A three-dimensional mathematical hydrodynamic model associated with surface wave radiation by a floating rectangular box-type structure due to heave,sway,and roll motions in finite water depth is investigated based on small amplitude water wave theory and linear structural *** analytical expressions for the radiation potentials,wave forces,and hydrodynamic coefficients are presented based on matched eigenfunction expansion method(MEFEM).The correctness of the analytical results of wave forces is compared with the construction of a numerical model using the open-source boundary element method code *** addition,the present result is compared with the existing published experimental results available in the *** effects of the different design parameters on the floating box-type rectangular structure are studied by analyzing the vertical wave force,horizontal wave force,torque,added mass,and damping coefficients due to the heave,sway,and roll motions,and the comparison analysis between the forces is also analyzed in ***,the effect of reflection and transmission coefficients by varying the structural width and drafts are analyzed.

Theoretical prediction and validation of global horizontal solar irradiance for a tropical climate in India

This paper aims to propose monthly models responsible for the theoretical evaluation of the global horizontal irradiance of a tropical region in India which is Sivagangai situated in Tamilnadu. The actual measured global horizontal irradiance hails from a 5 MW solar power plant station located at Sivagangai in Tamilnadu. The data were monitored from May 2011 to April 2013. The theoretical assessment was conducted differently by employing a programming platform called Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express. A graphical user interface was created using Visual Basic 2010 Express, which provided the evaluation of empirical parameters for model formulation such as daily sunshine duration （5）, maximum possible sunshine hour duration （S0）, extra terrestrial horizontal global irradiance （H0） and extra terrestrial direct normal irradiance （G0）. The proposed regression models were validated by the significance of statistical indicators such as mean bias error, root mean square error and mean percentage error from the predicted and the actual values for the region considered. Comparison was made between the proposed monthly models and the existing normalized models for global horizontal irradiance evaluation.

Interaction between surface gravity wave and submerged horizontal flexible structures

Interactions between surface gravity wave and submerged horizontal flexible structures are studied under the assumption of small amplitude water wave theory and structural response. The generalized dispersion relation associated with surface gravity wave interaction with submerged horizontal flexible plate is analyzed to understand the characteristics of the two propagating modes due to the presence of the free surface and submerged horizontal plate. The phase and group velocities are studied in order to analyze the effect of submerged flexible plate on gravity wave motion. The expansion formulae based on Green’s function technique and eigenfunction expansion method using Fourier transform with appropriate orthogonal mode-coupling relation associated with surface gravity wavemaker problems are derived and compared in both the cases of water of finite and infinite depths. The usefulness of the expansion formulae is demonstrated by deriving the solution for surface gravity wave interaction with submerged articulated flexible plate in water of finite depth. Several numerical results on reflection and transmission coefficients related to submerged flexible plate are presented in order to understand the effect of submerged flexible structure on surface wave motion in different cases.

Extreme learning with chemical reaction optimization for stock volatility prediction

Extreme learning machine(ELM)allows for fast learning and better generalization performance than conventional gradient-based ***,the possible inclusion of non-optimal weight and bias due to random selection and the need for more hidden neurons adversely influence network ***,choosing the optimal number of hidden nodes for a network usually requires intensive human intervention,which may lead to an ill-conditioned *** this context,chemical reaction optimization(CRO)is a meta-heuristic paradigm with increased success in a large number of application *** is characterized by faster convergence capability and requires fewer tunable *** study develops a learning framework combining the advantages of ELM and CRO,called extreme learning with chemical reaction optimization(ELCRO).ELCRO simultaneously optimizes the weight and bias vector and number of hidden neurons of a single layer feed-forward neural network without compromising prediction *** evaluate its performance by predicting the daily volatility and closing prices of BSE ***,its performance is compared with three other similarly developed models—ELM based on particle swarm optimization,genetic algorithm,and gradient descent—and find the performance of the proposed algorithm *** signed-rank and Diebold–Mariano tests are then conducted to verify the statistical significance of the proposed ***,this model can be used as a promising tool for financial forecasting.

A chemical-reaction-optimization-based neuro-fuzzy hybrid network for stock closing price prediction

Accurate prediction of stock market behavior is a challenging issue for financial *** neural networks,such as multilayer perceptron have been established as better approximation and classification models for this *** study proposes a chemical reaction optimization(CRO)based neuro-fuzzy network model for prediction of stock *** input vectors to the model are fuzzified by applying a Gaussian membership function,and each input is associated with a degree of membership to different classes.A multilayer perceptron with one hidden layer is used as the base model and CRO is used to the optimal weights and biases of this *** was chosen because it requires fewer control parameters and has a faster convergence *** statistical parameters are used to evaluate the performance of the model,and the model is validated by forecasting the daily closing indices for five major stock *** performance of the proposed model is compared with four state-of-art models that are trained similarly and was found to be *** conducted the Deibold-Mariano test to check the statistical significance of the proposed model,and it was found to be *** model can be used as a promising tool for financial forecasting.

