Here we report experiments on particle cluster settling at high Reynolds number in quiescent liquid contained in a *** particles were observed to spread at the vessel bottom surface in a near-circular annular shape after settling irrespective of the shape of the vessel cross-section and particle shape,size,and *** of different parameters such as mass,type and aspect ratio of the particles,height,and viscosity of liquid was investigated on spreading *** of the hemispherical bottom cap of the cluster that bounces upon hitting the vessel bottom surface was found to be responsible for the final circular annular shape of the settled *** leakage from the cluster was seen in the form of a *** the liquid having viscosity beyond 100 cP,cluster breakage was observed that resulted in hindered settling and asymmetric shapes of finally settled *** observations are useful to understand the overall area over which settling and spreading of such clusters can be observed.

Distributed Generation(DG)sources,predominantly renewable energy-based,such as solar photovoltaic and wind energy sources,have significantly penetrated into power system *** high penetration of DG sources may lead to the formation of unintentional islands,which is hazardous to both the equipment and personnel,if *** this paper,46 passive parameters are considered to find out which candidate(s)are promising for detecting sustained unintentional islands and avoid false DG *** 46 parameters are derived from point of common coupling(PCC)voltage,DG output current,frequency,power factor angle,active and reactive *** these parameters are tested on standard IEEE 13 and 34 bus distribution networks,integrated with inverter-interfaced DGs at different locations for different penetration levels in the MATLAB/SIMULINK *** parameters are tested for different islanding events(comprising of various local loads,such as conventional parallel RLC resonant load,R,RC,and RL loads)and for different non-islanding *** parameters are then ranked accordingly by a suitable averaging approach based performance ranking *** this analysis,the best candidates are obtained for detecting inverter DG islands at single-point(or single PCC)locations and multi-point(or multiple PCCs)*** best passive candidates are obtained for different island scenarios from which a set of promising islanding detection indicators are proposed.

The current and future status of the internet is represented by the upcoming Internet of Things(IoT).The internet can connect the huge amount of data,which contains lot of processing operations and efforts to transfer the pieces of *** emerging IoT technology in which the smart ecosystem is enabled by the physical object fixed with software electronics,sensors and network ***,there are two trending technologies that take the platform i.e.,Software Defined Network(SDN)and IoT(SD-IoT).The main aim of the IoT network is to connect and organize different objects with the internet,which is managed with the control panel and data panel in the SD *** main issue and the challenging factors in this network are the increase in the delay and latency problem between the *** is more significant for wide area networks,because of the large packet propagation latency and the controller placement problem is more important in every *** the proposed work,IoT is implementing with adaptive fuzzy controller placement using the enhanced sunflower optimization(ESFO)algorithm and Pareto Optimal Controller placement tool(POCO)for the placement problem of the *** order to prove the efficiency of the proposed system,it is compared with other existing methods like PASIN,hybrid SD and PSO in terms of load balance,reduced number of controllers and average latency and *** 2 controllers,the proposed method obtains 400 miles as average latency,which is 22.2%smaller than PSO,76.9%lesser than hybrid SD and 91.89%lesser than PASIN.

The present study deals with development of conceptual proof for jute rubber based flexible composite block to completely arrest the projectile impacting the target at high velocity impact of 400 m/s through numerical simulation approach using finite element(FE)*** proposed flexible composite blocks of repeating jute/rubber/jute(JRJ)units are modelled with varying thickness from 30 mm to 120 mm in increments of 30 mm and impacted by flat(F),ogival(O)and hemispherical(HS)shaped *** the considered projectiles are impacted with proposed flexible composite blocks of different thicknesses and the penetration behaviour of the projectile in each case is *** penetration depth of the projectile in case of partially penetrated cases are considered and the effect of thickness and projectile shape on percentage of penetration depth is statistically analyzed using Taguchi’s design of experiments(DOE).Results reveal that the though proposed flexible composite block with thickness of 90 mm is just sufficient to arrest the complete penetration of the projectile,considering the safety issues,it is recommended to use the flexible composite with thickness of 120 *** nature of damage caused by the projectile in the flexible composite is also *** studies show that thickness of the block plays a prominent role in determining the damage resistance of the flexible composite.

The present study deals with the experimental,finite element(FE)and analytical assessment of low ballistic impact response of proposed flexible‘green’composite make use of naturally available jute and rubber as the constituents of the composite with stacking sequences namely jute/rubber/jute(JRJ),jute/rubber/rubber/jute(JRRJ)and jute/rubber/jute/rubber/jute(JRJRJ).Ballistic impact tests were carried out by firing a conical projectile using a gas gun apparatus at lower range of ballistic impact *** ballistic impact response of the proposed flexible composites are assesses based on energy absorption and damage *** revealed that inclusion of natural rubber aids in better energy absorption and mitigating the failure of the proposed *** the three different stacking sequences of flexible composites considered,JRJRJ provides better ballistic performance compared to its *** damage study reveals that the main mechanism of failure involved in flexible composites is matrix tearing as opposed to matrix cracking in stiff composites indicating that the proposed flexible composites are free from catastrophic *** obtained from experimental,FE and analytical approach pertaining to energy absorption and damage mechanism agree well with each *** proposed flexible composites due to their exhibited energy absorption capabilities and damage mechanism are best suited as claddings for structural application subjected to impact with an aim of protecting the main structural component from being failed catastrophically.

Polymer matrix composites(PMC)are extensively been used in many engineering *** natural fibers have emerged as potential replacements to synthetic fibers as reinforcing materials composites owing to their fairly better mechanical properties,low cost,environment friendliness and *** of appropriate constituents of composites for a particular application is a tedious task for a designer/*** loading has emerged as the serious threat for the composites used in structural or secondary structural application and demands the usage of appropriate fiber and matrix combination to enhance the energy absorption and mitigate the *** objective of the present review is to explore the composite with various fiber and matrix combination used for impact applications,identify the gap in the literature and suggest the potential naturally available fiber and matrix combination of composites for future work in the field of impact *** novelty of the present study lies in exploring the combination of naturally available fiber and matrix combination which can help in better energy absorption and mitigate the failure when subjected to impact *** addition,the application of multi attributes decision making(MADM)tools is demonstrated for selection of fiber and matrix materials which can serve as a benchmark study for the researchers in future.
