Vagus nerve stimulation is a potential treatment for ischemic stroke

Microglia are the brain’s primary innate immune cells,and they are activated and affect pro-inflammatory phenotype or regulatory phenotype after ischemic *** nerve stimulation was shown to activate microglial phenotypic changes and exhibit neuroprotective effects in ischemia/reperfusion *** this study,we established rat models of ischemic stroke by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery and performed vagus nerve stimulation 30 minutes after *** found that vagus nerve stimulation caused a shift from a pro-inflammatory phenotype to a regulatory phenotype in microglia in the ischemic *** nerve stimulation decreased the levels of pro-inflammatory phenotype markers inducible nitric oxide synthase and tumor necrosis factorαand increased the expression of regulatory phenotype markers arginase 1 and transforming growth factorβthrough activatingα7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor ***,α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor blockade reduced the inhibition of Toll-like receptor 4/nuclear factor kappa-B pathwayassociated proteins,including Toll-like receptor 4,myeloid differentiation factor 88,I kappa B alpha,and phosphorylated-I kappa B alpha,and also weakened the neuroprotective effects of vagus nerve stimulation in ischemic *** nerve stimulation inhibited Toll-like receptor 4/nuclear factor kappa-B expression through activatingα7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and regulated microglial polarization after ischemic stroke,thereby playing a role in the treatment of ischemic *** from this study confirm the mechanism underlying vagus nerve stimulation against ischemic stroke.

An observer-based adaptive backstepping boundary control is proposed for vibration control of flexible offshore riser systems with unknown nonlinear input dead zone and uncertain environmental *** control algorithm can update the control law online through real-time data to make the controller adapt to the environment and improve the control ***,based on the adaptive backstepping framework,virtual control laws and Lyapunov functions are designed for each *** direction interference observers are designed to track the timevarying boundary *** this basis,the inverse of the dead zone and linear state transformation are used to compensate for the original system and eliminate the adverse effects of the dead *** addition,the stability of the closed-loop system is proven by Lyapunov stability *** the system states are bounded,and the vibration offset of the riser converges to a small area of the initial ***,four examples of flexible marine risers are simulated in MATLAB to verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

Explosion resistance performance of reinforced concrete box girder coated with polyurea:Model test and numerical simulation

To study the anti-explosion protection effect of polyurea coating on reinforced concrete box girder,two segmental girder specimens were made at a scale of 1:3,numbered as G(without polyurea coating)and PCG(with polyurea coating).The failure characteristics and dynamic responses of the specimens were compared through conducting explosion *** reliability of the numerical simulation using LS-DYNA software was verified by the test *** effects of different scaled distances,reinforcement ratios,concrete strengths,coating thicknesses and ranges of polyurea were *** results show that the polyurea coating can effectively enhance the anti-explosion performance of the *** top plate of middle chamber in specimen G forms an elliptical penetrating hole,while that in specimen PCG only shows a very slight local *** peak vertical displacement and residual displacement of PCG decrease by 74.8% and 73.7%,respectively,compared with those of specimen *** the TNT explosion with small equivalent,the polyurea coating has a more significant protective effect on reducing the size of *** the increase of TNT equivalent,the protective effect of polyurea on reducing girder displacement becomes more *** optimal reinforcement ratio,concrete strength,thickness and range of polyurea coating were also drawn.

Glutamatergic projection neurons generate sophisticated excitatory circuits to integrate and transmit information among different cortical areas,and between the neocortex and other regions of the brain and spinal *** development of cortical projection neurons is regulated by certain essential events such as neural fate determination,proliferation,specification,differentiation,migration,survival,axonogenesis,and *** processes are precisely regulated in a tempo-spatial manner by intrinsic factors,extrinsic signals,and neural *** generation of correct subtypes and precise connections of projection neurons is imperative not only to support the basic cortical functions(such as sensory information integration,motor coordination,and cognition)but also to prevent the onset and progression of neurodevelopmental disorders(such as intellectual disability,autism spectrum disorders,anxiety,and depression).This review mainly focuses on the recent progress of transcriptional regulations on the development and diversity of neocortical projection neurons and the clinical relevance of the failure of transcriptional modulations.

Provenance of the Lower Jurassic pyroclastic sediments in the Zigui Basin:Implication for crustal thickening in the eastern Qinling orogenic belt

