Breakup reactions of the double borromean nucleus ^(8)He were measured at 82.3 MeV/u on CH2 and C *** coincident detection of two decaying neutrons and the high performance for neutron cross talk rejection are realized in this *** relative energy spectrum for ^(8)He was reconstructed with good *** spectrum exhibits a structure of two resonant peaks,one at an excitation energy of about 3.0 and the other at about 4.14 MeV,*** larger cross section for the first resonance is observed in comparison to the results reported previously.

The development of vehicle integrated photovoltaics-powered electric vehicles (VIPV-EV) significantly reduces CO2 emissions from the transport sector to realize a decarbonized society. Although long-distance driving of VIPV-EV without electricity charging is expected in sunny regions, driving distance of VIPV-EV is affected by climate conditions such as solar irradiation and temperature rise of PV modules. In this paper, detailed analytical results for effects of climate conditions such as solar irradiation and temperature rise of PV modules upon driving distance of the VIPV-EV were presented by using test data for Toyota Prius and Nissan Van demonstration cars installed with high-efficiency InGaP/GaAs/InGaAs 3-junction solar cell modules with a module efficiency of more than 30%. The temperature rise of some PV modules studied in this study was shown to be expressed by some coefficients related to solar irradiation, wind speed and radiative cooling. The potential of VIPV-EV to be deployed in 10 major cities was also analyzed. Although sunshine cities such as Phoenix show the high reduction ratio of driving range with 17% due to temperature rise of VIPV modules, populous cities such as Tokyo show low reduction ratio of 9%. It was also shown in this paper that the difference between the driving distance of VIPV-EV driving in the morning and the afternoon is due to PV modules’ radiative cooling. In addition, the importance of heat dissipation of PV modules and the development of high-efficiency PV modules with better temperature coefficients was suggested in order to expand driving range of VIPV-EV. The effects of air-conditioner usage and partial shading in addition to the effects of temperature rise of VIPV modules were suggested as the other power losses of VIPV-EV.

Damped oscillation of Newtonian liquid in a vertical U-tube is one of the well known phenomena and the solution of this liquid motion for the laminar flow regime in the circular pipe was solved, however, generally speaking, even if the period of the oscillational motion by this solution is nearly coincided with that of the experimental result, the estimation of the damped oscillational process with lapse of time by the solved equation is not in agreement with that of the experimental result. Therefore basing upon the experimental results of the velocity distributions of the oscillational motion in the circular U-tube for the Newtonian and non-Newtonian liquids, the velocity distribution of the Bingham plastic flow is assumed. The solutions of the damped oscillation and also of the vertical falling and rising velocities of the free surface in the vertical U-tube of the diameters D= 10mm, 20mm and 40mm are compared with water and water-glycerine solution for the Newtonian liquids and the acrylic co-polymer solutions for the non-Newtorlian liquid. The comparisons of these solved equations by the new flow model are shown in good agreement with the experimental results. The above stated results are described in detail.

This paper proposes a method for obtaining superior design solutions by first simplifying the overall design problem and design elements, and then reconstructing a fresh design system based on the simplified model. This process of simplification followed by reconstruction not only makes design optimization easier, but also increases the possibilities for discovering improved designs. After simplifying the problem, conflicting and cooperative relationships are clarified, and then the core relationships among the design characteristics are identified. Optimization methods are carried out on the reconstructed formulation, paying particular attention to the newly identified core relationships. An optimal design solution is selected from a set of obtained design alternatives that consider both the individual parts of the product as well as the design as a whole.

Prediction of human microRNA hairpins using only positive sample learning

＜正＞ A series of experiments is being performed to understand and to prepare database on the transient void behavior in subcooled water during reactivity initiated accidents. The first series of experiments aimed at developing a technique for the void fraction measurement and obtaining fundamental knowledge with a single simulated fuel rod under the atmospheric pressure condition. The simulated fuel rod was made of Inconel tube, vertically placed in a transparent pipe and electrically heated by the direct current. The void fraction was evaluated from the measured impedance of vapor-water mixture between a pair of electrodes based on the Maxwell theory.

MicroRNAs(miRNA) are small molecular non-coding RNAs that have important roles in the post-transcriptional mechanism of animal and plant. They are commonly 21-25 nucleotides (nt) long and derived from 60-90 nt RNA hairpin structures, called miRNA hairpins. A larger num-ber of sequence segments in the human genome have been computationally identified with such 60-90 nt hairpins, however a majority of them are not miRNA hairpins. Most computational meth-ods so far for predicting miRNA hairpins were based on a two-class classifier to distinguish between miRNA hairpins and other sequence segments with hairpin structures. The difficulty of these methods is how to select hairpins as negative examples of miRNA hairpins in the classifier-training datasets, since only a few miRNA hairpins are available. Therefore, their classifier may be mis-trained due to some false negative examples of the training dataset. In this paper, we introduce a one-class support vector machine (SVM) method to predict miRNA hair-pins among the hairpin structures. Different from existing methods for predicting miRNA hairpins, the one-class SVM model is trained only on the information of the miRNA class. We also illus-trate some examples of predicting miRNA hair-pins in human chromosomes 10, 15, and 21, where our method overcomes the above disad-vantages of existing two-class methods.

In vivo histological diagnosis for gastric cancer using endocytoscopy

AIM To examine usefulness of virtual biopsy using endocytoscopy by comparing the in vivo endocytoscopic and histopathological images of gastric *** Endocytoscopy was performed in 30 patients with early gastric cancer. Of these, 26 patients showed well differentiated adenocarcinomas, while 4 patients showed poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas(including one signet ring cell carcinoma). Cancerous and non-cancerous areas were observed after double staining with 0.05% crystal violet and 0.1% methylene blue. The endocytoscopic images obtained were evaluated by an expert endoscopist and an expert pathologist without knowledge of patient clinical data, and endocytoscopic and histopathological diagnoses were *** The endocytoscopic images of the cancerous area were assessed as evaluable in 25(83.3%) and 27(90%) patients by endoscopist A and pathologist B, respectively, and those of the non-cancerous area as evaluable in 28(93.3%) and 23(76.7%) patients by the endoscopist and pathologist, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic accuracy of gastric cancer diagnosis using evaluable endocytoscopic images were 88.0% and 92.9%, and 90.6% by endoscopist A, and 88.9% and 91.3%, and 90.0% by pathologist B, respectively. Evaluation of the diagnostic concordance rate between the endoscopist and the pathologist by inter-observer agreement calculation revealed no significant difference between the two observers. The inter-observer agreement(κ-value) for endocytoscopic diagnosis was 0.745. CONCLUSION Endocytoscopy is useful for the differentiation of cancerous from non-cancerous gastric mucosa, making it a promising tool for virtual biopsy.
