A scheme for improving computational efficiency of quasi-two-dimensional model

The quasi-2D model, taking into account the axial velocity profile in the cross section and neglecting the convective term in the 2-D equation, can more accurately simulate the water hammer than the 1-D model using the cross-sectional mean velocity. However, as compared with the 1-D model, the quasi-2D model bears a higher computational burden. In order to improve the computational efficiency, the 1-D method is proposed to be used to solve directly the pressure head and the discharge in the quasi-2D model in this paper, based on the fact that the pressure head obtained as the solution of the two-dimensional characteristic equation is identical to that solved by the 1-D characteristic equations. The proposed scheme solves directly the 1-D characteristic equations for the pressure head and the discharge using the MOC and solves the 2-D characteristic equation for the axial velocities in order to calculate the wall shear stress. If the radial velocity is needed, it can be evaluated easily by an explicit equation derived from the explicit 2-D characteristic equation. In the numerical test, the accuracy and the efficiency of the proposed scheme are compared with two existing quasi-two-dimensional models using the MOC. It is shown that the proposed scheme has the same accuracy as the two quasi-2D models, but requires less computational time. Therefore, it is efficient to use the proposed scheme to simulate the 2-D water hammer flows.

Objective:Corona Virus Disease-2019(COVID-19)has been among the major infectious events of the *** today’s literature where COVID-19 and host factor effects are frequently examined,we aimed to examine another factor:Circadian Clock Protein PERIOD 3(PER3).There is a significant correlation between PER3 gene polymorphism and circadian rhythm disturbances and immune system ***:In our study,we recruited 200 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in our hospital between April-June 2020,and 100 volunteers without known comorbidities to create a healthy control *** comparing the initial gene polymorphisms of the patients with healthy controls,three separate clinical subgroups were *** polymorphism distribution and statistical significance were examined in the formed patient ***:No significant difference was found between the patient group and the healthy controls(P>0.05,for all).When patients were divided into two separate clinical subgroups as exitus/alive according to their last condition during their 28-day follow-up,the 4R/5R genotype was significantly more common in patients with a mortal course(P=0.007).The PER34R75R genotype was found at a significantly higher rate in the group of patients with the need for intensive care(P=0.034).Conclusion:The 4R/5R genotype may be associated with the need for intensive care and mortality in COVID-19 *** important results will be a guide for future studies.

Road traffic sign recognition is an important task in intelligent transportation *** neural networks(CNNs)have achieved a breakthrough in computer vision tasks and made great success in traffic sign *** this paper,it presents a road traffic sign recognition algorithm based on a convolutional neural *** natural scenes,traffic signs are disturbed by factors such as illumination,occlusion,missing and deformation,and the accuracy of recognition decreases,this paper proposes a model called Improved VGG(IVGG)inspired by VGG *** IVGG model includes 9 layers,compared with the original VGG model,it is added max-pooling operation and dropout operation after multiple convolutional layers,to catch the main features and save the training *** paper proposes the method which adds dropout and Batch Normalization(BN)operations after each fully-connected layer,to further accelerate the model convergence,and then it can get better classification *** uses the German Traffic Sign Recognition Benchmark(GTSRB)dataset in the *** IVGG model enhances the recognition rate of traffic signs and robustness by using the data augmentation and transfer learning,and the spent time is also reduced greatly.

Asymptotic and numerical study of a surface breaking crack subject to a transient thermal loading

An asymptotic algorithm is applied to the problem of a finite, thermo-elastic solid containing a surface breaking crack, when the exterior surface is subjected to oscillatory thermal loading. This algorithm involves the study of a model problem. An analytical and numerical study of this model problem of a thermo-elastic half space containing a surface breaking crack and subjected to oscillatory thermal loading is presented. The crack surface is traction free. In particular, the amplitude of the stress intensity factor at the crack vertex is found as a function of the crack depth and the frequency of thermal oscillation.

Deep Learning(DL)is such a powerful tool that we have seen tremendous success in areas such as Computer Vision,Speech Recognition,and Natural Language *** Automated Modulation Classification(AMC)is an important part in Cognitive Radio Networks,we try to explore its potential in solving signal modulation recognition *** cannot be overlooked that DL model is a complex model,thus making them prone to *** model requires many training data to combat with over-fitting,but adding high quality labels to training data manually is not always cheap and accessible,especially in real-time system,which may counter unprecedented data in ***-supervised Learning is a way to exploit unlabeled data effectively to reduce over-fitting in *** this paper,we extend Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs)to the semi-supervised learning will show it is a method can be used to create a more dataefficient classifier.

Fournier’s gangrene after insertion of thermo-expandable prostatic stent for benign prostatic hyperplasia:A case report

BACKGROUND Thermo-expandable urethral stent(Memokath 028)implantation is an alternative treatment for older patients with lower urinary tract symptoms and benign prostatic *** prostatic urethral stent implantation,minor complications such as urinary tract infection,irritative symptoms,gross hematuria,and urethral pain have been observed;however,there are no reports of life-threatening ***,we report a critical case of Fournier’s gangrene that occurred 7 years after prostatic *** SUMMARY An 81-years-old man with benign prostatic hyperplasia(volume,126 ccs;as measured by transrectal ultrasound)had undergone insertion of a thermoexpandable urethral stent(Memokath 028)as he was unfit for surgery under general ***,the patient had undergone a suprapubic cystostomy for recurrent acute urinary retention 4 years after the insertion of prostatic stent(Memokath 028).We had planned to remove the Memokath 028;however,the patient was lost to *** patient presented to the emergency department 3 years after the suprapubic cystostomy with necrotic changes from the right scrotum to the right inguinal *** digital rectal examination,tenderness and heat of prostate was ***,the black skin color change with foulsmelling from right scrotum to right inguinal area was *** computed tomography finding,subcutaneous emphysema was identified to same *** was diagnosed with Fournier’s gangrene based on the physical examination and computed tomography *** emergency room,Fournier’s gangrene severity index value is seven ***,he underwent emergent extended surgical debridement and removal of the Memokath ***-spectrum intravenous antibiotics were administered and additional necrotic tissue debridement was ***,the patient died 14 days after surgery due to multiorgan *** If Memokath 028 for benign prostatic hyperplasia is not working in older patients,its rapid

Deep Venous Thrombosis in Breast Cancer Patients Using Tamoxifen, a Hypothesis

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women and systematic therapy is an essential component of disease. Hormonal therapy, cytotoxic chemotherapy and the more recently introduced biological therapies are routinely employed in the vast majority of patients. Several pharmaceuticals that affect the estrogenic pathways have been studied as chemopreventive agents. Tamoxifen is an anti-estrogenic drug used in the treatment of estrogen receptor positive breast cancer patients. One of the important side-effects of tamoxifen is thromboembolic events like deep venous thrombosis. Tamoxifen also causes an increase in mean platelet volume. We hypothesize that thromboembolic effect of tamoxifen is via increase of mean platelet volume.

Gas Quenching Small Components

Gas quenching is an environmentally friendly and effective way of quenching components. However it has not been possible to apply it to small components because of the difficulties of jigging. A method of gas quenching such small components is described in which they are levitated in a confined gas stream. The method is suitable for quenching low alloy steel components that weigh between 1 and lOg.
