BACKGROUND: e.e.ge.cy physicians fre.ue.tly e.counte. patie.ts with acute.small bowe. obstructions(SBO). Although compute. tomography(CT) imaging is the.curre.t gold standard in the.asse.sme.t of patie.ts with suspe.te. SBO in the.e.e.ge.cy de.artme.t, a fe. studie. have.e.amine. the.use.of ultrasound as an alte.native.imaging te.hnique. Me.HODS: We.e.aluate. the.accuracy of ultrasound pe.forme. in the.e. by a varie.y of provide.s(physicians with various le.e.s of training, physician assistants) compare. to CT imaging in 47 patie.ts with suspe.te. SBOs. Re.ULTS: Our data de.onstrate. a se.sitivity of 93.8% and a spe.ificity of 93.3% whe. compare. to abdominal CT, and a se.sitivity of 94.3% and spe.ificity of 95.2% using a composite.e.dpoint of abdominal CT and discharge.diagnosis. CONCLUSION: Ultrasound can play an important role.in the.ide.tification of small bowe. obstructions in e. patie.ts.

BACKGROUND Due.to de.e.opme.t of an immune.dysre.ulate. phe.otype.advance. live. dise.se.in all forms pre.ispose. patie.ts to se.sis acquisition,including by opportunistic pathoge.s such as *** data e.ists on fungal infe.tion within a me.ical inte.sive.live. unit(MILU),particularly in re.ation to acute.on chronic live. *** To inve.tigate.the.impact of fungal infe.tions among critically ill patie.ts with advance. live. dise.se.and compare.outcome. to those.of patie.ts with bacte.ial *** From our prospe.tive.re.istry of MILU patie.ts from 2018-2022,we.include. 27 patie.ts with culture.positive.fungal infe.tions and 183 with bacte.ial *** compare. outcome. be.we.n patie.ts admitte. to the.MILU with fungal infe.tions to bacte.ial *** was e.tracte. through chart *** All fungal infe.tions we.e.due.to Candida spe.ie.,and we.e.most fre.ue.tly blood *** among patie.ts with fungal infe.tions was significantly worse.re.ative.to the.bacte.ial cohort(93%vs 52%,Pe.majority of the.fungal cohort de.e.ope. grade.2 or 3 acute.on chronic live. failure.ACLF)(90%vs 64%,P=0.02).Patie.ts in the.fungal cohort had incre.se. use.of vasopre.sors(96%vs 70%,P=0.04),me.hanical ve.tilation(96%vs 65%,Pe.to acute.kidne. injury(78%vs 52%,P=0.014).On MILU admission,the.fungal cohort had significantly highe.
