AIM: Oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC), natural polyphenolic compounds found in plants, are known to have antioxidant and anti-cancer effects. We investigated whether the anti-cancer effects of the OPC are induced by apoptosis on human colorectal cancer cell line, ***: Colorectal cancer cell line, SNU-C4 was cultured in RPMI 1640 medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum. The cytotoxic effect of OPC was assessed by 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenylt-etrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. To find out the apoptotic cell death, 4, 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) staining,terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay, reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), and caspase-3 enzyme assay were ***: In this study, cytotoxic effect of OPC on SNUC4 cells appeared in a dose-dependent manner. OPC treatment (100 μg/mL) revealed typical morphological apoptotic features. Additionally OPC treatment (100 μg/mL)increased level of BAX and CASPASE-3, and decreased level of BCL-2 mRNA expression. Caspase-3 enzyme activity was also significantly increased by treatment of OPC (100 μg/mL) compared with ***: These data indicate that OPC caused cell death by apoptosis through caspase pathways on human colorectal cancer cell line, SNU-C4.

AIM： The genes were divided into seven categories according to biological function; apoptosis-related, immune response-related, signal transduction-related, cell cyclerelated, cell growth-related, stress response-related and transcription-related genes. METHODS： We compared the gene expression profiles of SNU-C4 cells between amygdalin-treated （5 mg/mL, 24 h） and non-treated groups using cDNA microarray analysis. We selected genes downregulated in cDNA microarray and investigated mRNA levels of the genes by RT- PC R. RESULTS： Microarray showed that amygdalin downregulated especially genes belonging to cell cycle category： exonuclease 1 （EXO1）, ATP-binding cassette, sub-family F, member 2 （ABCF2）, MRE11 meiotic recombination 11 homolog A （MRE11A）, topoisomerase （DNA） Ⅰ （TOP1）, and FK506 binding protein 12-rapamycin-associated protein 1 （FRAP1）. RT-PCR analysis revealed that mRNA levels of these genes were also decreased by amygdalin treatment in SNU-C4 human colon cancer cells. CONCLUSION： These results suggest that amygdalin have an anticancer effect via downregulation of cell cycle-related genes in SNU-C4 human colon cancer cells, and might be used for therapeutic anticancer drug.

Flexible Zn-based batteries have attracted increasing research interest as essential components of wearable energy storage ***,the advancement of flexible aqueous Zn-based batteries based on Co-Ni layered double hydroxide (CoNi-LDH) as the cathode material is hampered by their poor cycling stability and the corrosiveness of alkaline ***,CoNi-LDH nanosheets enriched with H vacancies (CoNi-LDH(v)) were constructed on a flexible carbon cloth (CC) substrate via electrochemical deposition and *** Zn-based battery comprising CoNi-LDH(v)@CC as the cathode exhibited highly reversible conversion reactions and stable operation in 3 M ZnSO4electrolyte (pH=4).The battery delivered an excellent specific capacity (225 mA h g^(-1),0.26 mA h cm^(-2)),acceptable cycling stability(53.9%,900 cycles),and high discharging *** abundant H vacancies served as active sites for the reversible intercalation of Zn^(2+)and the extravasation of NO_(3)-generated channels and space for Zn^(2+)transport and storage,together enabling an excellent Zn^(2+)storage ***,a sandwich-structured solid-state CoNi-LDH(v)@CC//Zn@CC battery was fabricated and was found to exhibit a noteworthy electrochemical performance and mechanical *** a proof of concept,the unencapsulated battery powered a digital watch under various deformation conditions and operated stably for 80 ***,the flexible battery displayed outstanding customizability,maintaining an open-circuit voltage of 1.42 V even after being cut *** proposed engineering strategy contributes to the realization of textiles with truly wearable energy-storage devices.

All-solid-state batteries(ASSBs)are pursued due to their potential for better safety and high energy ***,the energy density of the cathode for ASSBs does not seem to be satisfactory due to the low utilization of active materials(AMs)at high *** small amount of solid electrolyte(SE)powder in the cathode,poor electrochemical performance is often observed due to contact loss and non-homogeneous distribution of AMs and SEs,leading to high tortuosity and limitation of lithium and electron transport ***,we propose a novel cathode design that can achieve high volumetric energy density of 1258 Wh L^(-1)at high AM content of 85 wt%by synergizing the merits of AM@SE core–shell composite particles with conformally coated thin SE shell prepared from mechanofusion process and small SE *** core–shell structure with an intimate and thin SE shell guarantees high ionic conduction pathway while unharming the electronic *** addition,small SE particles play the role of a filler that reduces the packing porosity in the cathode composite electrode as well as between the cathode and the SE separator *** systematic demonstration of the optimization process may provide understanding and guidance on the design of electrodes for ASSBs with high electrode density,capacity,and ultimately energy density.

Liver biopsy is the gold standard for evaluating the degree of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic liver disease. However, due to the many limitations of liver biopsy, there has been much interest in the use of noninvasive techniques for this purpose. Among these techniques real-time two-dimensional shear wave elastography(2D-SWE) has the advantage of measuring tissue elasticity with the guidance of B-mode images. Recently, many studies have been conducted on the application of 2D-SWE in patients with various liver diseases, and their validity has been confirmed. Here, we briefly discuss the role of 2D-SWE in patients with chronic liver diseases, particularly aspects of the examination techniques and clinical applications.

Background:Although aseptic meningitis associated with echovirus type 30 has emerged as a global public health concern,no data have been reported on children's immune status against echovirus type *** current study aimed to investigate the seropositivity among Korean children for antibodies against echovirus ***:Two hundred and fifty residual serum samples were collected at ***'s *** were categorized by age into four groups:group 1 (3 months-2 years),group 2 (3-6 years),group 3 (7-10 years) and group 4 (11-15 years).Neutralizing antibodies against echovirus 30 were ***:Seroprotective neutralizing antibodies against echovirus 30 were detected in 129 (49%) *** rates were 23%,48%,55% and 73% in groups 1-4,*** antibody titers,1:256-1:512 was the highest neutralizing antibody titer range in group 2,while 1:1024-1:2048 in group 3 and *** the seropositive individuals in group 3 and 4,6% and 12% had neutralizing antibody titers of 1:2048,***:The seropositivity rate increased significantly with age..The distribution of neutralizing antibody titers varied by age group,and higher ranges of neutralizing antibody titers were observed in higher age *** findings suggest high susceptibility to echovirus 30 infection in children younger than 2 years *** 30 infection in childhood may have contributed to increased neutralizing antibody titers with age.

An important requirement in a military domain is a highly reliable mobility management method,especially when components of the networks aremoving in tactical network *** increase reliability,themobility management technology of the tactical network should be able to reflect the characteristics of the tactical network,such as a limited environment,failure,and hierarchical unit *** this paper,we propose a proxy-based hierarchical distributedmobilitymanagement scheme,which is highly focused on tactical *** the characteristics of tactical networks,the proposed scheme is composed of the following:1)a proxy-based method,2)a distributed mobility management method that synchronizes a mobility database between entities,and 3)a method of managing mobility by dividing the tactical network into upper and lower *** analysis and modeling and simulation results demonstrate that the method outperforms the existing state-of-the-art method in overcoming entity failure,handover cost,and delay in tactical environments.
