Objective To investigate the effects and mechanisms of olfactory three-needle(OTN)electroacupuncture(EA)stimulation of the olfactory system on cognitive dysfunction,synaptic plasticity,and the gut microbiota in senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8(SAMP8)*** Thirty-six SAMP8 mice were randomly divided into the SAMP8(P8),SAMP8+OTN(P8-OT),and SAMP8+nerve transection+OTN(P8-N-OT)groups according to a random number table(n=12 per group),and 12 accelerated senescence-resistant(SAMR1)mice were used as the control(R1)*** was performed at the Yintang(GV 29)and bilateral Yingxiang(LI 20)acupoints of SAMP8 mice for 4 *** Morris water maze test,transmission electron microscopy,terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL)staining,Nissl staining,Golgi staining,Western blot,and 16S rRNA sequencing were performed,*** Compared with the P8 group,OTN improved the cognitive behavior of SAMP8 mice,inhibited neuronal apoptosis,increased neuronal activity,and attenuated hippocampal synaptic dysfunction(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Moreover,the expression levels of synaptic plasticity-related proteins N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 1(NMDAR1),NMDAR2B,synaptophysin(SYN),and postsynaptic density protein-95(PSD95)in hippocampus were increased by OTN treatment(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Furthermore,OTN greatly enhanced the brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)/cAMP-response element binding(CREB)signaling and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B/mammalian target of rapamycin(PI3K/AKT/mTOR)signaling compared with the P8 group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).However,the neuroprotective effect of OTN was attenuated by olfactory nerve *** with the P8 group,OTN had a very limited effect on the fecal microbial structure and composition of SAMP8 mice,while specifically increased the genera Oscillospira and Sutterella(P<0.05).Interestingly,the P8-N-OT group showed an abnormal fecal microbiota with higher microbialα-diversity,Firmicutes/Bacter

The scaling relation of central massive black holes(M_(BH)s)and their host galaxies is well-studied for supermassive BHs(SM_(BH)s,M_(BH)≥10^(6)M_(⊙)).However,this relation has large uncertainties in the mass range of the intermediate-mass BHs(IM_(BH)s,M_(BH)~10^(3)-10^(6)M_(⊙)).Since Green pea(GP)galaxies are luminous compact dwarf galaxies,which may be likely to host less massive SM_(BH)s or even IM_(BH)s,we systematically search for M_(BH)s in a large sample of 2190 GP galaxies at z<0.4,selected from LAMOST and SDSS spectroscopic ***,we report a newly discovered sample of 59 M_(BH) candidates with broad Hα*** sample has a median stellar mass of 108.83±0.11M_(⊙)and hosts M_(BH)s with single-epoch virial masses ranging from M_(BH)~10^(4.7)to 10^(8.5)M_(⊙)(median 105.85±0.64M_(⊙)).Among the 59 M_(BH) candidates,36 have black hole masses M_(BH)≤10^(6)M_(⊙)(IM_(BH) candidates),one of which even has M_(BH)■10^(5)M_(⊙).We find that the M_(BH)-M_(*)relation of our M_(BH) sample is consistent with the M_(BH)-M_(bulge)relation for SM_(BH)s,while is above the M_(BH)-M_(*)relation for M_(BH)s in dwarf galaxies in the same mass ***,we show that 25 M_(BH) candidates,including 4 IM_(BH) candidates,have additional evidence of black hole activities,assessed through various methods such as the broad-line width,BPT diagram,mid-infrared color,X-ray luminosity,and radio *** studies show that it is very promising to find IM_(BH)s in GP galaxies,and the BH sample so obtained enables us to probe the connection between the M_(BH)s and compact dwarf galaxies in the low-redshift Universe.

Dear Editor,Patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(HSCT)often experience a significant reduction in immune function due to factors such as severe lymphopenia,immunosuppressive treatment,and the development of graft-versus-host disease,rendering them more susceptible to severe infections(Sahin et al.,2016).Traditional diagnostic approaches are limited in sensitivity,speed,and assay targets,thus failing short of meeting the diagnostic demands(Qu et al.,2022).However,next-generation sequencing(NGS)has greatly improved the accuracy and efficiency of diagnosing various diseases(Schuler et al.,2022),and has been widely utilized for pathogen detection in samples from HSCT patients(Armstrong et al.,2019;Peng et al.,2021).In this study,we employed viral metagenomics analysis using high-throughput sequencing on fecal and tissue samples from a patient with HSCT experiencing severe lingual papillomatosis.

*** The Fankou giant zinc(Zn)-lead(Pb)deposit in Guangdong Province is well-known for its huge reserves of over 10 Mt(million ton)Zn+Pb metals and high ore-grade with Zn+Pb exceeding 15%(Guangdong Fankou Deposit Investigation Group,1980;Zhu XY et al.,2017).After 60 years of exploration and exploitation,the deposit has accumulated millions of tons of *** interesting question is that what components are hosted in these tailings,and whether some key and critical metals such as gallium and germanium are extremely enriched and worth further comprehensive *** motivated us to conduct an integrated set of field investigation,sampling,major-trace element analyses and reserve assessments about the Fankou *** this contribution,we discover that the tailings contain a variety of metal elements such as zinc,lead and gallium with comprehensive utilization *** data can act as a scientific guidance for further exploration and utilization of the Fankou tailings,and aid to enhance the utilization efficiency of the key mineral resource in *** study also provide demonstration for future green mine construction in China.

