Assessing gully erosion and rehabilitation using multi temporal LiDAR DEMs:Case study from the Great Barrier Reef catchments,Australia

Millions of dollars are being spent on gully rehabilitation to help reduce excess fine sediment delivery to the Great Barrier Reef(GBR).There is an urgent need for(i)prioritisation of active gullies for rehabilitation and(ii)the development of methodologies to inform the effectiveness of *** this study we analyse DEMs of Difference derived from 0.5 m resolution 2-3 year interval multi-temporal LiDAR data collected pre and post rehabilitation at three variable gully morphologies in the Burdekin *** analysis indicates that the highest annual average fine sediment erosion rates for the untreated control gullies occur at the linear gully(53.38 t ha^(-1)y^(-1))followed by linear-alluvial gully(34.24 t ha^(-1)y^(-1))and least at the alluvial gully(14.41 t ha^(-1)y^(-1)).The proportional loss or export of fine sediment from the gullies in their un-treated condition ranges from∼68 to 90%of what is eroded,and when the gullies are treated the proportion of fine sediment that is retained in the gully proportional to what is eroded increases to∼60%at all *** pre-treatment baseline erosion rates,and additional post treatment LiDAR captures,it is difficult to quantify the treatment *** results offer insights in the erosion mechanisms within different geomorphic gully morphologies and rehabilitation effects in these erosional *** study provides crucial knowledge of gully dynamics that can be coupled with other lines of evidence for better prioritisation of rehabilitation in the GBR catchments.

Daley et al.(2023a)argue that at least 10-15 years apart Digital Elevation Model(DEM)derived DEMs of Difference(DoD)surveys are needed to detect reliable geomorphic change within the gullied landscapes of the Great Barrier Reef,*** acknowledge that the reliability of observed geomorphic change increases as more subtle geomorphic processes are detected with longer monitoring *** further good quality long-term legacy datasets become available,we encourage utilising these to improve confidence in targeting erosion ***,our approach to consistently apply 2-3 year DoDs to contrasting gully morphologies enabled capture of more intense geomorphic processes acting over shorter timeframes and provided valuable and timely information on(i)contrasting erosional mechanisms and erosion rates between variable gully morphologies,and(ii)rehabilitation efforts *** this paper,we take the opportunity to concisely address all the concerns raised by Daley et al.(2023a).

This study was to determine whether GM-CSF induced WT1 gene expression and to establish an association with markers of proliferation CD71+CD34+ using nPCR and flow cytometry respectively, in samples obtained from 5 newly diagnosed JMML patients. Overtime (day 0 to day 14) there was an insignificant difference in WT1 gene expression and CD71+CD34+ in JMML samples when compared to peripheral blood of normal volunteers (n = 3). Our study suggests that there is a correlation between WT1 gene expression and cellular proliferation and that GMCSF in vitro does not create a significant difference in JMML samples.

Correlation of umbilical cord blood pH,base deficit,and lactate levels with outcomes of hypoxic newborns:A prospective study

Objective:To determine the association of the three umbilical cord blood parameters:umbilical cord pH,base deficit,and lactate levels,with neonatal ***:This prospective observational study was conducted from April 2021 to September 2022 with 100 term and late preterm(>35 weeks)neonates whose umbilical cord blood pH was0.999)between neonates with Apgar scores 4-7 at 1 min and neonates with Apgar scores<4,but lactate level was significantly higher in neonates with Apgar scores<4 at 1 min(P<0.001).Conclusions:Umbilical cord blood pH,base deficit,and lactate levels are useful novel markers showing a significant correlation with neonatal intensive care unit admission and adverse neonatal morbidities among hypoxic ***,lactate was a better predictor of adverse neonatal outcomes as compared to umbilical cord blood pH and base deficit.

Characterization of the Causal Organism of Soft Rot of Tomatoes and Other Vegetables and Evaluation of Its Most Aggressive Isolates

To isolate the causal organism of soft rot of vegetables, diseased samples of potato, tomato, carrot, chilies, and bell pepper, were analyzed in the lab, using nutrient agar (NA) and/or the enrichment host (Bell pepper) technique. Successful isolations were purified by sub-culturing, identified as Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora through biochemical tests and their pathogenicity was confirmed through inoculation on green tomato fruits. The isolates were tested for their aggressiveness to find out the most aggressive one in term of producing maximum soft rot on tomatoes. CRD (completely randomized design), with four replication was used and data were analyzed using LSD (least significant test) test. Among the five isolates evaluated for aggressiveness on tomato fruits, chili isolate was found to be the most aggressive followed by tomato and potato isolates producing 22.3 mm, 7.9 mm, and 7.8 mm diameter soft rot lesions, respectively.

This study finds out seasonal and monthly variations in Aerosol Optical Depth(AOD)over eastern and western routes of China Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC)and the relationship between AOD and meteorological parameters(i.e.,temperature,rainfall and wind speed).The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)and Multi-angle Imaging Spectroradiometer(MISR)data was used from the terra satellite for the period of *** study aims to overtake the conventional view of the purpose of using the satellite *** study takes on to the concept that validated satellite data sets rather should be used for the analysis instead of just validation specifically for our study ***,after comparing MODIS AOD with MISR AOD,only MISR AOD dataset is used for further *** results show a decreasing trend of AOD in summer season,a positive relationship between temperature and AOD during winter and spring seasons whereas a positive relationship between wind speed and AOD in winter and spring seasons over eastern and western *** analysis of MODIS AOD and MISR AOD depicts May-Aug as the peak period of aerosol concentration over central *** inter-annual analysis shows the aerosol trend remained higher during summer season however rainfall shows the washout *** route has higher standard deviation and larger values for aerosol prevalence as compared to western *** trajectory analysis using the HYSPLIT model suggests the bias of air mass trajectory caused deviation in the aerosol trend in the year 2014.

Vehicular Ad hoc Networks(VANETs) are special kind of Mobile Ad hoc Networks(MANETs),where vehicles communicate with each other in ad hoc formation. VANETs consist of Vehicles and Road Side Units(RSUs) that assist in the network management. Vehicles communicate with each other and RSUs, with the aim to provide infotainment and safety services on road. Security is an important consideration in VANETs as safety of humans(passengers) is an important issue. Vehicular Public Key Infrastructure(VPKI) is an adapted form of Public Key Infrastructure(PKI) used to achieve the key management and security services in *** generation and revocation is one of the primary functions of VPKI. Certificate revocation is used for revoking the malicious nodes and terminate their access rights to the network. In this paper we classify revocation schemes in a novel way into centralized and decentralized manners. This paper covers a survey of different certificate revocation schemes, and provides an overview of the research in the area of certificate revocation in VANETs.