Accurate forecasting of changes in stock market indices can provide financial managers and individual investors with strategically valuable ***,predicting the closing prices of stock indices remains a challenging task because stock price movements are characterized by high volatility and *** paper proposes a novel condensed polynomial neural network(CPNN)for the task of forecasting stock closing price *** developed a model that uses partial descriptions(PDs)and is limited to only two layers for the PNN *** outputs of these PDs along with the original features are fed to a single output neuron,and the synaptic weight values and biases of the CPNN are optimized by a genetic *** proposed model was evaluated by predicting the next day’s closing price of five fast-growing stock indices:the BSE,DJIA,NASDAQ,FTSE,and *** comparative testing,the proposed model proved its ability to provide closing price predictions with superior ***,the Deibold-Mariano test justified the statistical significance of the model,establishing that this approach can be adopted as a competent financial forecasting tool.

Dynamic mechanical behaviour of resorcinol-formaldehyde matrix and its composites reinforced with natural fibers of Luffa cylindrica (LC) has been studied. The effects of fiber loading, alkali treatment on fiber, temperature and frequency on storage modulus and mechanical-loss factor of the composites were studied. The dynamic mechanical behaviour of the composites and pure matrix has been investigated in the frequency range from 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz and temperature range from 26℃ to 100℃. The experimental results show that the values of storage modulus of the composites increase with increase in fiber loading. The storage modulus of treated LC fiber composites were found to be enhanced when compared with the untreated fiber composites. It was also found that mechanical-loss factor was more when untreated LC fibers were incorporated in the composites and decreased with the incorporation of treated LC fiber. The storage modulus of all the composites increased with frequency but decreased with rise of temperature. The glass transition temperature of the composites was evaluated from the peaks of tan delta variations.

Electrical Behaviour and Spherulites Morphology of HDPE/PP Polyblends with HDPE as Base Material

Polymer composites of virgin high density poly ethylene (HDPE) and virgin polypropylene (PP) are prepared. PP of weight% of 20, 30 and 50 are reinforced to HDPE in the form of pellets. They are converted into raw polymer sheets using a two roll milling machine. The prepared raw sheets have undergone compression moulding to fabricate polymer sheets to study electrical properties like dielectric strength, surface resistivity and volume resistivity at atmospheric temperature and pressure. Result shows dielectric strength and volume resistivity decreases with addition of PP to HDPE, whereas surface resistivity increases. Crystal growth rate is observed using a cross polarised microscope (PLM). The microscopy results reveal, the PP crystallizes faster than HDPE and the growth rate declines for the polyblend;showing non-uniform and hazy spherulitic structure.

Complete Cytogenetic Insight of Tho-Tho Cattle

To investigate the cytogenetic parameters and characterise the chromosomal banding pattern of Tho-Tho cattle, a breed of indigenous cattle found in the Northeastern states of India were reared for meat purpose. Lymphocyte culture technique was carried out in 28 Tho-Tho cattle and culture was harvested for good metaphase spread. Good metaphase spreads were selected for analysis, such as relative length, centromeric index and arm ratio. Centromeric banding （C-banding） and reverse banding （R-banding） methods were done for detail and better understanding of the chromosome morphology. The chromosome number in Tho-Tho cattle was observed to be 2n = 60 in all complete metaphase. The mean relative length of the autosomal chromosomes varied from 5.48% ：~ 0.107% to 1.79% ＋ 0.105% in male and 5.31% ：E 0.148% to 1.86% ＋ 0.055% in female, respectively. The chromosome banding showed C-positive dark band heterochromatin in all the acrocentric autosome. However, in sex chromosome, the Y-chromosome showed negative C-band and also the X-chromosome did not show any stain at the centromeric region. The numbers of R-band pattern were observed to be 490 and 499 band in male and female, respectively. One of the X-chromosome showed light banding pattern, confirming the inactivation during the embryonic development in female. The fundamental chromosome number and banding pattern of Tho-Tho cattle did not vary from the other breed of the Bos indicus. However, it is necessary to start a cytogenetic screening of the Tho-Tho cattle and expand upon more number to be kept at different villages of Nagaland in order to identify animals with chromosomal abnormalities, so that it can be excluded from future breeding strategies for conservation of Tho-Tho genetic resource.