Melatonin Alleviates Abscisic Acid Deficiency Inhibition on Photosynthesis and Antioxidant Systems in Rice under Salt Stress

Melatonin and abscisic acid,as major plant hormones,play important roles in the physiological and biochemical activities of crops,but the interaction between the two under salt stress is not yet *** study investigated the endogenous levels of melatonin and abscisic acid in rice by using exogenous melatonin,abscisic acid,and their synthetic inhibitors,and examined their interactions under salt *** research results indicate that melatonin and abscisic acid can improve rice salt *** alleviated the salt sensitivity caused by abscisic acid deﬁciency,increased antioxidant enzyme activity and antioxidant content in rice treated with abscisic acid synth-esis inhibitors,and reduced total reactive oxygen species content and thiobarbituric acid reactive substance *** also increased the activity of key photosynthetic enzymes and the content of photosynthetic pigments,maintaining the parameters of photosynthetic gas exchange and chlorophyllﬂ*** summary,melatonin alleviated the effects of abscisic acid deﬁciency on photosynthesis and antioxidant systems in rice and improved salt *** study is beneﬁcial for expanding the understanding of melatonin regulation of crop salt tolerance.

Two allyldimethylalkyl quaternary ammonium salt(AQAS)monomers,N,N-dimethylallylphenylpropylammonium bromide(AQAS1)and N,N-dimethylallylnonylammonium bromide(AQAS2),were synthesized and used to prepare modified polyacrylamide *** new drag reducers were synthesized from acrylamide(AM),sodium acrylate(Na AA)and a cationic modified monomer(AQAS1 or AQAS2)via aqueous solution polymerization,and the copolymers were named P(AM/Na AA/AQAS1)and P(AM/Na AA/AQAS2),*** structures of the drag reduction agents were confirmed by IR and1H NMR *** molecular weight(Mw)of P(AM/Na AA/AQAS1)was 1.79×10^(6)g/*** the copolymer concentration was 1000 mg/L and the flow rate was 45 L/min,in fresh water the highest drag reduction rate was 75.8%,in 10,000 mg/L Na Cl solution the drag reduction rate decreased to 72.9%.The molecular weight of P(AM/Na AA/AQAS2)was 3.17×10^(6)g/*** the copolymer concentration was500 mg/L and the flow rate was 45 L/min,the drag reduction rate reached 75.2%,and in 10,000 mg/L Na Cl solution the drag reduction rate was 73.3%,decreased by approximately 1.9%.The drag reduction rate for partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide(HPAM)was also investigated,and the results showed that the drag reduction rates for 500 and 1000 mg/L HPAM solutions were merely 43.2%and 49.0%in brine,*** with HPAM,both of the above copolymers presented better drag reduction capacities.

Multimorbidity and mortality among older patients with coronary heart disease in Shenzhen,China

BACKGROUND The current understanding of the magnitude and consequences of multimorbidity in Chinese older adults with coronary heart disease(CHD)is *** aimed to assess the association and population-attributable fractions(PAFs)between multimorbidity and mortality among hospitalized older patients who were diagnosed with CHD in Shenzhen,*** We conducted a retrospective cohort study of older Chinese patients(aged≥65 years)who were diagnosed with *** proportional hazards models were used to estimate the associations between multimorbidity and all-cause and cardiovascular disease(CVD)*** also calculated the *** The study comprised 76,455 older hospitalized patients who were diagnosed with CHD between January 1,2016,and August 31,*** them,70,217(91.9%)had multimorbidity,defined as the presence of at least one of the predefined 14 chronic *** with cancer,hemorrhagic stroke and chronic liver disease had the worst overall death risk,with adjusted HRs(95%CIs)of 4.05(3.77,4.38),2.22(1.94,2.53),and 1.85(1.63,2.11),*** CVD mortality,the highest risk was observed for hemorrhagic stroke,ischemic stroke,and chronic kidney disease;the corresponding adjusted HRs(95%CIs)were 3.24(2.77,3.79),1.91(1.79,2.04),and 1.81(1.64,1.99),***-cause mortality was mostly attributable to cancer,heart failure and ischemic stroke,with PAFs of 11.8,10.2,and 9.1,*** for CVD mortality,the leading PAFs were heart failure,ischemic stroke and diabetes;the corresponding PAFs were 18.0,15.7,and 6.1,*** Multimorbidity was common and had a significant impact on mortality among older patients with CHD in Shenzhen,***,heart failure,ischemic stroke and diabetes are the primary contributors to ***,prioritizing improved treatment and management of these comorbidities is essential for the survival prognosis of CHD patients from a holistic public health perspective.

We utilize molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the microstructures of ions and polyelectrolytes in aqueous solutions under external electric *** focusing on the multi-body interactions between ionic components and H_(2)O molecules,as well as their responses to the external electric fields,we clarify several nontrivial molecular features of the ionic and polyelectrolyte solutions,such as the solvations of cations and anions,clustering of the ions,and dispersions/aggregations of polyelectrolyte chains,as well as the corresponding responses of H_(2)O molecules in these *** simulations illustrate the variations in structures of ionic solutions caused by reversing the charge sign of the ions,and elucidate the disparity in structures between anionic and cationic polyelectrolyte solutions in the presence of the external electric *** work clarifies the mechanism for the alternations in complex multi-body interactions in aqueous solutions caused by the application electric field,which can contribute to the fundamental understanding of the physical and chemical natures of ion-containing and charged polymeric systems.
