separation phenomenon occurred due to a density difference of water and air inside the venturi,and flow inhomogeneity happened according to the flow velocity difference of each *** was confirmed that this flow inhomogeneity increased as the GVF increased due to the uncertainty of the flow measurement.

In this study the partially divorced eutectic microstructure ofα-Mg andβ-Mg17Al12was investigated by electron backscatter diffraction,transmission electron microscopy,and phase-field modeling in hypoeutectic Mg-Al *** orientation relationships between the individual eutecticαgrains,eutecticβphase,and primaryαgrains were *** the amount of eutectic morphology is primarily determined by the Al content,the in-depth microstructure analyses and the phase-field simulation suggest non-interactive nucleation and growth of eutecticαphase in theβphase grown on the interdendritic primaryα***,phase-field simulations showed a preferred nucleation sequence where theβphase nucleates first and subsequently triggers the nucleation of eutecticαphase at the movingβphase solidification front,which supports the microstructural analysis results.

Simulation of Suspended Sediment in the Yellow and East China Seas

Described is an initial attempt to simulate the suspended sediment dynamics relating to tidal and wave forcing during summertime in June 1980 and August 1981 for the Yellow and East China Seas continental shelf. The cohesive/non-cohesive sediment resuspension and movement generated by the interaction between current and wave are modeled by use of ECOMSED and WAM Cycle 4. Model results are compared with observations in US-China Marine Sedimentation Dynamics Program performed for 1980-81 at off the Changjiang estuary. The main features of simulations show that suspended sediment concentrations during the summer decreased markedly offshore as observed during the simulation periods. As for some discrepancies for the mouth of the estuary with high river discharges, i.e., the Changjiang River, the model did not properly reproduce the over-mixing situation in the summer; thus distinct vertical concentration variation in this local region is not agreeable with observation. However, general dispersal patterns of suspended sediment movement seem to be agreeably reproduced for the nearshore shallow region. Some of the procedures of simulation and results are presented and discussed.

Extensive frontal focused ultrasound Check for updates mediated blood-brain barrier opening for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease:a proof-of-concept study

Background:Focused ultrasound(FUS)-mediated blood-brain barrier(BBB)opening has shown efficacy in removal of amyloid plaque and improvement of cognitive functions in preclinical studies,but this is rarely reported in clinical *** study was conducted to evaluate the safety,feasibility and potential benefits of repeated extensive BBB ***:In this open-label,prospective study,six patients with Alzheimer's disease(AD)were enrolled at Severance Hospital in Korea between August 2020 and September *** of them completed the ***-mediated BBB opening,targeting the bilateral frontal lobe regions over 20 cm^(3),was performed twice at three-month *** resonance imaging,^(18)F-Florbetaben(FBB)positron emission tomography,Caregiver-Administered Neuropsychiatric Inventory(CGA-NPI)and comprehensive neuropsychological tests were performed before and after the ***:FUS targeted a mean volume of 21.1±2.7 cm^(3)and BBB opening was confirmed at 95.7%±9.4%of the targeted *** frontal-to-other cortical region FBB standardized uptake value ratio at 3 months after the procedure showed a slight decrease,which was statistically significant,compared to the pre-procedure value(-1.6%,0.986 vs 1.002,P=0.043).The CGA-NPI score at 2 weeks after the second procedure significantly decreased compared to baseline(2.2±3.0 vs 8.6±6.0,P=0.042),but recovered after 3 months(5.2±5.8 vs 8.6±6.0,P=0.89).No adverse effects were ***:The repeated and extensive BBB opening in the frontal lobe is safe and feasible for patients with *** addition,the BBB opening is potentially beneficial for amyloid removal in AD patients.

MicroRNA miR-252-5p regulates the Notch signaling pathway by targeting Rab6 in Drosophila wing development

The Notch signaling pathway plays a central role in the development of various ***,dysregulation of microRNAs(miRNAs),which are crucial regulators of gene expression,can disrupt signaling pathways at all stages of *** Notch signaling is involved in wing development in Drosophila,the mechanism underlying miRNA-based regulation of the Notch signaling pathway is ***,we report that loss of Drosophila miR-252 increases the size of adult wings,whereas the overexpression of miR-252 in specific compartments of larval wing discs leads to patterning defects in the adult *** miR-252 overexpression-induced wing phenotypes were caused by aberrant Notch signaling with intracellular accumulation of the full-length Notch receptor during development,which could be due to defects in intracellular Notch trafficking associated with its recycling to the plasma membrane and autophagy-mediated ***,we identified Rab6 as a direct target of miR-252-5p;Rab6 encodes a small Ras-like GTPase that regulates endosomal trafficking *** with this finding,RNAi-mediated downregulation of Rab6 led to similar defects in both wing patterning and Notch ***,co-overexpression of Rab6 completely rescued the wing phenotype associated with miR-252 overexpression,further supporting that Rab6 is a biologically relevant target of miR-252-5p in the context of wing ***,our data indicate that the miR-252-5p-Rab6 regulatory axis is involved in Drosophila wing development by controlling the Notch signaling pathway.

A machine learning approach for predicting human shortest path task performance

Finding a shortest path for a given pair of vertices in a graph drawing is one of the fundamental tasks for qualitative evaluation of graph *** this paper,we present the first machine learning approach to predict human shortest path task performance,including accuracy,response time,and mental *** predict the shortest path task performance,we utilize correlated quality metrics and the ground truth data from the shortest path ***,we introduce path faithfulness metrics and show strong correlations with the shortest path task ***,to mitigate the problem of insufficient ground truth training data,we use the transfer learning method to pre-train our deep model,exploiting the correlated quality *** results using the ground truth human shortest path experiment data show that our models can successfully predict the shortest path task *** particular,model MSP achieves an MSE(i.e.,test mean square error)of 0.7243(i.e.,data range from−17.27 to 1.81)for prediction.
