despite a significant increase in utilization over the past decade,the number of donation after circulatory death(dCd)organs that are procured and transplanted in the United States(US)remains well below its *** is still room for expansion,as utilizing dCd organs to the fullest extent is currently the most viable solution to the persistent mismatch between supply and demand in *** convened a multidisciplinary transplantation summit to examine various aspects of dCd,with faculty members from around the world with clinical and academic interest in dCd donation and transplantation,including abdominal and cardiothoracic surgeons,organ procurement organization directors,hepatologists,and *** conference focused on identifying barriers to dCd organ utilization and strategies to overcome these *** divide the barriers to dCd utilization into three mains categories:(Ⅰ)policy and process variation;(II)logistical and transportation challenges;and(Ⅲ)higher risk perceptions related to dCd *** each barrier,we proposed a variety of solutions,providing an overview of the status of dCd donation in the US and suggestions on how to increase the use of *** is a specific focus on ex situ machine perfusion,normothermic regional perfusion,and other opportunities to expand dCd utilization without negatively impacting recipient outcomes.

This paper addresses section Theobromina within the genus Hebeloma(Agaricales).We recognise seven European species within this section,three of which are described as new:Hebeloma alboerumpens,*** and *** first two of these species appear to be ectomycorrhizal with Cistaceae:Cistus and *** parvicystidiatum is more likely to be in mycorrhizal association with Quercus *** also provide a key to the European species within *** and an updated key of known Hebeloma associates of *** analyses based on multiple loci further illustrate the distinctness of the newly described taxa and provide molecular evidence,supporting the morphological evidence,for the relationship that exists among species of this *** ITS is the only one from the sequenced loci that,alongside with morphology,distinguishes among all of the species of *** section gains most of its molecular support from the MCM7 locus,followed by RPB2.

Herbicide 2,4-d is one of the most widely used in the *** this way,its presence on different bodies of water has been *** this paper the efficiency of horizontal-subsurface flow constructedwetlands for 2,4-d removal in aqueous solutions was *** were constructed using fiberglass,and grown with Phragmites *** influent consisted of synthetic wastewater under different 2,4-d and glucose initial *** indicated that,under the evaluated experimental conditions,2,4-d extent of removal was between 71.0 and 99.0%.In general,it can be noted that an increase in the herbicide concentration reduces the removal efficiency,probably due to a toxic effect on the biological *** the other hand,the influent dissolved organic carbon(dOC)initial concentration had a significant effect on the removal of both,the herbicide and the organic matter content in the system,demonstrating that this parameter has a significant effect on this kind of biological methods for water ***,it can be concluded that constructed wetlands are a viable alternative for the treatment of wastewater contaminated with the herbicide 2,4-d.

Effect of dietary energy level on body weight, testicular development and semen quality of local barred chicken of the western highlands of Cameroon

This study was designed to examine the effects of dietary energy levels on some growth and reproductive parameters of local barred chickens in Cameroon. For this purpose, One hundred and forty four day-old barred male chicks, weighing 28.33 g in average were randomly divided into 12 groups of 12 chicks each. Three feeding programs (FP) comprising each a starter diet from day old to 12 weeks (S0: 2800 Kcal/Kg;S1: 2900 Kcal/Kg;S2: 3000 Kcal/Kg) and grower diet from 13 to 20 weeks (G0: 2900 Kcal/Kg;G1: 3000 Kcal/ Kg;G2: 3100 Kcal/Kg) were used and designated FP1, FP2 and FP3 respectively. Each of the FP was randomly allotted of 4 groups of 12 birds in a completely randomized design. Throughout experiment (1 day old to 20 weeks), body weight was recovered every 2 weeks. At 20 weeks of age, roosters were sacrificed;semen characteristic was analyzed and testes were characterized. Between 2 to 10 weeks old, body weight of cocks fed with FP3 was significantly higher (P d to others FP. Inversely, from 12 to 20 weeks, body weight of cocks receiving FP1 was significantly higher (P ding programs 2 and 3. At 20 weeks, 100% of cocks fed on FP3 produced semen versus 66.66% and 16.66% respectively for those on FP1 and FP2. Semen volume and mass motility of cocks fed on FP3 or FP1 were significantly (P ded that FP1 had more suitable dietary energy levels for growth and reproduction of local barred cocks.

The objectives of this review were to 1)summarize the available evidence on the impact of hearing loss on quality of life(QOL)among ***-duty service members,2)describe the QOL instruments that have been used to quantify the impact of hearing loss on quality of life,3)examine national population-level secondary databases and report on their utility for studying the impact of hearing loss on QOL among active-duty service members,and 4)provide recommendations for future studies that seek to quantify the impact of hearing loss in this *** is a lack of literature that addresses the intersection of hearing impairment,the military population,and quality of life *** audiological research,*** personnel offer a unique research population,as they are exposed to noise levels and blast environments that are highly unusual in civilian work settings and can serve as a model population for studying the impact on QOL associated with these *** review recommends conducting a study on the active-duty service member population using a measurement instrument suitable for determining decreases in QOL specifically due to hearing loss.

dear Editor, Tomato yellow leaf curl virus （TYLCV） is a whitefly-trans- mitted geminivirus infecting tomato crops （Czosnek, 2007）. TYLCV-resistant （R） and susceptible （S） lines with the same genetic background have been bred using Solanum habro- chaites as the resistance source. The gene（s） conferring resist- ance are unknown. Previously, we demonstrated that the hexose transporter gene LeHT1 is up-regulated upon infec- tion in R plants and its silencing in R plants （RH） leads to the collapse of resistance （Eybishtz et al., 2010）. To uncover the role of LeHT1 in resistance, we （1） analyzed the transcriptome reprogramming in leaves of S, R, and RH plants using a home- designed microarray, before and 7 d after TYLCV inoculation （0, 7 dpi）, and （2） measured the concentration of sugars and their derivatives in S, R, and RH leaves at 1 and 7 dpi because LeHT1 is transporting both glucose and fructose （McCurdy et al., 2010）.

Gain-enabled optical delay readout unit using CMOS-compatible avalanche photodetectors

A compact time delay unit is fundamental to integrated photonic circuits with applications in,for example,optical beam-forming networks,photonic equalization,and finite and infinite impulse response optical *** this paper,we report a novel gain-enabled delay readout system using a tunable optical carrier,low-frequency RF signal and CMOS-compatible photodetectors,suitable for silicon photonic *** characterization method relies on direct phase measurement of an input RF signal and thereafter extraction of the delay *** integrated silicon and germanium photodetectors coupled with low-bandwidth electronics are used to characterize a microring resonator-based,true-time delay unit under distinct ring–bus coupling *** detectors,used in both linear and avalanche mode,are shown to be successful as optical-to-electrical converters and RF amplifiers without introducing significant phase *** a Si–Ge separate-absorption-charge-multiplication avalanche detector,an RF amplification of 10 dB is observed relative to a Ge PIN linear *** all-silicon defect-mediated avalanche photodetector is shown to have a 3 dB RF amplification compared to the same PIN *** ring delay measurement results are validated by full-wave ***,the impact of photodetector biasing and system linearity is analyzed.
