It.m Response t.eory (IRt. models have been ext.nsively used in t.e field of educat.on t. ident.fy link bet.een a response t. a t.st.it.m and underlying lat.nt.capabilit. of t.e t.st.t.ker. We demonst.at. t.e benefit.of using IRt.model t. analyze healt. dat. using dat. from M. chat.program such t.at.st.t.st.cians can use t.e met.od in lieu of t.adit.onal met.ods including Cronbach’s alpha, discriminant.analysis and fact.r analysis. M. chat.is a t.chnology based healt. coaching program and t.e baseline survey from t.e part.cipant. in t.e program includes response in different.but.correlat.d domains of diet. social habit., leisure pract.ces, ment.l healt., subst.nce abuse, self-sufficiency and medicat.on adherence. We analyzed baseline dat. from 416 subject. using IRt.models. Our result. indicat.d t.at.responses pert.ining t. alcohol and subst.nce abuse were t.e most.discriminat.ng it.ms wit. an average discriminat.on est.mat. of approximat.ly 4.99 whereas t.e least.discriminat.ng it.ms were t.e diet.habit., wit. an average est.mat. of -0.476.
