Aims:Portal hypertension(PH)is a complication of cirrhosis that lead. to hepatic *** the portal pressure grad.ent(PPG)provid.s valuable information for d.sease assessment,staging,and.*** this stud.,we aimed.to report the utilization of end.scopic ultrasound.EUS)-guid.d.PPG(EUS-PPG)measurements in a real-world.***:This retrospective analysis includ.d.patients at a tertiary care center who und.rwent EUS-PPG between February 2021 and.May *** most common ind.cation was to establish or exclud. the d.agnosis of cirrhosis,followed.by an assessment of surgical risk in the setting of suspected.*** d.mographic and.clinical d.ta were collected.and.statistical analysis was performed.using the Stud.nt's t ***:Eighteen patients und.rwent *** success was achieved.in 17 of the 18 *** complications were *** mean scores of Child.Pugh,Mod.l for End.Stage Liver d.sease-Sod.um,and.Fibrosis-4 scores were 5.1±0.5,9.0±3.0,and.3.7±4.5,*** the 18 patients,two presented.with esophageal varices and.six with portal hypertensive *** mean PPG was 5.8±4.5 mmHg,and.five patients exhibited.clinically significant PH(CSPH).Of the 18 patients,15 und.rwent concurrent EUS-liver biopsy,which was 100%successful and.provid.d.d.agnostic histology for all *** PPG d.ta led.to changes in the clinical management of 17 ***:EUS-PPG is safe and.technically *** Child.Pugh score d.d.not correlate well with the presence of CSPH;however,PPG measurements resulted.in changes in the management of almost all *** stud.es correlating EUS-PPG with other assessments of liver d.seases are required.

Schwann cells play a major role in helping heal injured.nerves. They help clear d.bris, prod.ce neurotrophins, upregulate neurotrophin receptors, and.form band. of Büngner to guid. the healing nerve. But nerves d. not always prod.ce enough neurotrophins and.neurotrophin receptors to repair themselves. Nerve growth factor（NGF） is an important neurotrophin for promoting nerve healing and.lysophosphatid.lcholine（LPC） has been shown to stimulate NGF receptors（NGFR）. This stud. tested.the ad.inistration of a single intraneural injection of LPC（1 mg/mL for single LPC injection and.10 mg/mL for multiple LPC injections） at d.y 0 and.one（d.y 7）, two（d.ys 5 and.7）, or three（d.ys 5, 7, and.9） injections of NGF（160 ng/mL for single injections and.80 ng/mL for multiple injections） to d.termine baseline effects on crush ed.sciatic nerves in rats. The rats were rand.mly d.vid.d.into four groups： control, crush, crush-NGF, and.crush-LPC-NGF. The healing of the nerves was measured.weekly by monitoring gait; electrophysiological parameters： compound.muscle action potential（CMAP） amplitud.s; and.morphological parameters： total fascicle areas, myelinated.fiber counts, fiber d.nsities, fiber packing, and.mean g-ratio values at weeks 3 and.6. The crush, crush-NGF, and.crush-LPC-NGF groups statistically d.ffered.from the control group for all six weeks for the electrophysiological parameters but only d.ffered.from the control group at week 3 for the morphological parameters. The crush, crush-NGF, and.crush-LPC-NGF groups d.d.not d.ffer from each other over the course of the stud.. Single injections of LPC and.NGF one week apart or multiple treatments of NGF at 5, 7 and.9 d.ys post-injury d.d.not alter the healing rate of the sciatic nerves d.ring weeks 1-6 of the stud.. These find.ngs are important to d.fine the baseline effects of NGF and.LPC injections, as part of a larger effort to d.termine the minimal d.se regimen of NGF to regenerate peripheral nerves.

Background. Sclerod.rma is a complex immune-med.ated.rheumatic d.sease that is characterized.by fibrosis of the skin, internal organs, and.vasculopathy. Extensive fibrosis, especially in the limited.compartment, has been reported.to ind.ce acute compartment synd.ome frequently reported.involving the upper and.lower extremities. Case Presentation: We present a rare case of a 54-year-old.Caucasian female who und.rwent surgery for abd.minal compartment synd.ome in the setting of sclerod.rma. Upon arrival, at the hospital, the patient’s health status showed.signs of improvement with no ind.cators of abd.minal compartment synd.ome until the tenth hospital d.y. A CT scan showed.a new intra-abd.minal fluid.collection with total lower abd.minal anasarca and.a stable retroperitoneal hematoma. Following emergency surgery, significant bowel ed.ma without other intra-abd.minal injuries was noted. Conclusion: Second.ry abd.minal compartment synd.ome may occur in patients with sclerod.rma without evid.nce of intra-abd.minal trauma or emergent abd.minal surgery. Further research is warranted.to investigate the relationship between sclerod.rma and.second.ry abd.minal compartment synd.ome.

Algae have become an area of intensive research in many field. of stud.. Areas of application are becoming increasingly d.verse with the ad.ent of technologies particularly in the mass prod.ction of algae biomass. Algae contain complex bioactive compound. and.these are gaining importance in emerging technologies with nutritional and.environmental applications. In this stud., a preliminary investigation evaluated.15 species of algae from the major categories of marine and.fresh water algae for their potential as inclusions in ruminant d.ets for management of greenhouse gas emissions. It was hypothesized.that algae would.positively affect rumen fermentation and.gas prod.ction while red.cing methane prod.ction. The hypothesis was tested.using an Ankom automated.gas monitoring system and.rumen fluid.from Bos ind.cus steers fed.tropical forage d.ets. The results were variable between algae species with some showing a significant red.ction in total gas and.methane prod.ction, with others increasing gas and.fermentation. The red.and.brown algae stand.out as having potential for greenhouse gas mitigation with the brown alga Cystoseira having the most prominent effect. The effects observed.on fermentation may be manipulated.through d.sage management and.beneficial effects could.be potentially maximized.by preparing combinations of algal supplements. It has been d.monstrated.in this stud. that algae have the potential to assist in rumen fermentation management for improved.gas prod.ction, and.greenhouse gas abatement.
