Objective:Parapharyngeal space contains intricate vascular anatomy(external and internal carotid arteries)that might be inadvertently injured during the dissection in this *** of the bony landmarks can be used during the transoral robotic surgery(TORs)radical tonsillectomy as these landmarks lie lateral to the internal carotid artery(ICA)and external carotid artery(ECA)in transoral *** study aims to identify the safe surgical limits during the dissection of parapharyneal space in TORs radical tonsillectomy and to correlate the same with radiological *** and methods:Fifteen cadavers(30 head and neck regions)and 50 CT-Angiogram of neck(100 head and neck regions)were included in the anatomical and radiological study *** vertical midpoint of anterior tonsillar pillar(palatoglossus muscle)was taken as the reference point and all the measurements were done at the level of reference point both for anatomical and radiological *** between tonsillar fossa and ECA,distance between tonsillar fossa and ICA,relation between ECA and styloglossus and relation between ICA and stylopharyngeus at reference level were ***:The mean distance of ECA from the tonsillar fossa at the reference point was 18.2 mm in the anatomical study and 16.2 mm in the radiological *** mean distance of ICA from the tonsillar fossa was 23.4 mm and 23.3 mm in the anatomical study and radiological *** was no significant difference between the anatomical and radiological findings for both the mean distance between ECA and ICA to the tonsillar fossa(p value was 0.45 and 0.30 respectively).ECA was located posterolateral to styloglossus in 24 cases(80.0%)and 79 cases(79.0%)in the anatomical and radiological study *** was found posterolateral to stylopharyngeus in 21 cases(70.0%)and 69 cases(69.0%)in the anatomical and radiological study ***:The muscular plane between styloglossus and stylopharyngeus can be

Purpose: Technetium 99 m (99 m Tc) labeled scan is often done to localize bleeding to facilitate treatment. No level 1 or 2 data supports this approach. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between site of bleeding by nuclear scan and findings at surgery, angiogram or colonoscopy. Methods: Records of patients admitted to Cooper University Hospital from January 2001-December 2005 with LGIB who had 99mTc scan were analyzed. Results: 164 of 170 patients were eligible to be evaluated. There were 45 positive (27.5%) and 119 negative scans (72.5%). 21 of 45 patients with positive scans had angiography. 7 patients (33.3%) had positive and 14 (66.6%) negative angiograms. In 6 patients (85.7%) with (+) angiograms, there was correlation on the area of bleed as seen on the 99 m Tc scan (p = 0.125). 20 patients, in the positive scan group, required surgery. In 15 (75%) the findings at surgery correlated with the scan result (p = 0.04). 31 patients (68.8%) with positive scan had colonoscopy. There was correlation in 27 patients (87.0%) (p s with (+) scan received a total of 372 (8.2 per patient) transfusions of packed red blood cells (PRBC) compared to 333 (2.7 per patients) transfusions in patients with (–) scans. surgeons documented in 7 patients that the result of scan influenced surgery. Patients with (+) and (–) scans had similar rates of colonoscopy (73.35% vs 76.4%), hospital length of stay (14.3 vs 12.10 days), while mortality rate was (8.8% vs 6.72%) respectively, Conclusion: 99 m Tc scan has low yield in the evaluation of LGIB. However when positive, they tend to correlate with findings at angiogram, surgery and colonoscopy.

Four different varieties of charnockitic rocks, with different modes of formation, from the Mesoproterozoic Natal belt are described and new C isotope data presented. Excellent coastal exposures in a number of quarries and river sections make this part of the Natal belt a good location for observing charnockitic field relationships. Whereas there has been much debate on genesis of charnockites and the use of the term charnockite, it is generally recognized that the stabilization of orthopyroxene relative to biotite in granitoid rocks is a function of low aH2O （-- high CO2）, high temperature, and composition （especially Fe/（Fe ＋Mg））. From the Natal belt exposures, it is evident that syn-emplacement, magmatic crystallization of charnockite can arise from mantle-derived differentiated melts that are inherently hot and dry （as in the Oribi Gorge granites and Munster enderbite）, as well as from wet granitic melts that have been affected through interaction with dry country rock to produce localized charnockitic marginal facies in plutons （as in the Portobello Granite）. Two varieties of post-emplacement sub-solidus charnock- ites are also evident. These include charnockitic aureoles developed in leucocratic, biotite, garnet granite adjacent to cross-cutting enderbitic veins that are attributed to metamorphic-metasomatic processes （as in the Nicholson＇s Point granite, a part of the Margate Granite suite）, as well as nebulous, patchy charnocki- tic veins in the Margate Granite that are attributed to anatectic metamorphic processes under low-aH2O fluid conditions during a metamorphic event. These varieties of charnockite show that the required physical conditions of their genesis can be achieved through a number of geological processes, providing some important implications for the classification of charnockites, and for the interpretation of charnock- ite genesis in areas where poor exposure obscures field relationships.

This investigation is focused on the effect of elevated temperature curing on compressive strength of plain concrete and concrete with partial replacement of cement by industrial wastes. In this project Petroleum industry waste （Zeolite Based spent Catalyst）＆ steel industry waste （Fes dust） are used to partial replacement of cement in concrete. A set of concrete specimens were made with 0%, 20% （Fes dust）, 30% （Fes dust）, 25% （ZBsC）, ＆ 35% （ZBsC） as replacement of cement. After 24 hour of casting all demoulded concrete specimens were exposed to hot water curing at 40℃, 50℃ and 60℃ for 1-day, 3-days, and 6-days. After that they were transferred to curing tank with water at room temperature and left there until they reached their test age. The result obtained suggests that temperature have positive influence on the strength development, but not at the same rate in time period. In plain concrete 7-days compressive strength of hot water cured specimens were higher than normal water cured specimens, but at 28-days normal water cured specimens achieve more compressive strength than hot water cured specimens. This phenomenon improves in concrete with partial replacement of cement by petroleum ＆ steel industry wastes.

GAGAN is an Indian implementation of satellite Based Augmentation system (sBAs), developed jointly by Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Indian space Research Organisation (IsRO). It is in final operational phase with all the required ground and space segments ready. With the availability of GAGAN signal-in-space (sIs), the improvement in position solution is investigated using the two collocated dual frequency GPs receivers. One of the receivers was configured as sBAs receiver and the other was kept as GPs stand-alone receiver. It is found that accuracy in position improved significantly in sBAs receiver due to GAGAN correction. The impact of scintillation on GNss was also investigated in terms of position degradation and loss of lock of the satellite signals. The manyfold effects of scintillation on GPs and sBAs are discussed in detail. The results indicate ~15% reduction in number of measurements due to loss of lock during severe scintillation.
