AIM:To compare the clinical outcome of single-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy(SILC)and three-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy(3ILC)for acute ***:From July 2009 to September 2012,136patients underwent SILC or 3ILC for acute cholecystitis at a tertiary referral *** experienced surgeon performed every procedure using 5 or 10 mm 30-degree laparoscopes,straight instruments,and conventional *** patients with perforated gallbladder and diffuse peritonitis and 23 patients with mild acute cholecystitis were *** remaining 108 patients were divided into complicated and uncomplicated groups according to pathologic *** demography,clinical data,operative results and complications were recorded and ***:Fifty patients with gangrenous cholecystitis,gallbladder empyema,or hydrops were classified as the complicated group,and 58 patients with acute cholecystitis were classified as the uncomplicated ***-three(46.0%)of the patients in the complicated group(n=50)and 39(67.2%)of the patients in the uncomplicated group(n=58)underwent SILC;all others underwent *** postoperative length of hospital stay(PLOS)was significantly shorter in the SILC subgroups than the 3ILC subgroups(3.5±1.1 d vs 4.6±1.3 d,Pn the complicated group;2.9±1.1 d vs 3.7±1.4 d,Pn the uncomplicated group).The maximum body temperature recorded at day 1 and at day 2 following the procedure was lower in the SILC subgroups,but the difference reached statistical significance only in the uncomplicated group(37.41±0.56℃vs 37.80±0.72℃,Pn postoperative day 1;37.10±0.43℃vs 37.57±0.54℃,Pn postoperative day 2).The operative time,estimated blood loss,postoperative narcotic use,total length of hospital stay,conversion rates,and complication rates were similar in both SILC and 3ILC *** complicated group had longer operative time(122.2±35.0 min vs 106.6±43.6 min,Pnger PLOS(4.1±1.3 d vs 3.2±1.2 d,P<0.

Artificial neural network is a powerful technique of computational intelligence and has been applied in a variety of fields such as engineering and computer science. This paper deals with the neural network modeling and prediction of surface roughness in machining aluminum alloys using data collected from both force and vibration sensors. Two neural network models, including a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) model and a Radial Basis Function (RBF) model, were developed in the present study. Each model includes eight inputs and five outputs. The eight inputs include the cutting speed, the ratio of the feed rate to the tool-edge radius, cutting forces in three directions, and cutting vibrations in three directions. The five outputs are five surface roughness parameters. Described in detail is how training and test data were generated from real-world machining experiments that covered a wide range of cutting conditions. The results show that the MLP model provides significantly higher accuracy of prediction for surface roughness than does the RBF model.

A series of novel flavone-4-oximes[1]were synthesized by the oximation of substituted *** synthesized compounds were characterized by various spectroscopic methods including IR,MASS,nMR *** of the 14 test compounds screened for their antioxidant activity,compounds such as JGS-VI(a n,n dimethyl benzaldehyde derivative)and JGSVII(a 3,4 dimethoxy benzaldehyde derivative)exhibited antioxidant activity comparable to that of ascorbic acid with its IC50 value at 30.01 Mm as standard following DPPH?*** such as JGS-II(a Para fluro benzaldehyde derivative),JGS-IV(a Para methyl benzaldehyde derivative)and JGS-V(a thiophene-2-aldehyde derivative)exhibited anti-oxidant activity among all the test compounds screened against ABTS[2]using Quercetin with its IC50 value at 50.24 Mm.

The flow of viscous incompressible fluid through a tube is considered. The similarity transformation is used to reduce the governing equations into nonlinear ordinary differential equation. The solution procedure includes application of long series analysis with polynomial coefficients. The series representing physical parameters ( ) reveal qualitative features which are comparable to pure numerical results. The analysis enables in extending region of validity. A complete description of the solutions is presented.

The entrance region flow of a Herschel-Bulkley fluid in an annular cylinder has been investigated numerically without making prior assumptions on the form of velocity profile within the boundary layer region. This velocity distribution is determined as part of the procedure by cross sectional integration of the momentum differential equation for a given distance z from the channel entrance. Using the macroscopic mass and momentum balance equation, the entrance length at each cross section of the entrance region of the annuli and pressure distribution have been calculated for specific values of Herschel-Bulkley number and various values of aspect ratio and flow behavior index. The effects of non-newtonian characteristics and channel width on the velocity profile, pressure distribution and the entrance length have been discussed.

AIM: To evaluate the association of known copy number variations(CnVs) in ulcerative colitis(UC) progressing to colorectal ***: Microsatellite instability analysis using the national Cancer Institute's panel of markers, and CnV association studies using Agilent 2 × 105 k arrays were done in tissue samples from four patient groups with UC: those at low risk(LR) or high risk of developing colorectal cancer, those with premalignant dysplastic lesions, and those with colitis-associated colorectal cancer(CAC). DnA from tissue samples of these groups were independently hybridized on arrays and analyzed. The data obtained were further subjected to downstream bioinformatics enrichment analysis to examine the correlation with CAC ***: Microarray analysis highlighted a progressive increase in the total number of CnVs [LR(n = 178) vs CAC(n = 958), 5.3-fold], gains and losses [LR(n = 37 and 141) vs CAC(n = 495 and 463), 13.4- and 3.3-fold, respectively], size [LR(964.2 kb) vs CAC(10540 kb), 10.9-fold] and the number of genes in such regions [LR(n = 119) vs CAC(n = 455), 3.8-fold]. Chromosomewise analysis of CnVs also showed an increase in the number of CnVs across each chromosome. There were 38 genes common to all four groups in the study; 13 of these were common to cancer genes from the Genetic Disease Association dataset. The gene set enrichment analysis and ontology analysis highlighted many cancerassociated genes. All the samples in the different groupswere microsatellite ***: Increasing numbers of CnVs are associated with the progression of UC to CAC, and warrant further detailed exploration.
