sexual dimorphism and sex-differential migration of Little Buntings(Emberiza pusilla)at an East Asian stopover site

sex differences in morphology provide key information for understanding a species'morphological adaptations in relation to the evolution of sexual *** migratory birds,morphological traits have adapted to long-distance travel,and sexual dimorphism is typically related to sex-differential migration *** Buntings(Emberiza pusilla)have one of the longest migrations and are the least dichromatic species among the Emberiza *** this study,we measured sexual size dimorphism and sexual dichromatism of Little Buntings in relation to the spring arrival dates at a stopover site in *** length was the most important predictor for identifying sex;the wings of males were longer than those of *** also had a significantly stronger chestnut color of the head feathers than females,but this color difference was more prominent in the spring than in the *** arrived earlier than females by four *** dates correlated with both size and color,but unlike other bunting species previously studied in the same area,there was no clear sex-differential trend in the relationship between arrival date and morphological *** differences in the degree of sexual dichromatism suggest that chestnut plumage coloration can be used as a social or sexual signal of males in the breeding *** correlation of size and color to early arrival regardless of sex may indicate that a preference for assortative mating exists or that a sex-differential migration strategy is not clearly defined in the early stages of northward *** findings on the sexual dimorphism of Little Buntings provide insight into the evolution of the sex-differential migration of buntings in the East Asian Flyway.

Electrochemically Deposited CZTSse Thin Films for Monolithic Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells with Efficiencies Over 17%

In spite of the high potential economic feasibility of the tandem solar cells consisting of the halide perovskite and the kesterite Cu2ZnSn(S,se)4(CZTSse),they have rarely been demonstrated due to the difficulty in implementing solution-processed perovskite top cell on the rough surface of the bottom ***,we firstly demonstrate an efficient monolithic two-terminal perovskite/CZTSse tandem solar cell by significantly reducing the surface roughness of the electrochemically deposited CZTSse bottom *** surface roughness(R_(rms))of the CZTSse thin film could be reduced from 424 to 86 nm by using the potentiostatic mode rather than using the conventional galvanostatic mode,which can be further reduced to 22 nm after the subsequent ion-milling *** perovskite top cell with a bandgap of 1.65 eV could be prepared using a solution process on the flattened CZTSse bottom cell,resulting in the efficient perovskite/CZTSse tandem solar *** the current matching between two subcells involving the thickness control of the perovskite layer,the best performing tandem device exhibited a high conversion efficiency of 17.5%without the hysteresis effect.

The intermediate phase formation and surface protection effects between SKD61 die mold alloys and aluminum alloys were investigated during a simulated die-casting *** surface coatings of SKD61 alloy were carried out via Si pack cementation coatings at 900 ℃ for 10 h and the ε-FeSi phase *** the coated SKD61 alloy was dipped in the liquid aluminum alloy(ALDC12),the surface coated SKD61 alloys showed better surface properties compared with uncoated SKD61 alloys,i.e.,the intermediate phases(FeSiAl compound) were not produced for the coated SKD61 *** coating layer of ε-FeSi served as a diffusion barrier for the formation of FeSiAl compounds.

Measurement of combined flap thickness for reconstruction of decubitus ulcer using computed tomography

BACKGROUND Various reconstruction options have been introduced to treat decubitus ulcers.A combined flap that takes advantage of the fasciocutaneous and muscle flaps has been proven to be effective in reconstructing decubitus ulcers in previous ***,no studies have measured combined flap *** is the first study to demonstrate the superiority of the combined flap by measuring its thickness using enhanced abdominopelvic computed tomography(APCT).AIM To evaluate combined flap modality as a useful reconstruction option for decubitus ulcers using measurements obtained through *** Fifteen patients with paraplegia who underwent combined flap surgery for reconstruction of decubitus ulcers between March 2020 and December 2021 were *** defects in the skin and muscle components were reconstructed *** inner gluteus muscle flap was split and manipulated to obliterate dead *** outer fasciocutaneous flap was transposed to cover the muscle flap and opening of the decubitus ***,we performed enhanced APCT at 3 wk and 6 mo postoperatively to measure the flap *** The mean flap thickness was 32.85±8.89 mm at 3 wk postoperatively and 29.27±8.22 mm at 6 mo *** flap thickness was maintained without any major complications such as contour deformities or *** Although there was a significant decrease in flap thickness as measured by APCT,the combined flap provided sufficient padding and maintained its thickness even at 6 mo after reconstruction,suggesting that the combined flap modality may be a useful reconstruction option for patients with paraplegic decubitus ulcers.

