Utilizing bimetallic catalysts to mitigate coke formation in dry reforming of methane

dry reforming of methane(dRM) involves the conversion of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) and methane(CH_(4)) into syngas(a mixture of hydrogen, H_(2), and carbon monoxide, CO), which can then be used to produce a wide range of products by means of Fischer–Tropsch synthesis. dRM has gained much attention as a means of mitigating damage from anthropogenic greenhouse gas(GHGs) emissions to the environment and instead utilizing these gases as precursors for value-added chemicals or to synthesize sustainable fuels and chemicals. Carbon deposition or coke formation, a primary cause of catalyst deactivation, has proven to be a major challenge in the development of dRM catalysts. The use of nickel-and cobalt-based catalysts has been extensively explored for dRM for their high activity and low cost but suffer from poor stability due to coke formation that has hindered their commercialization. Numerous articles have reviewed the various aspects of catalyst deactivation and strategies for mitigation, but few has focused on the benefit of bimetallic catalysts for mitigating coke formation. Bimetallic catalysts, often improve the catalytic stability over their monometallic counterparts due to synergistic effects resulting from two metal-tometal interactions. This review will cover dRM literature for various bimetallic catalyst systems, including the effect of supports and promoters, on the mitigation of carbonaceous deactivation.

Hierarchically porous materials have attracted growing interest due to their great potential in catalysis,separation,and biomedical systems[1–6].Tremendous efforts have been devoted to the rational design and synthesis of advanced porous materials with fascinating synergetic properties or multifunctions originating from their special porous structures[7–13].Generally,hierarchical porous structures can be created through hard or soft templates,or combination of soft and hard templates[14,15].However,disadvantages related to high cost or tedious synthetic steps have been impeding the scale-up of these synthesis routes for practical applications.

Production of’renewable Methane’has attracted renewed research interest as a fundamental probe reaction and process for CO_(2)utilization through potential use in Cl fuel production and even for future space exploration ***_(2)methanation is a structure sensitive reaction on Ni/CeO_(2)*** precisely elucidate the size effect of the Ni metal center on the CO_(2)methanation performance,we prepared2%Ni/CeO_(2)catalysts with pre-synthesized uniform Ni particles(2,4 and 8 nm)on a high surface area CeO_(2)*** electron microscopy(TEM)and ambient pressure X-ray photo spectroscopy(AP-XPS)characterization have confirmed that the catalyst structure and chemical state was uniform and stable under reaction *** 8 nm sized catalyst showed superior methanation selectivity over the 4 and 2 nm counterparts,and the methanation activity in term of TOF is 10 times and 70 times higher than for the 4 and 2 nm counterparts,*** dRIFTS studies revealed that the larger Ni(8 nm particles)over CeO_(2)efficiently facilitated the hydrogenation of the surface formate intermediates,which is proposed as the rate determining step accounting for the excellent CO_(2)methanation performance.

A wet chemistry synthesis of Pt-Ce doped catalysts on carbon Vulcan support using an impregnation method with EdTA is presented. The composite catalyst was characterized by XRd, XPS and TEM. The catalytic activity of the prepared material was tested in a direct fuel cell using methanol, ethanol and hydrogen as fuels. The polarization and power curves showed that the Vulcan/Pt/Ce(III) doped catalysts improved the performance of the fuel cells when compared with Vulcan-Pt anode materials.

Historic maps showing the temporal distribution of rice fields are important for precision agriculture,irrigation optimisation,forecasting crop yields,land use management and formulating ***,mapping rice felds using traditional ground surveys is impractical when high cost,time and labour requirements are considered,and the availability of such detailed records is *** satellite remote sensing appears to be a viable solution,conventional segmentation and classification methods with spectral bands are often unable to contrast the distinct characteristics between rice fields and other vegetation *** this end,we explored a novel,Google Earth Engine(GEE)based multiindex random forest(RF)classification approach to map rice fields over two *** images from 2000 to 2020 of two Sri Lankan rice cultivation districts were extracted from GEE and a multi-index RF classification algorithm was applied to distinguish the rice *** results showed above 80%accuracy for both training and validation,when compared against high spatial resolution Google Earth *** essence,multi-index sampling and RF together synergised the compelling classifcation accuracy by effectively capturing vegetation,water(ponding)and soil characteristics unique to the rice felds using a single-click *** maps developed in this study were further compared against the MOdIS land cover type product(MCd12Q1)and the corresponding superior statistics on rice fields demonstrated the robustness of the proposed *** work seeking effective index combinations is recommended,and this approach can potentially be extended to other crop analyses elsewhere.

BACKGROUNd Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLd),formally known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease,is the most common chronic liver disease in the United *** with MASLd have been reported to be at a higher risk of developing severe coronavirus disease 2019(COVId-19)and ***,most studies are single-center studies,and nationwide data in the AIM To study the influence of MASLd on COVId-19 hospitalizations during the initial phase of the *** We retrospectively analyzed the 2020 National Inpatient Sample(NIS)database to identify primary COVId-19 hospitalizations based on an underlying diagnosis of MASLd.A matched comparison cohort of COVId-19 hospit-alizations without MASLd was identified from NIS after 1:N propensity score matching based on gender,race,and comorbidities,including hypertension,heart failure,diabetes,and *** primary outcomes included inpatient mortality,length of stay,and hospitalization *** outcomes included the prevalence of systemic *** A total of 2210 hospitalizations with MASLd were matched to 2210 hospitalizations without MASLd,with a good comorbidity ***,there was a higher prevalence of severe disease with more intensive care unit admissions(9.5%vs 7.2%,P=0.007),mechanical ventilation(7.2%vs 5.7%,P=0.03),and septic shock(5.2%vs 2.7%,Pd cohort than in the non-MASLd ***,there was no difference in mortality(8.6%vs 10%,P=0.49),length of stay(5 d vs 5 d,P=0.25),and hospitalization costs(42081.5$vs 38614$,P=0.15)between the MASLd and non-MASLd *** The presence of MAFLd with or without liver cirrhosis was not associated with increased mortality in COVId-19 hospitalizations;however,there was an increased incidence of severe COVId-19 *** data(2020)predates the availability of COVId-19 vaccines,and many MASLd patients have since been *** will be interesting to see if these trends are

Improved Leap-frog Method for Time-domain Fault Location

The partial differential equation(PdE)solution of the telegrapher is a promising fault location method among time-domain and model-based *** research works have shown that the leap-frog process is superior to other explicit methods for the PdE ***,its implementation is challenged by determining the initial conditions in time and the boundary conditions in *** letter proposes two implicit solution methods for determining the initial conditions and an analytical way to obtain the boundary conditions founded on the signal *** results show that the proposal gives fault location accuracy superior to the existing leap-frog scheme,particularly in the presence of harmonics.
