Meal timing plays a crucial role for cardiometabolic health,given the circadian regulation of cardiometabolic function.However,to the best of our knowledge,no concept of meal timing exists in traditional European medicine(TEM).Therefore,in this narrative review,we aim to define the optimal time slot for energy intake and optimal energy distribution throughout the day in a context of TEM and explore further implications.By reviewing literature published between 2002 and 2022,we found that optimal timing for energy intake may be between 06:00 and 09:00,12:00 and 14:00,and between 15:00 and18:00,with high energy breakfast,medium energy lunch and low energy dinner and possibly further adjustments according to one’s chronotype and genetics.Also,timing and distribution of energy intake may serve as a novel therapeutic strategy to optimize coction,a concept describing digestion and metabolism in TEM.

Compiler IR-Based Program Encoding Method for Software Defect Prediction

With the continuous expansion of software applications,people’s requirements for software quality are increasing.Software defect prediction is an important technology to improve software quality.It often encodes the software into several features and applies the machine learning method to build defect prediction classifiers,which can estimate the software areas is clean or buggy.However,the current encoding methods are mainly based on the traditional manual features or the AST of source code.Traditional manual features are difficult to reflect the deep semantics of programs,and there is a lot of noise information in AST,which affects the expression of semantic features.To overcome the above deficiencies,we combined with the Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)and proposed a novel compiler Intermediate Representation(IR)based program encoding method for software defect prediction(CIR-CNN).Specifically,our program encoding method is based on the compiler IR,which can eliminate a large amount of noise information in the syntax structure of the source code and facilitate the acquisition of more accurate semantic information.Secondly,with the help of data flow analysis,a Data Dependency Graph(DDG)is constructed on the compiler IR,which helps to capture the deeper semantic information of the program.Finally,we use the widely used CNN model to build a software defect prediction model,which can increase the adaptive ability of the method.To evaluate the performance of the CIR-CNN,we use seven projects from PROMISE datasets to set up comparative experiments.The experiments results show that,in WPDP,with our CIR-CNN method,the prediction accuracy was improved by 12%for the AST-encoded CNN-based model and by 20.9%for the traditional features-based LR model,respectively.And in CPDP,the AST-encoded DBNbased model was improved by 9.1%and the traditional features-based TCA+model by 19.2%,respectively.

The Buyi are a socio-linguistic group in Yunnan Province of southwest China that have a long history of using medicinal plants as part of their indigenous medical system.Given the limited written documentation of the Buyi indigenous medical system,the objective of this paper is to document the medicinal plants of the Buyi and associated traditional knowledge and transmission.Field research was conducted in four villages in Lubuge Township of Luoping County in Yunnan Province using ethnobotanical methodologies including participatory observation,semi-structured interviews,key informant interviews,and focus group discussions to elicit information on medicinal plants.In total,120 informants(including 15 key informants who are healers)were interviewed.This study found that a total of 121 medicinal plant species belonging to 64 families are used by the Buyi including by local healers to treat different diseases.Among the medicinal plants recorded in this study,56 species(46%)have not previously been documented in the scientific literature as having medicinal value,highlighting the pressing need for ethnobotanical documentation in indigenous communities.The most frequently used medicinal part was the leaf(24.9%of documented plants),and the most common preparation method was decoction(62.8%of medicinal).Medicinal plants were mainly used to treat rheumatism(12.4%of plants),trauma and injuries(9.6%).The documented plants are also used for other non-medicinal purposes including food,fodder,fencing,and ornamental.In addition,35 of the medicinal plants are considered poisonous and are used by local Buyi healers for medicine.The traditional Buyi beliefs and practices associated with the documented medicinal plants likely contributes to their conservation in the environments and around Buyi communities.This study further highlights that ethnomedicinal knowledge of the Buyi is at risk of disappearing due to increased introduction and use of modern medicine in Buyi communities,livelihood changes,rapid modernization,and urbanizat

