In this work,an alternative alkali-activated cement(AAC)made of ladle slag precursor mixed with sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate has been developed to enhance the bearing capacity of estuarine soils in coastal conditions via deep soil mixing(DSM).The AAC was optimized to use a low reactivity precursor(ladle slag)and to deal with a contaminated high-water content natural sediment cured under *** material performance was analysed by comparison to a mixture made with Portland cement and cured in the same *** and unconfined compressive strength tests as well as seismic waves measurements after 3-,7-,14-and 28-d curing were performed to obtain a relationship between elastic stiffness and strength with curing time for both ***,the AAC mix demonstrated superior strength results,exhibiting almost double flexural and compressive strengths after 28 d compared to the Portland cement *** AAC mix also showed a higher rate of stiffness increase than the Portland cement mix,which has a higher initial stiffness at young ages but lower stiffness *** analysis confirmed that the proposed AAC could effectively immobilise any contaminants from soil or *** effect of curing under stress was analysed in triaxial compression tests and found to be insignificant,indicating that laboratory data obtained without stress curing can represent the material's behaviour in a DSM column,which will cure under the weight of the column.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) is a common gastrointestinal disorder in cystic fibrosis(cf), and based on various studies, its prevalence is elevated since childhood. There are several pathogenetic mechanisms on the basis of association between cf and GERD. However, there are no specific guidelines for GERD in cf patients, so diagnosis is based on guidelines performed on patients not affected by cf. The aim of this review is to provide the pathophysiology, diagnostic and therapeutic options, complications, and future directions in the management of GERD patients with cf.

Objective: To compare oral hygiene practices, education and social background, food intake and oral malodor of Algerian adults suffering from dental caries with normal controls, and to determine and compare the bacterial composition of the supragingival plaques from the above-mentioned ***: Participants completed a questionnaire and were clinically examined for dental caries using decayed, missing and filled teeth index according to the criteria laid down by the World Health Organization. Supragingival plaque samples were collected from 50 caries-free adults(cf) and 50 caries-active adults(CA). Standard procedures of culture and identification of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria were used. Data were analyzed using Chi-square ***: A total of 117 bacterial strains were isolated from supragingival plaques in cf group subjects, 76(64.96%) of them belonged to 9 aerobic genera, and 41(35.04%) to 9anaerobic genera(P cf group, while there was no association of socioeconomic levels and intake of meal snacks with dental ***: This study confirms the association of some aciduric bacteria with caries formation, and a direct association of sugar intake and cultural level with dental ***, oral hygiene practices minimize the prevalence of tooth decay.

The Use of Coffee Pulp as a Potential Alternative Supplement in Ruminant Diets

The study was conducted to evaluate the use of dried industrial coffee pulp in diets as supplement for ruminants. Two diets were formulated： A and B with 30% coffee pulp content each and different concentrations of carbohydrates （milled corn, corn bran, molasses, alfalfa hay） and fibrous residues （corn stubble, sugar cane mash） as ingredients. The dried coffee pulp was subjected to proximate analyses, whilst the two diets were subjected to nutritional and microbiological analyses. The results of the proximate analyses showed that the dried coffee pulp has 18% crude protein （CP）, 33.6% crude fibre （cf） and total digestible nutrients （TDN） content of 63.8%. Diets A and B had the similar mean values for CP, cf and TDN （17%, 4.3% and 75.6%, respectively）. The microbiological results showed that the two diets had the same minimal values for Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp. and coliform bacteria, which were all within the normal allowed values. The results indicate that dry coffee pulp in diets could be supplemented to ruminants for supporting milk and meat production without any adverse effect on their health.