Electrical conductivity(EC)of soil-water extracts is commonly used to assess soil ***,its conversion to the EC of saturated soil paste extracts(ECe),the standard measure of soil salinity,is currently required for practical *** many regression models can be used to obtain ECe from the EC of soil-water extracts,the application of a site-specific model to different sites is not straightforward due to confounding soil factors such as soil *** study was conducted to develop a universal regression model to estimate a conversion factor(CF)for predicting EC_(e) from EC of soil-water extracts at a 1:5 ratio(EC_(1:5)),by employing a site-specific soil texture(i.e.,sand content).A regression model,CF=8.9105e^(0.0106sand)/1.2984(r^(2)=0.97,Psed on the results of coastal saline soil surveys(n=173)and laboratory experiments using artificial saline soils with different textures(n=6,sand content=10%-65%)and salinity levels(n=7,salinity=1-24 dS m^(-1)).Model performance was validated using an independent dataset and demonstrated that EC_(e) prediction using the developed model is more suitable for highly saline soils than for low saline *** feasibility of the regression model should be tested at other *** soil factors affecting EC conversion factor also need to be explored to revise and improve the model through further studies.

Analysis and optimization of nitrile butadiene rubber sealing mechanism of ball valve

An approach for analyzing and optimizing sealing mechanism of ball valve made of nitrile butadiene rubber(NBR) with finite element method was presented. The Mooney-Rivlin hyperelastic material model was chosen to characterize NBR sealing, as it has been recommended in the similar applications. That is, NBR sealing was modeled as incompressible hyperelasticity, as well as the assumption of isotropic flow. The results illustrate the structural pressure and contact pressure on the contact surface, which shows that the NBR sealing mechanism is very suitable for sealing after dimension optimization.

Quantitative analysis of uranium in electrorecovery salt of pyroprocessing using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy

The amounts of nuclear materials in the Li Cl-KCl salt in pyroprocessing have to be analyzed to prevent the diversion of the nuclear *** alternative method to the chemical analysis has been pursued,and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS)is one *** the present work,an in situ and quantitative analysis method of electro-recovery(ER)salt was proposed and demonstrated by using LIBS combined with dipstick *** types of simulated salt samples were prepared:ER salt sample and salt obtained from the dipstick sampling,and pulsed neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Nd:YAG)laser with a wavelength of 532 nm was focused on the salt to generate *** plasma emission was measured by using an Echelle spectrometer with a resolution of 0.01 nm in conjunction with an Intensified Charge-Coupled Detector *** U and other rare earth peaks in the spectra were *** best Limit of Detection and Root Mean Square Error of Calibration of U were 38 ppm and 0.0203 wt%,*** work shows that the U in the pyroprocessing ER salt can be monitored with LIBS.

Uranium measurements using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy in lithium chloride-potassium chloride salt of pyroprocessing

Depolarization mitigated in ferroelectric Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2)ultrathin films(<5 nm)on Si substrate by interface engineering

(Hf,Zr)O_(2)offers considerable potential for next-generation semiconductor devices owing to its nonvolatile spontaneous polarization at the ***,scaling this material to sub-5 nm thickness poses several challenges,including the formation of an interfacial layer and high trap *** particular,a low-k SiO_(2)interfacial layer is naturally formed when(Hf,Zr)O_(2)films are directly grown on a Si substrate,leading to high depolarization fields and rapid reduction of the remanent *** address these issues,we conducted a study to significantly improve ferroelectricity and switching endurance of(Hf,Zr)O_(2)films with sub-5 nm thicknesses by inserting a TiO_(2)interfacial *** deposition of a Ti film prior to Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2)film deposition resulted in a high-k TiO_(2)interfacial layer and prevented the direct contact of Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2)with *** findings show that the high-k TiO_(2)interfacial layer can reduce the SiO_(2)/Si interface trap density and the depolarization field,resulting in a switchable polarization of 60.2μC/cm^(2)for a 5 nm thick Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2)***,we propose that inserting a high-k TiO_(2)interfacial layer between the Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2)film and the Si substrate may offer a promising solution to enhancing the ferroelectricity and reliability of(Hf,Zr)O_(2)grown on the Si substrate and can pave the way for next-generation semiconductor devices with improved performance.
