This study presents a comprehensive overview of the atmospheric pollutants including Sulfur dioxide(SO_(2)),Nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2)),Formaldehyde(HCHO),Particulate Matter PM;PM_(10):diameter≤10μm,and PM_(2.5):diameter≤2.5μm,and Ozone(O_(3)),over Dongying(Shandong Province)from March-April 2018 and September-October 2019 by employing ground-based Multiple Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy(MAX-DOAS)observations along with the in-situ measurements attained by the national air quality monitoring *** concentrations of SO_(2)and NO_(2)were under the acceptable level,while both PM_(2.5),and PM_(10)were higher than the safe levels as prescribed by national and international air quality *** results depict that 21%of the total observation days were found to be complex polluted days(PM_(2.5)>35μg/m^(3) and O_(3)>160μg/m^(3)).The secondary HCHO was used for accurate analysis of O_(3)sensitivity.A difference of 11.40%and 10%during March-April 2018 and September-October 2019 respectively in O_(3)sensitivity was found between HCHO_(total)/NO_(2)and HCHO_(sec)/NO_(2).The results indicate that primary HCHO have significant contribution in HCHO.O_(3)formation predominantly remained to be in VOC-limited and transitional regime during March-April 2018 and September-October 2019 in *** results imply that concurrent control of both NO_(x) and VOCs would benefit in ozone ***,the criteria pollutants(PM,SO_(2),and NO_(2))depicted strong correlations with each other except for O_(3)for which weak correlation coefficient was obtained with all the *** study will prove to be baseline for designing of air pollution control strategies.

Potential of triptolide in reproductive management of the house rat,Rattus rattus

Mature and healthy male house rats,Rattus rattus(n=160)were fed on bait(cracked wheat:powdered sugar,98:2)containing different concentrations of triptolide(0.1,0.05,0.025 and 0%)for 7 and 14 days in no-choice and bi-choice feeding tests in the *** objective of the study was to record the antifertility affects of triptolide after 30 and 60 days of termination of *** revealed no significant effect of triptolide treatment on weights of testis,epididymis,seminal vesicles and prostate gland of ***,sperm motility,live sperm count,sperm density and sperm morphology in the cauda epididymal fluid were found to differ significantly(P≤0.05)between untreated and treated groups of *** major effect of triptolide on sperm morphology was in the form of sperm head tail separation,which was up to 56.0%in rats treated for 14 days in no-choice and autopsied after 30 days.A significant effect(P≤0.05)of triptolide treatment was observed on the histomorphology of the testis,which included a dose-dependent decrease in diameter of seminiferous tubules,thickness of germinal epithelium and numbers of various spermatogenic *** associations in the seminiferous epithelial cycle were poorly developed in rats ingesting medium(4.7-5.1 mg/100 g bw)and high doses(6.9-7.2 mg/100 g bw)of triptolide than rats ingesting low doses(1.8-2.3 mg/100 g bw)and untreated *** cell stages affected had not recovered fully within the 60 day period following triptolide *** present study suggests the potential of triptolide in reproductive management of Rattus rattus.

Short-term impacts of biochar and manure application on soil labile carbon fractions,enzyme activity,and microbial community structure

Biochar is known to ameliorate soil fertility and increase crop yield;however,information regarding its effects on soil chemical and biological properties remains *** experiment was conducted to study the short-term impacts of dif-ferent types of biochar on soil C fractions,enzyme activities,and microbial community structure at depositional and eroded landscape positions at different sampling times[before planting,after planting,and after harvesting of soybean(glycine max L.)].Three biochar materials,produced from C-optimized gasification of corn(maize,Zea mays L.)stover(CS),pon-derosa pine(Pinus ponderosa Lawson and ***)wood residue(PW),and switchgrass(Panicum virgatum L.)(Sg),and dairy manure(DM)and mixture of dairy manure and pinewood biochar(DMP),were applied at a rate of 10 Mg ha^(−1) to depositional and eroded landscape *** showed that the application of DMP and sole application of DM treat-ments significantly increased the labile C fractions at the depositional and eroded *** addition of DM and DMP increased the activities ofβ-glucosidase and urease enzymes,and those are involved in C and nitrogen cycling at depositional and eroded landscape *** were no significant differences between different biochar ***,there was an increase in soil microbial community structure in the DM and DMP treatments at both the landscape *** conclusion,our study revealed that DMP and sole application of DM influenced the soil labile C pool,enzyme activities,and microbial community structure at both the landscape positions for different sampling times.

