Photosensitized heterogeneous CO_(2) reduction(PHCR)has emerged as a promising means to convert CO_(2) into valuable chemicals,however,challenged by the relatively low carbonaceous product selectivity caused by the competing hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Here,we report a PHCR system that couples Ru(bpy)32+photosensitizer with{001}faceted LiCoO_(2) nanosheets photocatalyst to simultaneously yield 21.2 and 722μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1) of CO,and 4.42 and 108μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1) of CH4 under the visible light and the simulated sunlight irradiations,respectively,with completely suppressed *** experimental and theoretical studies reveal that the favored CO_(2) adsorption on the exposed Li sites on{001}faceted LiCoO_(2) surface is responsible for the completely suppressed HER.

This review discusses how halide ion species have been used as charge carriers in both anion rocking-chair and dual-ion battery(DIB)*** anion rocking-chair batteries based on fluoride and chloride have emerged over the past decade and are garnering increased research interest due to their large theoretical energy density values and the natural abundance of halide-containing ***,DIBs that use halide species as their anionic charge carrier are seen as one of the promising next-generation battery technologies due to their low cost and high working *** numerous polyatomic anions have been studied as charge carriers,the use of single halide ions(i.e.,F−and Cl−)and metal-based superhalides(e.g.,[MgCl_(3)]−)as anionic charge carriers in DIBs has been considerably less ***,we provide an overview of some of the key advances and recent progress that has been made with regard to halide ion charge carriers in electrochemical energy *** offer our perspectives on the current state of the field and provide a roadmap in hopes that it helps researchers toward making new advances in these promising and emerging areas.

This paper presents an automatic multi-band source cross-identification method based on deep learning to identify the hosts of extragalactic radio emission *** aim is to satisfy the increased demand for automatic radio source identification and analysis of large-scale survey data from next-generation radio facilities such as the Square Kilometre Array and the Next Generation Very Large *** demonstrate a 97%overall accuracy in distinguishing quasi-stellar objects,galaxies and stars using their optical morphologies plus their corresponding mid-infrared information by training and testing a convolutional neural network on Pan-STARRS imaging and WISE *** with an expert-evaluated sample,we show that our approach has 95%accuracy at identifying the hosts of extended radio *** also find that improving radio core localization,for instance by locating its geodesic center,could further increase the accuracy of locating the hosts of systems with a complex radio structure,such as C-shaped radio *** framework developed in this work can be used for analyzing data from future large-scale radio surveys.

Wash water is generated as a waste stream from ready-mixed-concrete *** of the water as mixture water is limited,in practice,by the negative material performance impacts associated with the water chemistry and properties;the effects are intensified with increasing content of suspended solids and ***,this waste material can be used as a beneficial additive to concrete by profiting from the cementitious properties of the suspended solids,if variability can be reduced.A method of stabilizing this material is through CO_(2) *** added CO_(2) is mineralized through a reaction with the calcium from the cement *** provides a calcium-carbonate coating that prevents further cement hydration,making the material *** has been shown to alleviate concerns with set acceleration and inconsistencies in compressive strength.A method of CO_(2) treatment was tested as part of the NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE at a site in Calgary,*** slurry for the treatment was provided by a local concrete plant and had a specific gravity of *** simulated wash water was treated in 1000-L quantities with each treatment mineralizing an average of 40 kg of CO_(2).The system ran for 1600 hours of operation over 127 treatment cycles and converted 14.5 tonnes of CO_(2) at an average mineralization efficiency of 80%.The treated slurry was used as an additive in>300 batches of concrete where the concrete met the necessary requirements for fresh properties and setting time,while achieving a strength *** of 5%and 10%of batch water with treated slurry(9.4 and 18.8 kg slurry/m^(3) concrete)showed a strength benefit of 3%and 6%compared to a *** technology was selected as the winner of the NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE(Track B:Natural Gas)in April 2021.

In this paper, we report an effective, simple, and cost-effective strategy of electrochemical deposition to prepare hausmannite Mn_3O_4 thin films for the applications of supercapacitors. Various precursor concentrations and deposition durations were manipulated to tailor the surface morphologies of Mn_3O_4 nanostructures and to optimize their electrochemical performances. The Mn_3O_4 samples prepared at 0.05 M Mn(NO3)2solution for 30 min delivered a large gravimetric specific capacitance of 210 F g-1at a current density of 0.5 A g-1, and a good rate capability over other samples. This superior electrochemical performance may be attributed to the improved electrode conductivity with increased accessible area for electrolytes ions. Furthermore, a nanocomposite film based on Mn_3O_4/carbon foam was fabricated by utilizing the developed optimized conditions. The Mn_3O_4/carbon foam films exhibit an excellent specific capacitance with negligible degradation in retaining specific capacitance values up to 4000 cycles. These findings could further broaden the applications of hausmannite Mn_3O_4 in electrochemical energy storage electrodes.

Materials exhibiting auxetic properties have a negative Poisson’s ratio, which intrigued researchers to understand the behavior of auxetic structure. Several researchers focused on the different auxetic cell designs, while others focused on the auxetic applications. With the advance of additive manufacturing methods, computer-aided design and finite element analysis in recent decades, auxetics have been explored. One of the interesting applications is in the field of biomedical devices or implants, especially for certain natural biomedical organs such as tissues, certain ligaments that have auxetic properties. This paper is an overview of auxetic design approaches and biomedical applications.

In recent years,a wide variety of centralised and decentralised algorithms have been proposed for residential charging of electric vehicles(EVs).In this paper,we present a mathematical framework which casts the EV charging scenarios addressed by these algorithms as optimisation problems having either temporal or instantaneous optimisation objectives with respect to the different actors in the power *** this framework and a realistic distribution network simulation testbed,we provide a comparative evaluation of a range of different residential EV charging strategies,highlighting in each case positive and negative characteristics.

The consequences of genomic architecture on ecological speciation in postglacial fishes

The quest for the origin of species has entered the genomics era. Despite decades of evidence confirming the role of the environment in ecological speciation, an understanding of the genomics of ecological speciation is still in its infancy. In this review, we explore the role of genomic architecture in ecological speciation in postglacial fishes. Growing evidence for the number, location, effect size, and interactions among the genes underlying population persistence, adaptive trait divergence, and reproductive isolation in these fishes reinforces the importance of considering genomic architecture in studies of ecological speci-ation. Additionally, these populations likely adapt to new freshwater environments by selection on standing genetic variation, as de novo mutations are unlikely under such recent divergence times. We hypothesize that modular genomic architectures in postglacial fish taxa may be associated with the probability of population persistence. Empirical studies have confirmed the genic nature of ecological speciation, implicating surprisingly extensive linkage disequilibrium across the genome. An understanding of these genomic mosaics and how they contribute to reproductive barriers remains unclear, but migration rates and the strength of selection at these loci is predicted to influence the likelihood of population divergence. Altogether, understanding the role of ge-nomic architecture is an important component of speciation research and postglacial fishes continue to provide excellent organisms to test these questions, both from the perspective of variation in architectures among taxa, and with respect to the distinct environments they have colonized. However, more empirical tests of ecological speciation predictions are needed.