The Late Triassic witnessed significant collisional orogenic events in the Qinling orogenic belt,accompanied by magma underplating and tectonic *** processes potentially resulted in substantial crustal thickening and uplift of the Qinling ***,due to the absence of igneous rock records from this period in the eastern section of the Qinling orogen,the changes in crustal thickness during this orogenic process have not been thoroughly investigated.A series of foreland basins emerged during the Early Mesozoic to the south of the East Qinling orogenic *** basins have preserved clastic sedimentary rocks derived from the uplift and erosion of the orogenic *** sedimentary records serve as crucial records to reconstruct the evolutionary history of the Qinling *** further clarify the collisional orogenic process of the Qinling orogenic belt,this study conducted in situ volcanic lithic fragment geochemistry,detrital zircon U-Pb chronology and trace element composition analysis on the sandstones of the Lower Jurassic Tongzhuyuan Formation in the Zigui *** results suggest that the sandstones,which exhibit a significant abundance of volcanic lithic fragments,has a characteristic detrital zircon age group of 250–200 Ma,indicating a major provenance from the Triassic volcanic *** with regional correlation and paleocurrent analysis,the detrital zircon U-Pb age data show that the source area of volcanic rocks should be in the Qinling orogenic belt to the north of the *** interpretation is further supported by the Triassic granitic rocks exposed in the western part of the orogenic belt,representing the magmatism during the Triassic collisional orogenesis in the Qinling *** on the co-varying relationships between present-day crust thickness with the chemical compositions of granite rocks and zircons,the La/Yb ratio of volcanic lithic fragments in the Tongzhuyuan Formation and the Eu/Eu*ratio of detrital zircon

Ion and electron motions in the outer electron diffusion region of collisionless magnetic reconnection

Two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations are performed to study the coupling between ion and electron motions in collisionless magnetic *** electron diffusion region(EDR),where the electron motions are demagnetized,is found to have a two-layer structure:an inner EDR near the reconnection site and an outer EDR that is elongated to nearly 10 ion inertial lengths in the outflow *** the inner EDR,the speed of the electron outflow increases when the electrons move away from the X *** the outer EDR,the speed of the electron outflow first increases and then decreases until the electrons reach the boundary of the outer *** the boundary of the outer EDR,the magnetic field piles up and forms a depolarization *** the perspective of the fluid,a force analysis on the formation of electron and ion outflows has also been *** the X line,the electrons are accelerated by the reconnection electric field in the out-of-plane *** the electrons move away from the X line,we find that the Lorentz force converts the direction of the accelerated electrons to the x direction,forming an electron *** electric field forces and electron gradient forces tend to drag the electron *** acceleration along the x direction is caused by the Lorentz force,whereas the pressure gradient force tends to decelerate the ion *** these two terms are important,their effects on ions are almost *** Hall electric field force does positive work on ions and is not *** ions are continuously accelerated,and the ion and electron outflow velocities are almost the same near the depolarization front.

Atomistic mechanism of high ionic conductivity in lithium ytterbium-based halide solid electrolytes:A first-principles study

As the next generation of commercial automotive power batteries begins replacing liquid lithium batteries,many look towards all-solid-state batteries to pioneer the ***-so lid-state batteries have attracted the attention of countless researchers around the world because of their high safety and high energy *** recent times,halide solid-state electrolytes have become a research hotspot within solid-state electrolytes because of their potentially superior *** this paper,in the framework of DFT,we investigated the atomic mechanisms of improving the ionic conductivity and stability of Li_(3)YbCl_(6).Our calculations show that both trigonal and orthorhombic Li_(3)YbCl_(6) exhibit wide electrochemical windows and metastable properties(100 meV/atom>Ehull>0 meV/atom).However,the orthorhombic Li_(3)YbCl_(6) can be stabilized at high temperatures by taking the vibrational entropy into account,which is supported by the experimental ***,it is expected that because of the Yb/Li synergistic interactions that,due to their strong mutual coulomb repulsion,influence the Li^(+)transport behavior,the orthorhombic Li_(3)YbCl_(6) might have superior ionic conductivities with appropriate Li+migration paths determined by the Yb^(3+) ***,higher ionic conductivities can be obtained by regulating the random distribution of Li^(+) *** Li^(+)-deficiency can also largely increase the ionic conductivity by invoking *** study helps gain a deeper understanding of the laws that govern ionic conductivities and stabilities and provides a certain theoretical reference for the experimental development and design of halide solid-state electrolytes.

Design of weak current measurement system and research on temperature impact

A dedicated weak current measurement system was designed to measure the weak currents generated by the neutron ionization *** system incorporates a second-order low-pass filter circuit and the Kalman filtering algorithm to effectively filter out noise and minimize interference in the measurement *** conducted under normal temperature conditions has demonstrated the system's high precision ***,it was observed that temperature variations can affect the measurement *** were collected across temperatures ranging from -20 to 70℃,and a temperature correction model was established through linear regression fitting to address this *** feasibility of the temperature correction model was confirmed at temperatures of -5 and 40℃,where relative errors remained below 0.1% after applying the temperature *** research indicates that the designed measurement system exhibits excellent temperature adaptability and high precision,making it particularly suitable for measuring weak currents.

Optimal investment based on relative performance and weighted utility

This paper studies the optimal portfolio allocation of a fund manager when he bases decisions on both the absolute level of terminal relative performance and the change value of terminal relative performance comparison to a predefined reference point. We find the optimal investment strategy by maximizing a weighted average utility of a concave utility and an Sshaped utility via a concavification technique and the martingale method. Numerical results are carried out to show the impact of the extent to which the manager pays attention to the change of relative performance related to the reference point on the optimal terminal relative performance.
