Introduction: Fractures of the humeral pallet occur between the distal insertion of the anterior brachial muscle and the joint space of the elbow. It represents 2% of all elbow fractures. These lower humeral fractures present a therapeutic challenge to trauma. These fractures are in the majority of joint cases and can be accompanied by loss of substance, which makes their functional prognosis random despite the application of the main therapeutic principles: exact reduction with possible bone graft;stable osteosynthesis, usually allowing early rehabilitation. This work focused on identifying therapeutic aspects and assessing treatment outcomes. Material and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study of patients with a fracture of the humeral palette from January 2015 to December 2019 at the Orthopaedic Trauma Department CHU Gabriel Touré Bamako. Results: We collected 35 cases of fractures of the humeral palette. The average age was 39.25 years with extremes of 22 and 74 years. The male gender predominated (71.4%) with a sex ratio of 2.5. Etiologies were dominated by falls with 19 cases (54.3%) and stroke with 13 cases (37.1%). The standard X-ray of the face and profile of the elbow was performed in all our patients. The most frequent types of anatomoradiology were supra condylar fractures type A in 16 cases (45.7%), supra and inter condylar fractures type C in 15 cases (42.9%);4 cases of uni condylar fractures type B (11.4%). Associated lesions were observed in 42.85%. Surgical treatment was performed in 80% of cases. Complications were dominated by elbow stiffness in 18 cases (51.42%), secondary displacement in 5 cases (14.28%), ossifications in 4 cases (11.42%). At an average decrease of 3.2 years our results were considered good in 45.7%. Conclusion: Fractures of the humeral palette are relatively common with associated lesions. The complexity of the fracture with associated lesions makes treatment difficult with unpredictable evolution.

Introduction: Acute intestinal obstruction is a serious pathology, a surgical emergency for which medical imaging plays an important role in the management. We initiated this work in order to study the contribution of imaging in the diagnosis of acute intestinal obstruction at the Point-G University Hospital. Patients and Methods: This was a prospective, descriptive and analytical study of 96 patients collected at the radiology and medical imaging department of CHU Point-G from January 2018 to January 2019. Results: The age of our patients varied from 11 to 86 years, with an average of 36 years old. There was a male predominance of 64.6% against 35.4% for women, i.e., a sex ratio of 1.82. Previous surgery was found in 61.5% of our patients. The pain was present in all patients. An unprepared abdominal X-ray was performed in 89.6% of patients. Hydroaerobic levels were found in 96.5% of patients. Abdominopelvic CT scans were performed on 12 patients, all of whom were diagnosed with occlusion. These positive diagnostic findings were consistent with intraoperative findings in 92% of cases. The causes were dominated by bridges in 46 patients and tumors in 9 patients. Signs of severity on CT were dominated by signs of distress of the upstream bile ducts in 8.3%. Exactly 8% of our patients spontaneously resumed transit, 91% received surgical treatment and 1% died before surgery. The outcome was favorable in 80 patients (83.3%) and poor with death in 16 patients (16.7%). Conclusion: Acute intestinal obstruction remains a serious pathology for which the X-ray of the PSA is often the only radiological examination performed in an emergency. However, abdominopelvic CT seems to us to be widely indicated thanks to its contribution both to the positive diagnosis and to the diagnosis of severity and etiology. However, this imaging technique is widely underused in our practice because of its high cost and lack of availability.

This study aims to estimate the hydrodynamic properties of soils under various agricultural practices in the Tougou catchment in northern Burkina Faso. The methodology adopted is based on the determination of the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity and capillary sorptivity close to saturation. This method relies on the measurement of the transient infiltration flux at the soil surface with imposed hydraulic head varying from -60 to -20 mm. These tests are carried out on control, stony line, half-moon and zai plots. The results show a difference in hydrodynamic parameters according to the agricultural practices. The unsaturated hydraulic conductivity is 33.1 cm/h, 13.1 cm/h, 20.3 cm/h and 4.0 cm/h for zai, control, stony line and half-moon plots respectively. The pores participating to water transfer also differ. The mean size of drainable pores is 43.7, 56.2, 22.3 and 87.2 pm on control, stony line, half-moon and zai plots respectively.

