The Lomagundi(-Jatuli)event,characterized by extremely high positive global inorganic carbon isotope excursion at about 2.2 billion years ago,is pivotal in investigating the causes and consequences of great oxygenation event,inventory and sequestration of carbon on the Earth’s surface,evolution of life,and more profoundly tectonic control on Earth’s ***,the reasons that caused the isotopic excursion are not resolved ***,we report the discovery of meta-carbonate rocks with distinct positive carbon isotopic excursion from the Paleoproterozoic continental collision zone of the Kongling Complex,South China *** δ^(13)C_(V-PDB) values for meta-carbonate rocks show positive values in the range from+5.5‰to+11.6‰,whereas the δ^(13)C_(V-PDB) values of associated graphite deposits range from-25.8‰to-9.5‰.Zircon U-Pb-Hf isotopes from zircon-bearing meta-carbonate sample yielded weighted average _(207)Pb/_(206)Pb age of 2001.3±9.5 Ma,with correspondingε_(Hf)(t)range from-7.05 to-3.16,comparable to the values of local 2.9–2.6 Ga basement *** characteristics of meta-carbonate rocks,such as their rare earth element patterns and the trace element parameters of La,Ce,Eu,and Gd anomalies and Y/Ho ratio,suggest that the carbonate deposition took place in passive continental margin in association with large volumes of organic *** extensive graphite deposits from Kongling Complex in South China Craton,their equivalents in the North China Craton and elsewhere across the globe prove that the burial of ^(12)C-enriched organic carbon has eventually resulted in the global enrichment of ^(13)C in the atmospheric CO_(2),which is recorded in the marine carbonate *** mass balance estimates indicate that more than half of the organic carbon was buried during the oceanic ***,the observed global shift could be directly related to the continent collision event in greater China,thus resolving the long-standing paradox of the Lomag

Lactic acid has two stereoisomers of D(−)-and L(+)-forms,both of which are important monomers of biodegradable plastic,poly-lactic *** this study,a novel D-lactate inducible system was identified in Pseudomonas fluorescens A506,partially characterized and tested as *** D-lactate catabolic operon(lldP-dld-II)was negatively regulated through the inversely transcribed D-lldR(encoding a GntR-type regulator),where the repression is relieved by addition of *** derepression was specific to D-lactate and marginally affected by *** D-LldR-responsive operator,showing dyad symmetry and separated by one base,was located between+11 and+27 from the transcription start site of the lldP-dld-II *** site-directed mutagenesis,a motif with a dyad symmetry(AATTGGTAtTACCAATT),present in the upstream region of lldP,was identified as essential for the binding of LldR.D-lactate biosensors were developed by connecting the upregulation by D-lactate to a green fluorescent ***^6.0-fold induction by 100mM D-lactate was observed compared to Llactate.

Design and Analysis of an Adaptive Handover Protocol for 4G Networks

The future generation networks or 4G networks constitute of varied technologies converged over the Internet protocol version 6(IPv6) core. The 4G networks offer varied services over different interfaces to the user nodes. Mobility management in 4G networks is an issue that exists. The handover protocols for mobility management in 4G networks that currently exist, do not consider wireless signal degradation during handover operations. This paper introduces the Noise Resilient Reduced Registration Time Care of Mobile IP(NR RRTC:MIP) protocol for handover management. A handover decision algorithm based on the signal strength measured by the user nodes is considered in the NR RRTC: MIP protocol. A simulation study is discussed in the paper to evaluate the performance of the NR RRTC: MIP protocol. The results obtained from the simulation study prove that the NR RRTC: MIP protocol effectively reduces handover latencies and improves network performance.

Association of periodontal disease with glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes in Indian population

This study aims to investigate the link between glycated hemoglobin and diabetic complications with chronic periodontitis. A total of 207 patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic periodontitis （CP） were divided according to tertiles of mean PISA （periodontal inflamed surface area） scores as low, middle and high PISA groups. Simultaneously a group of 67 periodontally healthy individuals （PH） was recruited. Periodontal examinations, including full-mouth assessment of probing depths （PPD）, bleeding on probing, clinical attachment level and plaque scores were determined. Blood analyses were carried out for glycated hemoglobin （HbA1c）, fasting plasma glucose （FPG）, 2 h post parandial glucose （PPG）. Individuals in PH group had significantly better glycemic control than CP group. Upon one-way analysis of variance, subjects with increased PISA had significantly higher HbA1c levels, retinopathy and nephropathy （P 〈 0.05）. After controlling for age, gender, body mass index （BMI）, socioeconomic status （SES）, family history of diabetes and periodontitis, duration of diabetes, the mean PISA in mm^2, PPD 4-6 mm （%） and PPD ≥7 mm （%） emerged as significant predictors for elevated HbAlc in regression model （P 〈 0.05）. Logistic regression analysis revealed that PISA was associated with higher risk of having retinopathy and neuropathy （odds ratio）. In our study, the association between glycemic control and diabetic complications with periodontitis was observed.

