Wood mouse(Apodemus sylvaticus)populations are expected to show a peak in autumn in the year after a mast year of sessile oak(Quercus petraea),because stored acorns increase winter *** Aust-Agder,South Norway,only 16 of 34 mast years from 1939-2014 were followed by a year with a peak in the wood mouse *** many of the remaining instances,there rather was a minor peak 2 or 3 years after the *** multiple logistic regression models,the probability of a wood mouse population peak after a mast year of sessile oak was positively related to a snow-corrected temperature index of the previous winter and negatively to a small rodent population index of the previous *** present study thus supports the hypothesis that longer periods with snow-free ground and subzero temperatures negatively affect wood mouse winter ***cause it may be difficult for wood mice to survive on a diet consisting of acorns alone,the negative relationship with the rodent population index of the previous year is most likely caused by an over-exploitation of necessary alternative food resources,such as other plant seeds and *** acorns not utilized during one winter are assumed to benefit wood mice in a succeeding winter,giving a delayed population peak relative to the mast year.

This paper introduces methodologies and optimal strategies to reduce the energy consumption of the building sector with the aim to reduce global energy usage of a given region or *** efforts are underway to develop investment strategies for large-scale energy retrofits and stricter energy design standards for existing and future *** paper presents a study that informs these strategies in a novel *** introduces support for the cost-optimized retrofits of existing,and design improvements of new buildings in Turkey with the aim to offer recommendations to individual building owners as well as guidance to the *** building types,apartment,single-family house and office are analyzed with a novel optimiza-tion *** energy performance of each type is simulated in five different climate regions of Turkey and four different *** each vintage,the building is modelled corresponding to local Turkish regulations that applied at the time of *** results are produced for different goals in terms of energy saving *** optimization results reveal that a 50%energy saving target is attainable for the retrofit and a 40%energy saving target is attainable for new design improvements for each building type in all climate regions.

Tors are mound-like rock landforms,resistant to erosion,that may sometimes reach the size of several storeys of house by *** may develop in different climate regions and different rock types,led by granitic *** this study,tors developed in granitic rocks around Yaylal?village linked to Kürtün county in Gümü?hane were *** study area is located in the eastern part of the Giresun mountain range in northeastern Turkey,2000-2300 m above sea *** aim of the study is to determine the natural environmental characteristics in tor formation and to reveal the effect of bedrock on tor *** field studies,18 tors were selected by noting location,size and structural features,and dimensions were *** sections were first made from the rock samples taken from the tors and then the mineralogical composition was investigated by modal analysis *** a result of this analysis,it was determined that the bedrock forming the tors is *** the field observations,it was determined that the intersecting vertical joints supported the formation of castle-like tors,while the horizontal joints supported the formation of pita pileshaped *** are also pseudokarstic shapes resembling kamenitza and karst *** conclusion,joint sets causing local resistance differences directed the formation of tors,while excess slope affected surface erosion and suitability of climate conditions-controlled weathering rate.

Polycrystalline samples of pseudo-ternary intermetallic Nd3–xGdxCo11B4 （x=0,1,2,3） borides prepared by standard arc-melting were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction （XRPD）,magnetization and differential scanning calorimetry （DSC） measurements. The X-ray diffraction patterns indicated the hexagonal Ce3Co11B4-type structure with P6/mmm space group for each composition. The substitution of Gd for Nd led to a decrease of the unit-cell parameters a and the unit-cell volume V,while the unit-cell parameter c increased linearly. Magnetic measurements indicated that all samples were ordered magnetically below the Curie temperature. The Curie temperatures increased as Nd was substituted by Gd. The saturation magnetization at 4 K decreased upon the Gd substitution up to x=1,and then increased.

BACKGROUND Triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index,a reliable marker of insulin resistance,was associated with cardiovascular morbidity and *** study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of TyG index for mortality in elderly non-diabetic pa-tients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI).METHODS In total,430 non-diabetic patients aged over 65 years with STEMI were consecutively *** TyG index was calculated by using the following formula:TyG index=ln(fasting triglyceride×fasting glucose/2).The 5-item modified frailty index score was utilized to determine *** were divided into three groups based on TyG index *** Patients included into high TyG index tertile were male and had higher body mass index,glucose,triglyceride,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,5-item modified frailty index and GRACE risk score;and had low systolic blood pressure,estim-ated glomerular filtration rate and left ventricular ejection fraction.A one-unit increase in TyG index was associated with 3.03 ex-tra cases per 1000 person-day for in-hospital mortality and 0.29 extra cases per 1000 person-day for long-term *** was a non-linear relationship between TyG index and the risk of mortality with an increased risk above 8.5 for TyG ***-Meier survival curves revealed that patients in high TyG index tertile had higher in-hospital and long-term mortality rates than those in low TyG index *** This was the first study to demonstrate that the TyG index could predict in-hospital and long-term mortality in elderly non-diabetic STEMI patients.

