Spreadsheet quality assurance:a literature review

Spreadsheets are very common for information processing to support decision making by both professional developers and non-technical end ***,business intelligence and artificial intelligence are increasingly popular in the industry nowadays,where spreadsheets have been used as,or integrated into,intelligent or expert systems in various application ***,it has been repeatedly reported that faults often exist in operational spreadsheets,which could severely compromise the quality of conclusions and decisions based on the *** a view to systematically examining this problem via survey of existing work,we have conducted a comprehensive literature review on the quality issues and related techniques of spreadsheets over a 35.5-year period(from January 1987 to June 2022)for target journals and a 10.5-year period(from January 2012 to June 2022)for target *** other findings,two major ones are:(a)Spreadsheet quality is best addressed throughout the whole spreadsheet life cycle,rather than just focusing on a few specific stages of the life cycle.(b)Relatively more studies focus on spreadsheet testing and debugging(related to fault detection and removal)when compared with spreadsheet specification,modeling,and design(related to development).As prevention is better than cure,more research should be performed on the early stages of the spreadsheet life *** by our comprehensive review,we have identified the major research gaps as well as highlighted key research directions for future work in the area.

This paper presents an efficient and realistic approach to seam the 2D panels together into a 3D garment mesh. Our main goal is to be able to seam any kind of panels together robotically without considering the variation of style and geometry. In particular, we are discussing difficult situations with respect to deformations and variation of sewing forces Based on the mass-spring model, two-dimensional panels are seamed together along the seams and then three-dimensional garment meshes are built. Our main contribution is that we add five pairs of sewing forces avoiding undesirable sharp folds. Our approach provides a useful design tool to create 3D garment mesh directly in the 3D space through 2D patterns. It is reasonably easy to incorporate our 3D mesh construction techniques into existing 3D graphics systems because we use standard triangular mesh structures and force-based mass-spring model for cloth animation.

Theoretical Analysis of the Factors Affecting Splice Loss During Fabric Spreading

Material utilization is mainly concerned by industrialpractitioners since it contributes to minimize the totalproduction costs for garment manufacturing. Apart fromthe marker loss, splice loss (the fabric loss during thejoining of different fabric rolls) is one of the primarycauses of fabric loss, but it has not been considered spe-cifically in the past literatures. The amount of splice lossduring fabric spreading is governed by various factors in-cluding the marker length, the number of fabric rolls,and the number of splicing intervals for laying-up. Inour study, these three effects on splice loss during fabricspreading were computed and analysed.

A joint computational-experimental study of intracranial aneurysms:Importance of the aspect ratio

Rupture of a cerebral aneurysm （abnormal swelling of blood vessel in the brain） will cause subarachnoid hemorrhage, and will result in an alarming rate of mortality and morbidity. A joint computational-experimental study is conducted to assess the importance of the aspect ratio in the dynamics of blood flow. The aspect ratio is defined here to be the ratio of the height of the aneurysm to the linear dimension of the neck. Idealized models of such aneurysms located near a bifurcation point were investigated. Numerical simulations for hemodynamic properties like shear stress and flow rate were performed. The computational results were verified experimentally with specially fabricated phantoms, blood mimicking fluid and Doppler ultrasound imaging. Excellent agreements were obtained. Two features are highlighted, providing information in the intensely debated link between rupture risk and geometric factors. On increasing the aspect ratios, firstly, a jet impinging on the distal part of the neck can be observed, and secondly, a region of positive shear stress gradient can be found there. Furthermore, computational analyses for four patient-specific models were conducted to correlate with the results of idealized models and to provide further clinical insight.

Influence of the aspect ratio on the endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms: A computational investigation

Intracranial aneurysm, a localized dilation of arterial blood vessels in the Circle of Willis and its branches, is potentially life threatening, due to massive bleeding in the subarachnoid space upon rupture. In clinical practice, one minimally invasive surgical procedure is the implantation of a metallic stent to cover the aneurysm neck. This flow diverting device can reduce the flow into the aneurysm and enhance the prospect of thrombosis, a condition expected to reduce the risk of growth and rupture. The biomechanical and haemo-dynamic factors in stented and nonstented situations are studied by computational fluid dynamics. Unlike earlier models with straight or curved parent blood vessels, the aneurysm is now located near an arterial bifurcation. The influence of the aspect (depth to neck) ratio of the aneurysm on the flow dynamics will be emphasized, especially in the post-operation stages. More precisely, the maximum flow velocity, the variations of wall shear stress, the risk of stent migration and volumetric flow rate after endovascular treatment will be studied. Aneurysms with larger aspect ratios (i.e. smaller neck sizes for constant depth) generally pose a greater risk in terms of these flow parameters. These results will assist the applications and design of stents in future neurosurgical therapy. The approach is limited to a nonelastic model, without taking into account of questions like stent expansion and interaction with tissue.