Animals use diverse sensory stimuli to navigate their environment and to recognize rewarding food sources.Honey bees use visual atributes of the targeted food source,such as its color,shape,size,direction and distance from the hive,and the landmarks around it to navigate during foraging.They transmit the location information of the food source to other bees if it is highly rewarding.To investigate the relative importance of these attributes,we trained bees to feeders in two different experiments.In the first experiment,we asked whether bees prefer to land on(a)a similar feeder at a different distance on the same heading or on(b)a visually distinct feeder located at the exact same location.We found that,within a short foraging range,bees relied heavily on the color and the shape of the food source and to a lesser extent on its distance from the hive.In the second experiment,we asked if moving the main landmark or the feeder(visual target)influenced recruitment dancing for the feeder.We found that foragers took longer to land and danced fewer circuits when the location of the food source,or a major landmark associated with it,changed.These results demonstrate that prominent visual atributes of food sources and landmarks are evidently more reliable than distance information and that foraging bees heavily utilize these visual cues at the later stages of their journey.

Syncope is defined as a transient loss of consciousness due to global cerebral hypoperfusion, accompanied by loss of muscle tone and failure to maintain an active position. Vasovagal syncope (VVS) is the most common presentation of syncope, and its diagnostic criteria include:(1) absence of any other evident etiology for syncope or presyncope,(2) positive response to head-up tilt test with evident vasovagal reaction (hypotension and/or bradycardia), and (3) no concomitant chronic or acute disease [1, 2]. The onset of VVS peaks initially in childhood and adolescence, and accounts for 60%–70% of all syncopal cases. Clinicians pay great attention to syncope among children and adolescents, due to its high prevalence and its impact on patients’ quality of life. Affected individuals often experience mental stress, economic burdens, and accidental bodily injuries related to syncope [2]. While the pathogenesis of VVS is not fully understood, autonomic nervous dysfunction has been identified as a contributing mechanism. The examination of autonomic nervous function can provide important information about patients with syncope.

Beta-blockers and physical frailty in patients with endstage liver disease

AIM To investigate beta-blocker(BB) use in patients with cirrhosis and determine their effects on physical frailty and overall survival.METHODS Adult outpatients with cirrhosis listed for liver transplantation underwent testing of physical frailty using the performance-based Liver Frailty Index, comprised of chair stands, grip strength, and balance testing, as well as self-reported assessments of exhaustion and physical activity. BB use was assessed from medical chart review. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression were performed to determine BB use and their association with measures of physical frailty. Competing risk analyses were performed to determine the effect of BB use on wait-list mortality, as defined by death or delisting for being too sick for transplant.RESULTS Of 344 patients, 35% were female, median age was 60, median model for end stage liver disease was 15, and 53% were prescribed a BB. Compared to those not on BB, patients on BB were similar except for percentage female(25% vs 46%; P < 0.001) and BMI(29 vs 28; P = 0.008). With respect to tests of physical frailty, BB use was not associated with increased odds of frailty(by the Liver Frailty Index), exhaustion, or low physical activity. BB use was, however, significantly associated with a decreased adjusted risk of mortality(SHR 0.55; P = 0.005).CONCLUSION In patients with cirrhosis awaiting liver transplantation, BB use is not associated with physical frailty. We confirmed the known survival benefits with BB use, and concerns about adverse effects should not deter their utilization when indicated.

A Cross Language Code Security Audit Framework Based on Normalized Representation

With the rapid development of information technology,audit objects and audit itself are more and more inseparable from software.As an important means of software security audit,code security audit will become an important aspect of future audit that cannot be ignored.However,the existing code security audit ismainly based on source code,which is difficult to meet the audit needs of more and more programming languages and binary commercial software.Based on the idea of normalized transformation,this paper constructs a cross language code security audit framework(CLCSA).CLCSA first uses compile/decompile technology to convert different highlevel programming languages and binary codes into normalized representation,and then usesmachine learning technology to build a cross language code security audit model based on normalized representation to evaluate code security and find out possible code security vulnerabilities.Finally,for the discovered vulnerabilities,the heuristic search strategy will be used to find the best repair scheme from the existing normalized representation sample library for automatic repair,which can improve the effectiveness of code security audit.CLCSA realizes the normalized code security audit of different types and levels of code,which provides a strong support for improving the breadth and depth of code security audit.
