Characteristics of greenhouse gas emissions from rice paddy fields in South Korea under climate change scenario RCP-8.5 using the DNDC model

Understanding the greenhouse gas(GHG)emission from rice paddy fields is essential to come up with appropriate countermeasure in response to global ***,GHG emissions from paddy fields in South Korea are not well *** objectives of this study were to estimate the carbon dioxide(CO_(2))and methane(CH_(4))emissions from rice paddy fields in South Korea,under the Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5(RCP-8.5)climate change scenario using the DNDC(i.e.,DeNitrification-DeComposition)model at 1-km^(2)*** performance of the model was verified with field data collected using a closed chamber,which supports the application of the model to South *** the model predictions and field measurements showed that most(>95%)GHG emissions occur in the cropping period,between April and *** a baseline(assuming no climate change),the national sums of the CO_(2)and CH_(4)emissions for the 2020 s and 2090 s were estimated to be 5.8×10^(6)and 6.0×10^(6)t CO_(2)-equivalents(CO_(2)-eq)year^(-1)for CO_(2)and 6.4×10^(6)and 6.6×10^(6)t CO_(2)-eq year^(-1)for CH_(4),respectively,indicating no significant changes over 80 *** RCP-8.5,in the 2090 s,CH_(4)emissions were predicted to increase by 10.7×10^(6)and 14.9×10^(6)t CO_(2)-eq year^(-1),for a 10-or 30-cm tillage depth,***,the CO_(2)emissions gradually decreased with rising temperatures,due to reduced root *** tillage increased the emissions of both GHGs,with a more pronounced effect for CH_(4)than CO_(2).Intermittent drainage in the middle of the cropping season can attenuate the CH_(4)emissions from paddy *** findings of this work will aid in developing nationwide policies on agricultural land management in the face of climate change.

AIM： To compare small sphincterotomy combined with endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation （SES ＋ ELBD） and endoscopic sphincterotomy （EST） for large bile duct stones. METHODS： We compared prospectively SES ＋ ELBD （group A, n = 27） with conventional EST （group B, n = 28） for the treatment of large bile duct stones （≥ 15 mm）. When the stone could not be removed with a normal basket, mechanical lithotripsy was performed. We compared the rates of complete stone removal with one session and application of mechanical lithotripsy. RESULTS： No significant differences were observed in the mean largest stone size （A： 20.8 mm, B： 21.3 mm）, bile duct diameter （A： 21.4 turn, B： 20.5 ram）, number of stones （A： 2.2, B： 2.3）, or procedure time （A： 18 min, B： 19 rain） between the two groups. The rates of complete stone removal with one session was 85% in group A and 86% in group B （P = 0.473）. Mechanical lithotripsy was required for stone removal in nine of 27 patients （33%） in group A and nine of 28 patients （32%, P = 0.527） in group ***： SES ＋ ELBD did not show significant benefits compared to conventional EST, especially for the removal of large （≥ 15 mm） bile duct stones.

Sorafenib,a multitargeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor,has been shown to improve survival in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).As the clinical use of sorafenib increases,many adverse effects have been reported,such as hand-foot skin reaction,diarrhea,anorexia,asthenia,alopecia,weight loss,hypertension and arterial ***,there are no prior reports of splenic infarction as an adverse effect of ***,a case of splenic infarction in a patient with HCC who was treated with sorafenib is reported. The patient had no other predisposing factors to explain the splenic infarction except for the administration of *** splenic infarction improved after sorafenib was discontinued;however,the HCC progressed.

BACKGROUND Cytomegalovirus(CMV) enterocolitis presenting in the form of pancolitis or involving the small and large intestines in an immunocompetent patient is rarely encountered, and CMV enterocolitis presenting with a serious complication, such as toxic megacolon, in an immunocompetent adult has only been reported on a few *** SUMMARY We describe the case of a 70-year-old male with no history of inflammatory bowel disease or immunodeficiency who presented with toxic megacolon and subsequently developed massive hemorrhage as a complication of CMV ileopancolitis. The patient was referred to our institute for abdominal pain and distension. Abdominal X-ray showed marked dilatation of ileum and whole colon without air-fluid level, and sigmoidoscopy with biopsy failed to reveal any specific finding. After 7 d of conservative treatment, massive hematochezia developed, and he was diagnosed to have CMV enterocolitis by colonoscopy with biopsy. Although the diagnosis of CMV enterocolitis was delayed, the patient was treated successfully by repeat colonoscopic decompression and antiviral therapy with intravenous *** This report cautions that CMV-induced colitis should be considered as a possible differential diagnosis in a patient with intractable symptoms of enterocolitis or megacolon of unknown cause, even when the patient is nonimmunocompromised.

Generally the gold investment material consists of cristobalite,quartz and *** physical property of gold investment materials depends on its thermal expansion coefficients,compressive strength,and particles size *** the thermal expansion coefficient of cristobalite and quartz are 2.6×10^-6/℃and 2.32×10^-6/℃respectively,the composition ratio of each components influence the thermal and physical properties of gold investment *** the clinical applications,it is necessary to improve the properties of gold investment materials such as homogeneous size distribution and thermal expansion *** the present study,effect of inorganic fillers such as cristobalite and quartz on gold alloy investment was investigated to improve the properties of *** compressive strength and thermal expansion coefficients of the specimens were *** results showed that cristobalite and quartz were homogeneously distributed by milling. Pb contamination in aquatic environments causes severe pollution;therefore,harmless absorbents are *** this study,we report a novel synthesis of whitlockite(WH,Ca_(18)Mg_(2)(HPO_(4))_(2)(PO_(4))_(12)),which is the second most abundant biomineral in human bone,and its application as a high-performing Pb^(2+)***(HAP)and WH are prepared via a simple precipitation *** Pb2+absorption performance and mechanism of the synthesized biominerals are investigated in aqueous solutions at neutral *** results demonstrate that WH exhibits an excellent Pb2+absorption capacity of 2339 mg g^(−1),which is 1.68 times higher than the recorded value for ***,the absorbed Pb^(2+) ions are recycled into high-purity PbI_(2).This is employed as a precursor for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells(PSCs),resulting in a conversion efficiency of 19.00%comparable to that of commercial PbI2 powder(99.99%purity).Our approach provides an efficient way to remove Pb^(2+)ions from water and reuse them in the recycling of PSCs.