The purpose of this study is to experimentally analyze the thermal behavior of the walls of a prototype experimental house. A Datalogger and thermocouples were used on the experimental house to determine the temperatures of the exterior and interior walls. Also, “MSR” type HygroPuce was used to determine the exterior and interior temperatures and relative humidity of the habitat. The results show that a wall made of bio-based materials with a mixture of “earth + Hibiscus cannabinus L. fibers” allows reducing the fluctuations of the interior temperatures. We observe the peaks of temperatures on the external walls at 11:00 am and for the interior walls, the peaks are observed at 5:00 pm. The maximum thermal phase shift between the peaks of the external and internal temperatures is about 7.5 hours, and the maximum damping factor is 0.9. Also, we note that the thermal performance of the material used in the design of the envelope of the house is determined by the improvement of the response of the envelope in front of the external thermal solicitations.

This work focuses on blending Jatropha oil with diesel fuel and heptane to improve its physico-chemical characteristics for production of blends and their use as fuel in a diesel engine. The influence of the heptane content was evaluated by comparing the results obtained from the engine (performance and combustion parameters) with those of the diesel fuel and straight Jatropha oil. The results obtained show an improvement in engine performance especially at low loads. Specifically, a reduction in the specific fuel consumption of the engine is obtained when the heptane content in the mixture is around 10% compared to that obtained with pure Jatropha oil. The best results were obtained with the blend containing 70% Jatropha oil, 20% diesel fuel and 10% heptane (J70G20H10). Overall engine efficiency and exhaust gas temperatures are comparable for all fuels tested. Engine combustion parameters are improved with J70G20H10. The results obtained with J70G20H10 are close to those of the engine operating on diesel fuel. The cyclic dispersion is low with coefficients of variation of the indicated mean effective pressure (COVIMEP) whose values are less than 10%. The lowest values of the COVIMEP are obtained with the blend J70G20H10.

Introduction: Hypertension (HTN) is for many decades a worldwide major risk factor for cardiovascular ***, hypertension control rates are globally low in the world. Studies on observance have been published in Mali but there is to our knowledge no published data about HTN control rate. We therefore conducted this study to assess the control rate in short term after 3 months management and to look for factors associated with HTN control. Materials and Methods: This study designed as prospective was conducted in the cardiology department of the University Hospital Gabriel Touré (UH-GT) from March 24 to September 24, 2017. All outpatients aged 18 years and more who came for visit and with hypertension as diagnose were involved. All patients have consented to participate in the study. Sociodemographic and data on physical examination including measures for BP, height, weight, waist circumference (WC) and direct costs as reported by the patients were recorded. Patients were asked about medication discontinuation and if yes why and then they were informed about the need to take regularly medication. The concept of chronic disease was explained to them. A formulary served to collect data that were inserted into a Microsoft Access database and analyzed using SPSS version 18. After describing of sociodemographics and continuous variables, crosstabs and finally a logistic regression was performed to look for blood pressure control predictors. Results: There was no statistical difference in sociodemographics between older and newly diagnosed patients. At 3 months globally 40.90% (31.1 for old Patients and 09.8% for newPatients) of the sample were controlled (Figure 1). For old patients, hypertension control rate at inclusion was 12.78% and reached 49.44% at 3 months (Figure 2). We report details of our ab-initio, self-consistent density functional theory (DFT) calculations of electronic and related properties of wurtzite beryllium oxide (w-BeO). Our calculations were performed using a local density approximation (LDA) potential and the linear combination of atomic orbitals (LCAO) formalism. Unlike previous DFT studies of BeO, the implementation of the Bagayoko, Zhao, and Williams (BZW) method, as enhanced by the work of Ekuma and Franklin (BZW-EF), ensures the full physical content of the results of our calculations, as per the derivation of DFT. We present our computed band gap, total and partial densities of states, and effective masses. Our direct band gap of 10.30 eV, reached by using the experimental lattice constants of a = 2.6979 Åand c = 4.3772 Åat room temperature, agrees very well the experimental values of 10.28 eV and 10.3 eV. The hybridization of O and Be p states in the upper valence bands, as per our calculated, partial densities of states, are in agreement with corresponding, experimental findings.