Capturing the interaction types of two Bt toxins CrylAc and Cry2Ab on suppressing the cotton bollworm by using multi-exponential equations

Transgenic crops are increasingly promoted for their practical effects on suppressing certain insect pests, but all transgenic crops are not equally successful. The insect pests can easily develop resistance against single Bacillus thuringiensis （Bt） toxin trans- genic crops. Therefore, transgenic crops including two or more mixed Bt-toxins can solve this problem by delaying the resistance development and killing the majority of targeted pests before the evolution of resistance. It is important to test the controlling effects of transgenic crops including multiple mixed toxins on a particular insect pest. Previous research has checked the cross-resistance and interactions between Bt toxins CrylAc and Cry2Ab against one susceptible and four resistant strains of cotton bollworm. The results showed that independence was the main interaction type between two toxins for the susceptible strain, whereas synergism was the main interaction type for any one resistant strain. However, the optimal combinations of two toxins were not obtained. In the present study, we developed two multi-exponential equations （namely bi- and tri-exponential equations） to describe the combination effects of two Bt toxins. Importantly, the equations can provide predictions of combination effects of different continuous concentrations of two toxins. We compared these two multi-exponential equations with the generalized linear model （gLM） in describing the combination effects, and found that the bi- and tri-exponential equations are better than gLM. Moreover, the bi-exponential equation can also provide the optimal dose combinations for two toxins.

Fusarium oxysporum ***. ciceris (Foc) is one of the most important fungal pathogens of chickpea and is regarded as a constant threat in tropical and subtropical countries. In order to correlate Fusarium wilt resistance/susceptibility in Cicer arietinum to the presence or absence of trypsin inhibitor (TI) in the crude extract, trypsin inhibitory assay (TIA) and in vitro activity of TI against Foc were studied. In the present study, a 20 kDa trypsin inhibitor was purified from Fusarium wilt resistant cultivar (viz. Jg 2001-12) by ammonium sulfate precipitation, dialysis and chromatographies with Sephadex g-100 and Diethyl aminoethyl cellulose (DEAE-cellulose-52) ion-exchange column. Results of pathogenecity assay were found to be in correlation to the trypsin inhibitor assay where the Fusarium wilt resistant cultivar showed high trypsin inhibitory activity (99%) in the presence of trypsin enzyme using both natural and synthetic substrates. Preliminary studies using crude extracts of Jg 2001-12 showed a decrease in radial growth of Foc. A 45%-82% reduction in conidium germination at 20 μg·mL-1?Cicer arietinum trypsin inhibitor (CaTI) concentration was observed, thereby, indicating the use of CaTI in suppression of pathogen and in its deployment through transgenic plants for the management of Fusarium wilt.

Primary biliary cirrhosis in India

BACkgROUND: Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is a rare cause of chronic liver disease in India. We analyzed the clinical, biochemical, serological and histological features of patients with PBC for over a 10-year period. METHODS: PBC was diagnosed by the presence of raised level of serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP), anti-mitochondrial antibody (AMA) positivity (1:40 dilution), and/or diagnostic liver histology. RESULTS:Fifteen female patients with mean age of 46.5±11 years were studied. Pruritis (80%) followed by jaundice (67%), skin changes (pigmentation, coarsening, xanthelesma and vitiligo) (67%) and fatigue (60%) were common symptoms. The mean duration of the symptoms was 3.5± 5.4 years (3 months to 20 years). Dryness of eyes was observed in only 2 patients. Hepatomegaly was noted in 87% of the patients and ascites at presentation in 40%. Mean levels of bilirubin and albumin at the time of diagnosis were 3.4±3.3 mg/dl and 3.5±0.8 g/dl, respectively. The level of serum ALP ranged from 54 to 2400 IU/L, with a median being 552 IU/L (2×ULN). In all the 15 patients with AMA positive, 8(53%) were also positive for either anti-nuclear or anti-smooth muscle antibodies. Two patients presented with persistently elevated SAP after an acute hepatitic illness. Liver biopsy was available in 13 patients, diagnostic of PBC Ⅱ & Ⅲ(8) and with evidence of cirrhosis (5). Associated autoimmune disorders were observed in 5 patients (33%). The mean time for follow-up was 26±21 months (1 to 87 months). In 4 deaths, 3 were due to liver related causes. CONCLUSION: PBC is a rare cause of chronic liver disease in India. PBC in India, unlike in the West, presents late, often with features of cirrhosis and decompensation.

去除金刚石表面层的可靠方法,对于微电子学及诸如金刚石表面抛光处理等应用领域来说都是极其重要的。我们的初步研究结果是,用O_2和H_2的反应离子蚀刻,可使碳薄膜的蚀刻速率达560(?)/min左右;用300eV氧离子进行天然Ⅱ—A型金刚石蚀刻可获得350(?)/min的蚀刻速率。此外,对反应室内的氧加入一定百分比的Ar并不影响蚀刻速率。
