Most organic electrode materials(OEMs)for rechargeable batteries employ n-type redox centers,whose redox potentials are intrinsically limitedsessing high redox potentials experience low specific capacities because they are capable of only a single redox reaction within the stable electrochemical window of typical ***,we report 5,11-diethyl-5,11-dihydroindolo[3,2-b]carbazole(DEICZ)as a novel p-type OEM,exhibiting stable plateaus at high discharge potentials of 3.44 and 4.09 V versus Li^(+)/***,the second redox potential of DEICZ is within the stable electrochemical *** mechanism of the double redox reaction is investigated using both theoretical calculations and experimental measurements,including density functional theory calculations,ex situ electron spin resonance,and X-ray photoelectron ***,hybridization with single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNT)improves the cycle stability and rate performance of DEICZ owing to theπ-πinteractions between the SWCNT and co-planar molecular structure of DEICZ,preventing the dissolution of active materials into the *** DEICZ/SWCNT composite electrode maintains 70.4%of its initial specific capacity at 1-C rate and also exhibits high-rate capability,even performing well at 100-C ***,we demonstrate its potential for flexible batteries after applying 1000 bending stresses to the composite electrode.

A global-scale multidecadal variability driven by Atlantic multidecadal oscillation

Observational analysis shows that there is a predominant global-scale multidecadal variability(GMV) of sea-surface temperature(SST). Its horizontal pattern resembles that of the interdecadal Pacific oscillation(IPO) in the Pacific and the Atlantic multidecadal oscillation(AMO) in the Atlantic Ocean, which could affect global precipitation and temperature over the globe. Here, we demonstrate that the GMV could be driven by the AMO through atmospheric teleconnections and atmosphere–ocean coupling *** reveal a strong negative correlation when AMO leads GMV by approximately 4–8 *** experiments using a climate model driven by observed AMO signals reveal that the tropical Atlantic warm SST anomalies of AMO initiate anomalous cooling in the equatorial central-eastern Pacific through atmospheric teleconnections. Anticyclonic anomalies in the North and South Pacific induce equatorward winds along the coasts of North and South America, contributing to further cooling. The upper-ocean dynamics plays a minor role in GMV formation but contributes to a delayed response of the IPO to the AMO forcing. The possible impact of the GMV on AMO was also tested by prescribing only Pacific SST in the model; however, the model could not reproduce the observed phase relationship between the AMO and the GMV. These results support the hypothesis that the Atlantic Ocean plays a key role in the multidecadal variability of global SST.

Plants maintain their internal temperature under environments with fluctuating temperatures by adjusting their morphology and architecture,an adaptive process termed ***,the rhythmic patterns of plant thermomorphogenesis are governed by day-length ***,it remains elusive how thermomorphogenic rhythms are regulated by ***,we show that warm temperatures enhance the accumulation of the chaperone GIGANTEA(Gl),which thermostabilizes the DELLA protein,REPRESSOR OF ga1-3(RGA),under long days,thereby attenuating PHYTOCHROME INTERACTING FACTOR 4(PIF4)-mediated *** contrast,under short days,when Gl accumulation is reduced,RGA is readily degraded through the gibberellic acid-mediated ubiquitination-proteasome pathway,promoting thermomorphogenic *** data indicate that the GI-RGA-PIF4 signaling module enables plant thermomorphogenic responses to occur in a day-length-dependent *** propose that the Gl-mediated integration of photoperiodic and temperature information shapes thermomorphogenic rhythms,which enable plants to adapt to diel fluctuations in day length and temperature during seasonal transitions.

Background There are limited data comparing long-term clinical outcomes between first-generation (1G) and second-generation (2G) drug-eluting stents (DESs) in patients who underwent successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesion. Methods A total of 840 consecutive patients who underwent PCI with DESs for CTO lesion from January 2004 to November 2015 were enrolled. Finally, a total of 324 eligible CTO patients received 1G-DES (Paclitaxel-eluting stent or Sirolimus-eluting stent, n = 157) or 2G-DES (Zotarolimus-eluting stent or Everolimus-eluting stent, n = 167) were enrolled. The clinical endpoint was the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) defined as all-cause death, recurrent myocardial infarction (re-MI), total repeat revascularization [target lesion revascularization (TLR), target vessel revascularization (TVR), and non-TVR]. We investigated the 5-year major clinical outcomes between 1G-DES and 2G-DES in patient who underwent successful CTO PCI. Results After propensity score matched (PSM) analysis, two well-balanced groups (111 pairs, n = 222, C-statistic = 0.718) were generated. Up to the 5-year follow-up period, the cumulative incidence of all-cause death, re-MI, TLR, TVR and non-TVR were not significantly different between the two groups. Finally, MACE was also similar between the two groups (HR = 1.557, 95% CI: 0.820–2.959, P = 0.176) after PSM. Conclusions In this study, 2G-DES was not associated with reduced long-term MACE compared with 1G-DES following successful CTO revascularization up to five years.

