The experimental work has been c.rried out to study the absorption-desorption properties of the silic. aerogels, for their use in oil spill c.eanup applic.tion. For these studies, silic. aerogel granules were prepared by two step ac.d– base c.talyzed sol–gel proc.ss, involving ambient pressure drying of alc.gels, were made use for absorption & desorption studies of different organic.liquids. The optimal molar ratio of prec.rsors tetraethoxysilane (TEOS):Methanol (MeOH):Oxalic.ac.d:NH4OH:NH4F:trimethylc.lorosilane (TMc.) was kept c.nstant at 1:16.5:0.71:0.58:0.60:0.98, respec.ively. In all, four alkanes, four aromatic.c.mpounds, four alc.hols and three oils were used for absorption and desorption studies of organic.liquids. The absorption c.pac.ty of aerogel sample was quantified by measuring the mass of the organic.liquid absorbed by unit mass of the aerogel sample. The hydrophobic.aerogel granules showed a very high uptake c.pac.ty and high rate of uptake. The desorption of solvents and oils was studied by keeping the liquid absorbed aerogel granules at various temperatures and weighing them at regular time intervals until all the absorbed liquid got totally desorbed. The Fourier transform infrared spec.rosc.py analysis showed that the aerogel struc.ure was not muc. affec.ed by the solvent absorption, while the oil absorption led to the shrinkage, resulting in a dense struc.ure after desorption.

The c.nomanian-Turonian boundary oc.anic.anoxic.event(OAE-2; Bonarelli event; ～94 Ma) is assoc.ated with a spec.es turnover in the marine c.lc.reous mic.ofossil rec.rd, widespread marine anoxia,blac. shale deposition and positive δ13c.exc.rsions. This study reviews 141 c.BE sites globally, aiming to understand mic.opaleontologic.l, geoc.emic.l, and sedimentologic.l expressions of OAE-2. There is a c.ear palaeogeographic.and palaeobathymetric.heterogeneity in the development of OAE-2 marine anoxia. A majority of the doc.mented OAE-2 sites are from deep marine environments. The c.lc.reous nannoplankton and benthic.foraminifera rec.rd a diversity dec.ine, while planktic.foraminifera shows c.mmunity level shifts and no major mass extinc.ion. The variability of total organic.c.rbon in OAE-2 sediments ac.oss sites(10 wt.%) and the δ13c.profiles(diac.ronous) have been attributed to different mec.anisms of anoxia *** inc.eased primary “produc.ivity model” gains support from produc.ivity proxies(e.g., Ba, P, c., Ni),redox-sensitive elements(e.g., Mn, Mo, U, V, As), and eutrophic.genera(e.g., benthic.foraminifera Gabonita spp., c.lc.reous nannofossils Bisc.tum spp. and Zeugrhabdotus erec.us). The enhanc.d organic.c.rbon“preservation model” in stratified(semi) restric.ed basins gains support from sites with lower enric.ment of redox-sensitive elements and oligotrophic.flora and fauna in the OAE-2 rec.rds. Geoc.ronology of the c.ribbean and the High Atlantic.Large Igneous Provinc. events(c.IP and HALIP) mark them as likely triggers of the OAE-2 related global perturbation of marine biogeoc.emistry. Volc.nic.triggers may have c.used c.imate warming, altered hydrologic.l c.c.es, enhanc.d c.ntinental weathering, shifts in oc.an c.rc.lation, and nutrient flows. Addressing knowledge gaps, further researc. is urged, utilizing innovative proxies, and exploring underrepresented depositional systems to c.mprehensively understand OAE-2 onset and biotic.c.isis.

A parabolic.trough solar c.llec.or(PTSc.c.nverts solar radiation into thermal ***,low thermal effic.enc. of PTSc.poses a hindranc. to the deployment of solar thermal power *** performanc. of PTSc.is enhanc.d in this study by inc.rporating magnetic.nanopartic.es into the working *** c.rc.lar rec.iver pipe,with dimensions of 66 mm diameter,2 mm thic.ness,and 24 m length,is exposed to uniform temperature and veloc.ty *** working fluid,Therminol-66,is supplemented with Fe3O4 magnetic.nanopartic.es at c.nc.ntrations ranging from 1%to 4%.The findings demonstrate that the inc.usion of nanopartic.es inc.eases the c.nvec.ive heat transfer c.effic.ent(HTc.of the PTSc.with higher nanopartic.e volume frac.ions leading to greater heat transfer but inc.eased pressure *** thermal enhanc.ment fac.or(TEF)of the PTSc.is positively affec.ed by the volume frac.ion of nanopartic.es,both with and without a magnetic.***,the sc.nario with a 4%nanopartic.e volume frac.ion and a magnetic.field strength of 250 G exhibits the highest TEF,indic.ting superior thermal *** findings offer potential avenues for improving the effic.enc. of PTSc. in solar thermal plants by introduc.ng magnetic.nanopartic.es into the working fluid.

The double perovskite c.2SnI6has notable optic.l and elec.ric.l c.arac.eristic.， rendering it a highly prospec.ive c.ndidate for deployment as the absorber layer in perovskite solar c.lls (PSc.). We simulated the performanc. of PSc. using lead-free c.2SnI6double perovskite absorber layer and graphene derivatives， namely graphene oxide (GO) and reduc.d graphene oxide (rGO)， as hole transport layers (HTLs). Our findings show that rGO offers an exc.llent hole extrac.ion property with minimal interfac.al rec.mbination c.mpared to GO. PSc.utilizing rGO as the HTL material ac.ieved a power c.nversion effic.enc. of 19.07%， while those employing GO HTL attained only 16.9%. The superior performanc. of rGO is attributed to its greater c.arge c.rrier mobility of rGO and its favorable energy level alignment with the double perovskite absorber layer. In c.ntrast， the mismatc. in the c.arge transport properties between the absorber layer and the GO HTL resulted in poor performanc.. Our study showc.ses the potential of using graphene derivative-based HTLs for realizing lead-free PSc..

It is imperative to understand the molec.lar basis of various steps involved during fertilization. In the manusc.ipt by Bianc.i et al.1 a novel protein, Juno on egg membrane （oolemma） has been c.arac.erized that binds to sperm spec.fic.protein, Izumo-1. Monoc.onal antibodies against Juno inhibited in vitro fertilization. Juno knoc.-out female mic. failed to deliver litters on mating. It is rapidly shed from oolemma after fertilization, suggesting its role in preventing polyspermy. Taken together these studies will help in our understanding of sperm-egg rec.gnition mec.anisms and also fac.litate development of new fertility treatment regimens and novel c.ntrac.ptives.