In this study,the global effects of the severe geomagnetic storm on the Earth’s ionosphere on September5 e9,2017 with Coronal Mass Ejections(CMEs)associated with X-9.3 flares on September 6,2017 were investigated by the Rate of Total Electron Content(TEC)Index(ROTI).ROTI was used as a criterion of ionospheric irregularities that took place during the *** study was conducted with TEC values obtained from fifty stations connected to the International GNSS System(IGS)-GPS network for five different latitude *** a result,it was observed that the irregularities in the high latitude regions of the southern hemisphere were greater in number in comparison with those at the high latitude regions of the northern hemisphere during the *** was observed that these irregularities generally occurred during the main and recovery phases of the storm at all *** weak and moderate ionospheric irregularities that developed at high latitudes during the storm were more in the southern ***,moderate ionospheric irregularities in high latitudes of both hemispheres took place in eastern longitudes(18 oE-160 oE).However,ionospheric irregularities in the mid-latitude regions were observed in more stations at the northern hemisphere than at the southern ***,ionospheric irregularities during the storm developed at eastern longitudes in all sectors.

In this research,changes of testosterone hormone in the blood serum of 9 male（3 of age 2 and 6 of age 4） White goats have been studied for a duration of one *** performed show that the general monthly averages of the testosterone hormone of the male White goats in the period of 12 months starting in January were（2.11±.73）,（2.22±.52）,（2.44±.59）,（2.10±.41）,（2.35±.00）,（3.42±.48）,（4.77±.32）,（5.61±.40）,（7.91±.24）,（10.84±.59）,（7.82±.60）,and（2.63±.61） ng mL-1,respectively（P0.05）.The effect of the age factor on the testosterone production in White goats（age 2 and 4） was generally significant（P 0.05） for differences among months in each age group,but not significant for differences between age groups in each *** testosterone hormone levels of male White goats encountered significant changes（P0.05） with respect to the season.

Exergy is the amount of work obtainable when some matter is brought to a state of thermodynamic equilibrium with the common components of the natural surroundings by means of reversible processes, involving interaction only with the above mentioned components of nature. This paper presents standard chemical exergy values for 85 elements. Reference species in the atmosphere (air), dissolved in the hydrosphere (oceans), and contained in the lithosphere (minerals) are used for these calculations. Standard chemical exergy values of elements were calculated from tabulated values obtained for standard conditions (an ambient temperature of 298.15 K and an atmospheric pressure of 0.1 MPa). Very low concentrations of elements in the atmosphere and oceans and the abundance of elements in the Earth′ s crust are no longer used in determining reference states for chemical elements. Liquid and gas mixtures generally are not useful as reference states. As a result of the work in this paper, a table of the chemical exergy values of many elements in the periodic table under standard conditions was tabulated.

The Diş Kayalıkları is one of the largest and most striking examples of crests in the world and is located between Eskidere and Boğazören villages of the İmranlı district of the Sivas province in Turkey. The crests, which resemble castle walls when viewed from afar, have a real wall pattern due to the right-angled crack system of the bedrock when viewed closely. This study aims at investigating the geomorphological features of the Diş Kayalıkları and determining how the geological and geomorphological evolution of the Diş Kayalıkları took place and how the current formation mechanism continues. In the region, the mid-latitude continental climate prevails with cold humid winters and warm dry summers. The bedrock consists of Miocene bedded deposits of different resistance, folded by young tectonic movements. Diş Kayalıkları was formed by selective erosion of less resistant terrain around a pack of resistant rock on the steeper southern slope of an asymmetrical anticline. It has a length of 4750 m in the approximately northwest-southeast direction, a maximum height of 30 m, and a width varying between 5 and 8 m. In the present morphological appearance of the Diş Kayalıkları, it can be stated that the structure formed after the tectonic formation process was eroded under the control of the local climate and crest formation was realized. In the following process, the crest experienced a polycyclic process where different landforms were formed. There are smaller landforms such as karren, cave and rock window on Diş Kayalıkları, and macrofossil beds in some places. This highly attractive geomorphosite, unknown to wider public, should be investigated from various scientific aspects and should be brought to regional tourism by making the necessary infrastructure and promotion studies.
