Background:Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)is a complex prototypic autoimmune disease,with a prevalence of 20–150 per 100,000,most commonly affecting women at child-bearing ***-wide association studies and fine mapping of candidate regions have paved the way for greater understanding of SLE as a disease of genetic–environmental susceptibility and the functions of the genes ***:This study was conducted to determine the association of selected single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)from established genomic databases based on theoretical risk and protective odds ratios>2.5 or<0.40)to susceptibility of developing SLE among ***:We analyzed data from 310 SLE patients and 318 *** identified eight significant SNPs namely rs9271100,rs9271366,rs9272105,rs9275328,rs2647087,rs12734338,rs17885098,and rs3883013 to be associated with an increased risk of developing SLE among ***:Eight SNPs were found to be associated with the development of SLE among *** to previous genetic studies in lupus patients,majority of the SNPs were found in the major histocompatibilty complex genes in the HLA *** study identified two unique SNPs that will be validated as potential diagnostic markers for *** findings of this study may contribute to the development of a polygenic risk score in determining susceptibility to SLE among Filipinos.

在制定森林系统恢复计划时总是需要考虑火灾的威胁。在波多黎各干旱森林恢复项目执行时,曾于2006年和2007年发生了两次野火事件。该项目的最初目的是确定乡土树种在栽培的银合欢(Leucaena leucocephala)树下与在开阔地(林窗)中的不同生长响应。项目根据树种叶子的习性、演替状态以及火前环境条件抗性的研究,评估了林木的生长、死亡率和对火灾的响应。结果表明,无论树种叶子的习性和演替状态如何,在栽培树木之下都能长得更高,死亡率也更低。在开阔地带,树木对林火最常见的响应是发芽;成熟林和常绿树种的火后存活机率比先锋树种和落叶树种更高。虽然一般在再造林项目中使用栽培树木来调节养分或光环境,但它们看上去也附带了次级效益——通过减少可燃物,从而降低火灾的损失。

Chemical Characterization,Antibacterial and Antioxidant Activities of Essential Oils of Mentha viridis *** Mentha pulegium L.(L)

The essential oils from Mentha viridis L. and Mentha pulegium L. were characterized by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS). These oils were obtained by hydrodistillation and presented linalool (40.70%), carvone (13.52%) and α-terpinene (8.56%) as the principal constituents in the essential oil from Mentha viridis L. Pulegone (50.01%), menthol (31.90%) and menthone (16.56%) were the principal constituents in the essential oil from Mentha pulegium L. These essential oils (in concentrations ranging from 3.91 to 500 μL·mL-1) showed satisfactory activities against Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella choleraesuis and Staphylococcus aureus. The antioxidant activities with 2-deoxyribose and phosphomolybdenum and the reducing power (in concentrations ranging from 0.78 to 1000 μL·mL-1) were determined. The antioxidant activity was observed for the two oils evaluated by the phosphomolybdenum and 2-deoxyribose methods, whereas the essential oil from M. viridis presented low antioxidant activity in the reducing power assay.

AIM To investigate the role of minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer and determine surgical, clinical, and oncological *** This is a propensity score-matched case-control study, comparing three treatment arms: robotic gastrectomy(RG), laparoscopic gastrectomy(LG), open gastrectomy(OG). Data collection started after sharing a specific study protocol. Data were recorded through a tailored and protected web-based system. Primary outcomes: harvested lymph nodes, estimated blood loss, hospital stay, complications rate. Among the secondary outcomes, there are: operative time, R0 resections, POD of mobilization, POD of starting liquid diet and soft solid diet. The analysis includes the evaluation of type and grade of postoperative complications. Detailed information of anastomotic leakages is also *** The present analysis was carried out of 1026 gastrectomies. To guarantee homogenous distribution of cases, patients in the RG, LG and OG groups were 1:1:2 matched using a propensity score analysis with a caliper = 0.2. The successful matching resulted in a total sample of 604 patients(RG = 151; LG = 151; OG = 302). The three groups showed no differences in all baseline patients characteristics, type of surgery(P = 0.42) and stage of the disease(P = 0.16). Intraoperative blood loss was significantly lower in the LG(95.93 ± 119.22) and RG(117.91 ± 68.11) groups compared to the OG(127.26 ± 79.50, P = 0.002). The mean number of retrieved lymph nodes was similar between the RG(27.78 ± 11.45), LG(24.58 ± 13.56) and OG(25.82 ± 12.07) approach. A benefit in favor of the minimally invasive approaches was found in the length of hospital stay(P < 0.0001). A similar complications rate was found(P = 0.13). DNA vaccines are the third generation vaccines based on purified plasmid preparations containing transgenes that encode antigenic/therapeutic proteins or peptides capable of triggering an immune response against a wide range of diseases. This vaccine platform presents several attributes that confer distinct advantages over other vaccine technologies in terms of safety, ease of fabrication and stability. Many aspects, such as antigen expression and especially vector design, are under study because of their great influence on immunogenicity and efficacy of DNA vaccines. In this regard, with the attempt of improving the efficiency of DNA vaccines, co-expression of stimulatory sequences and diverse vector delivery systems are being optimized. With this in mind, this review aims to giving a conceptual approach of DNA vaccines, explaining their mechanisms of action and listing the already licensed veterinary DNA vaccines presented in the market.

2024年7月16日，第三次新疆综合科学考察额尔齐斯河流域水生生物多样性调查科考队于阿勒泰哈尔加湖（86°48′36″E,47°49′48″N，海拔490m）发现新疆维吾尔自治区一级重点保护野生动物——金鲫（Carassius carassius，图1a）。该物种最早于1964年在中国科学院动物研究所、中国科学院新疆分院生物土壤沙漠研究所、新疆维吾尔自治区水利厅及新疆大学联合开展的“新疆北部鱼类调查研究”项目中于阿勒泰盐池渔场被首次记录（李思忠等1966，中国科学院动物研究所等1979）。