Investigation of fundo-antral reflex in human beings

AIM： To examine the sensory and motor response（s） of the stomach following fundic distention and to assess whether cholinergic mechanisms influence these responses. METHODS： Fundic tone, gastric sensory responses and antral motility were evaluated in eight healthy volunteers after a probe with two sensors was placed in the antrum and a highly compliant balloon in the fundus. Isobaric balloon distentions were performed with a barostat. Study was repeated in six volunteers after intravenous atropine was given. RESULTS： Fundic antral contractions curve was higher First sensation distention induced large amplitude in all subjects. The area under the （P〈0.05） during fundic distention. was reported at 12±4 mmHg, moderate sensation at 18±4 mmHg and discomfort at 21±4 mmHg. Discomfort was associated with a decrease in antral motility. After atropine was given, the area under the curve of pressure waves and fundic tone decreased （P〈0.05）. Sensory thresholds were not affected. CONCLUSIONS： Fundic balloon distention induces an antral motor response, the fundo-antral reflex, which in part may be mediated by cholinergic mechanisms.

The Kohima Syncline exposes the Eocene Upper Disang Formation in an extensive region that is composed of grey shales with subordinate sandstone and siltstone *** shales contain low to fair amount of organic matters represented by Type IV/Type III terrestrial *** Biomarkers indicate presence of terrestrial angiosperms and microbially reworked organic matters with some marine ***-Eval maturity parameters indicate maturity within a wide range between immature to post mature wet gas window,while the biomarkers show maturity between immature to mid *** biomarkers indicate that the Disang shales deposited in an oxic deltaic-terrigenous *** trace elements characterize an oxic to suboxic warm and humid depositional *** trace elements point to deposition in a low salinity continental rather than a marine ***,several biomarker and trace element parameters show that a continental milieu was already established during the deposition of the Upper Disang *** indicates that either the Disang basin,that evolved as a marine basin,suffered rapid shallowing during the deposition of the Upper Disang sediments,or the Lower and Upper Disangs were coeval and Lower Disangs represented deep marine facies while the Upper Disangs represented peripheral shallow marine deltaic *** parameters like Tmax and,sterane and hopane isomerization ratios indicate that the organic matters of the Disang Group were affected by sudden short duration thermal events followed by *** is possible in an active tectonic region like the Kohima Syncline that bears many evidences of thrusting and folding.

Magnetic Flux Alignment Studies on Entrapped Ferrofuid Nanoparticles in Poly Vinyl Alcohol Matrix

Highly surface active super paramagnetic colloidal suspensions of nano crystalline ferrofluid have been synthesized through wet-chemical route. Entrapment of magnetic domains presented in the nano ferrofluid in a polymer matrix like poly vinyl alcohol film was accomplished by developing polymer composite film in between two magnetic poles by solvent casting method. Similarly poly vinyl alcohol-ferrofluid composite films were also developed in the absence of magnetic field. Atomic force microscopy image of nano-composite film makes it clear that the film developed in the absence of magnetic field possesses randomly oriented domains, whereas film developed with magnetic field shows well aligned flux lines. The characteristics and nature of forces acting between magnetic domains along the magnetic flux lines were explored from magnetic force microscopy imaging. The number of flux lines developed in the polymer matrix was observed to be directly proportional to applied external magnetic field. Approximate number of magnetic lines passing through unit area of composite film was evaluated from line profile data analysis of atomic force microscopy image. The particle sizes of the nanoparticles encapsulated in the polymer matrix were found to be in the range of 10- 20 nm. Scanning electron microscopy micrographs confirm aggregation of ferrofluid particles of ribbon like morphology along the magnetic flux lines. Magnetic properties of the entrapped nanoparticles in polymer matrix film were analyzed using vibrating sample magnetometer at room temperature. The super paramagnetic nature and other magnetic properties were evaluated from the hysteresis loop.

Predicting morbidity and mortality in acute pancreatitis in an Indian population:a comparative study of the BISAP score,Ranson’s score and CT severity index

Objective:Our aim was to prospectively evaluate the accuracy of the bedside index for severity in acute pancreatitis(BISAP)score in predicting mortality,as well as intermediate markers of severity,in a tertiary care centre in east central India,which caters mostly for an economically underprivileged ***:A total of 119 consecutive cases with acute pancreatitis were admitted to our institution between November 2012 and October *** scores were calculated for all cases,within 24 hours of ***’s score and computed tomography severity index(CTSI)were also *** respective abilities of the three scoring systems to predict mortality was evaluated using trend and discrimination *** optimal cut-off score for mortality from the receiver operating characteristics(ROC)curve was used to evaluate the development of persistent organ failure and pancreatic necrosis(PNec).Results:Of the 119 cases,42(35.2%)developed organ failure and were classified as severe acute pancreatitis(SAP),47(39.5%)developed PNec,and 12(10.1%)*** area under the curve(AUC)results for BISAP score in predicting SAP,PNec,and mortality were 0.962,0.934 and 0.846,***’s score showed a slightly lower accuracy for predicting SAP(AUC 0.956)and mortality(AUC 0.841).CTSI was the most accurate in predicting PNec,with an AUC of *** sensitivity and specificity of BISAP score,with a cut-off of≥3 in predicting mortality,were 100%and 69.2%,***:The BISAP score represents a simple way of identifying,within 24 hours of presentation,patients at greater risk of dying and the development of intermediate markers of *** risk stratification method can be utilized to improve clinical care and facilitate enrolment in clinical trials.