2.47 GPa grade ultra-strong 15Co-12Ni secondary hardening steel with superior ductility and fracture toughness

This study investigated the effect of multi-step heat treatment on the microstructure, mechanical properties and fracture behavior of thick 15 Co-12 Ni secondary hardening steel. As-quenched sample was found to have elongated prior austenite grain(PAG) and coarse lenticular martensitic structure. On the other hand, heat-treated sample was observed to have fine lenticular martensitic structure due to fine PAG size and a lot of nano-sized carbides. Also, after heat treatment, nano-scale reverted austenite film was formed at the martensite interfaces. The heat-treated sample showed 2.47 GPa superior tensile strength and superior elongation of about 12 %. The high strength was mainly due to fine block size and high number density of nano-sized carbides. The average value of plane strain fracture toughness(KIC) was 29.3 MPa m1/2, which indicated a good fracture toughness even with the high tensile strength. The tensile fracture surface was observed to have ductile fracture mode(cup-and-cone) and the formation of about ~1 μm ultra-fine dimples. In addition to this, nano-sized carbides were observed within the *** findings suggested that the nano-sized carbide had a positive effect not only on the strength but also on the ductility of the alloy. The fractured surface after toughness test, also showed ductile fracture mode with a lot of dimples. Based on the above results, correlation among microstructural evolution,deformation and fracture mechanisms along the heat-treatment was also discussed.

Clinical features of HBs Ag seroclearance in hepatitis B virus carriers in South Korea: A retrospective longitudinal study

AIM To investigate the characteristic features of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBs Ag) seroclearance among Korean hepatitis B virus(HBV) *** Carriers with HBs Ag seroclearance were selected by analyzing longitudinal data collected from 2003 to 2015. The period of time from enrollment to the negative conversion of HBs Ag(HBs Ag-NC) was compared by stratifying various factors, including age, sex, hepatitis B e antigen(HBe Ag), HBV DNA, sequential changes in the signal-to-cutoff ratio of HBs Ag(HBs Ag-SCR), as measured by qualitative HBs Ag assay, and chronic liver disease on ultrasonography(US-CLD). Quantification of HBV DNA and HBs Ag(HBs Ag-QNT) in the serum was performed by commercial *** Among the 1919 carriers, 90(4.7%) exhibited HBs AgNC at 6.2 ± 3.6 years after registration, with no differences observed among the different age groups. Among these carriers, the percentages of those with asymptomatic liver cirrhosis(LC) and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) at registration were 31% and 7.8%, respectively. The frequency of HBs Ag-NC significantly differed according to the HBV DNA titer and US-CLD. HBe Ag influenced HBs Ag-NC in the 40-50 and 50-60 year age groups. HBs Ag-SCR se in the HBs Ag-SCR to seroclearance was 4.8%. LC with excessive drinking and vertical infection were found to be risk factors for HCC in the HBs Ag-NC *** HCC surveillance should be continued after HBs Ag seroclearance. An HBs Ag-SCR se in sequential testing are worth noting as predictive markers of HBs Ag loss.

BACKGROUND Endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS)has become a reliable method for predicting the invasion depth of early gastric cancer(EGC).However,diagnostic accuracy of EUS is affected by several *** particular,it is difficult to differentiate between T1a and T1b EGC through *** To confirm whether submucosal saline injection(SSI)could improve the accuracy of EUS in distinguishing T1a and T1b lesions in *** Twenty-four patients with EGC were examined by EUS and subsequently by SSI combined EUS to compare the degree of tumor ***,they underwent endoscopic or surgical resection within 7 *** diagnostic accuracy of EUS and SSI combined EUS was evaluated based on the final pathological findings *** injected into the submucosa acted as an echoic contrast enhancing agent and had the effect of distinguishing the mucosal and submucosal layers *** Of total 24 patients,23 were diagnosed with EGC(T1 cancer:13 as T1a,and 10 as T1b).Standard EUS identified 6 of 13 T1a cancer patients and 3 of 10 T1b cancer ***,EUS-SSI identified 12 of 13 T1a cancer patients and 6 of 10 T1b cancer *** this study,SSI combined EUS was more accurate than EUS alone in diagnosing T1a and T1b lesions of EGC(75.0%and 37.5%,respectively).CONCLUSION SSI improved the diagnostic accuracy of EUS in distinguishing between the T1a and T1b stages in EGC.

Clinical significance of the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio as an early predictive marker for adverse outcomes in patients with acute pancreatitis

AIM To investigated the prognostic value of the neutrophillymphocyte ratio(NLR) in patients with acute pancreatitis and determined an optimal cut-off value for the prediction of adverse outcomes in these *** We retrospectively analyzed 490 patients with acute pancreatitis diagnosed between March 2007 and December 2012. NLRs were calculated at admission and 24, 48, and 72 h after admission. Patients were grouped according to acute pancreatitis severity and organ failure occurrence, and a comparative analysis was performed to compare the NLR between groups. RESULTS Among the 490 patients, 70 had severe acute pancreatitis with 31 experiencing organ failure. The severe acute pancreatitis group had a significantly higher NLR than the mild acute pancreatitis group on all 4 d(median, 6.14, 6.71, 5.70, and 4.00 vs 4.74, 4.47, 3.20, and 3.30, respectively, P seline NLR was 4.76 in predicting severity and 4.88in predicting organ failure in acute pancreatitis. CONCLUSION Elevated baseline NLR correlates with severe acute pancreatitis and organ failure.