An Innovative Antiseptic, Antiperspirant and Deodourant Diaper for the Older and Frail Older People Suffering from Urinary Incontinence

Background: Urinary Incontinence is a common symptom among the older and frail older people. Apart from affecting the quality of life and skin complications, the demand on assistance could be too high for any sufferer. While conservative means of treatment do not work, special incontinence apparel could be a good compromise. Objective: To create an absorbent, antiseptic, antiperspirant and deodourant diaper for the older and dependent people suffering from urinary incontinence. Material and Methods: Antiperspirant and antiseptic medicinal materials have been reported in Traditional Chinese Medicine and two herbs were screened out to provide the required effects. A combination of Fraxini Cortex, Calamine and Zinc oxide made in powder forms was impregnated into a pocket of the diaper. Laboratory tests were performed to confirm the antiseptic, antiperspirant and deodourant effects of the materials. A self-control clinical trial on the diaper was organized in an elderly home. Results: Antibacterial effects against Staphylococcus, E. coli and Candida were proven. Antiperspirant effects were confirmed using acetylcholinesterase inhibitor testings. Volunteers using the Sudoscan machine further demonstrated the weak antiperspirant effects of the herbs. A pilot study on 31 dependent diaper users gave positive feedbacks of more comfort, less leakage, odour and better skin conditions. The overall satisfaction reached 79%. Conclusion: A special diaper with antiseptic, antiperspirant and deodourant effects could be created with inexpensive herbal powder impregnated and could be recommended to the older and frail older people with urinary incontinence.

Bridge detection method for HSRRSIs based on YOLOv5 with a decoupled head

The different imaging conditions of high spatial resolution remote sensing images(HSRRSIs)tend to cause large differences in the background information of bridges from the images,including problems of difficult detection of multiscale bridges,leakage of small bridges and insufficient detection accuracy for their *** address these problems,a YOLOv5 network with a decoupled head for the automatic detection of bridges in HSRRIs is proposed in this ***,the problem of inconsistent scale of information fusion of each feature in the feature pyramid network is solved using a weighted bi-directional feature pyramid network(BiFPN).Then,the convolutional block attention module(CBAM)is fused into the three effective feature layers after feature pyramid network *** bridge feature information is effectively extracted from the channel and spatial ***,the decoupled head is fused in the YOLO Head to separate the classifier and regressor to speed up the network convergence and improve the network detection accuracy ***,the practical effect is evaluated by calculating the average precision(AP).According to the experimental results,the AP of the proposed method is 98.1%,which is improved by 4.1%∼23.5%compared with other models.

The effects of stent porosity on the endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms located near a bifurcation

Intracranial aneurysm occurs when a cerebral artery develops an abnormal sac-like dilatation, and will cause massive bleeding in the subarachnoid space upon rupture. Endovascular stenting is a minimally invasive procedure in which a flow-diverting stent is deployed to cover the aneurysm neck, thereby restricting blood from entering the aneurysm and reducing the risk of rupture. The stent porosity, a crucial factor determining the intra-aneurysmal hemodynamics following treatment, is investigated by computational fluid dynamics techniques. Based on the computational results, a low porosity stent will dramatically reduce the flow velocity and the flow rate inside the side branch vessel. Conversely, a high porosity stent may not provide adequate flow reduction inside the aneurysm, possibly causing treatment failure. An advisable range of optimal stent porosity would be 60% to 75%, which can drastically reduce the flow rate into the aneurysm while preserving enough blood flow for the side branch vessel. Clinically, deployment of two or more flow-diverting stents may not increase treatment efficacy but can potentially lead to adverse effects due to side-branch hypoperfusion. The present quantitative analysis can also provide practical insight for future stent design.

Quantized H_∞ Fault-tolerant Control for Networked Control Systems

Quantized H_∞ fault-tolerant control for networked control systems (NCSs) with partial actuator fault with respect to actuators is concerned in this paper. Considering transmission delay, packet dropout and quantization, a synthesis model with partial actuator fault is established. The piecewise constant controller is adopted to model NCS with the transmission delay and packet dropout. Due to data transmitted in practical NCSs should be quantized before they are sent to the next network node, the logarithmic static and time-invariant quantizers at the sensor and controller sides are proposed in the paper. For the established model, an appropriate type of Lyapunov functions is provided to investigate the delay-dependent H_∞ control problem. According to an optimal problem, the controller that makes the system achieve the best performance is designed. Finally, an illustrative example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
