Objective: To investigate the anti-colitic effects of diet containing seeds of buchholzia coriacea(b. coriacea) on acetic acid induced ulcerative colitis. Methods: Male Wistar rats(70-100 g) were fed with standard diets(control group) or with same diet containing b. coriacea seeds at 12.5% or 25% for six weeks. At the sixth week, colitis was induced by intra-rectal administration of 1 mL/200 g 6% acetic acid. Animals were sacrificed at days 0(before induction), 1, 3 and 7 post induction to assess disease severity via evaluation of stool consistency, haematological variables and histomorphometry of colon tissues. Results: A significant increase in body weight was observed in the 12.5% b. coriacea fed group compared to the control. b. coriacea significantly reduced stool consistency and microscopic scores. Histological evaluation revealed significantly decreased inflammatory aggregates in b. coriacea fed groups compared to control after colitis induction. There was a significant decrease in packed cell volume, red blood cell and haemoglobin concentration in the control group at day 1 post colitis induction compared to 12.5% b. coriacea fed groups. Neutrophils and white blood cell were also significantly increased after colitis induction in the control group while these were significantly decreased in the b. coriacea fed groups. Conclusions: The addition of b. coriacea seeds to diets promotes healing of acetic acid induced colitis by suppressing infiltration of inflammatory aggregates and ameliorating anemia.

Posterior instability of the shoulder is a rare condition and represents about 10% of shoulder instability. It has become more frequently recognized in the last year,even though it is more difficult to diagnose than anterior shoulder instability. As this form of shoulder pathology is somewhat rare,biomechanical knowledge is limited. The purpose of our study was to perform an extensive literature search,including PubMed and Medline,and to give an overview of the current knowledge on the biomechanics of posterior shoulder instability. The Pub Med/Medline databases were utilized,and all articles related to posterior shoulder instability and biomechanics were included to form a comprehensive compilation of current knowledge. A total of 93 articles were deemed relevant according to our inclusion and exclusion criteria. As expected with any newly acknowledged pathology,biomechanical studies on posterior shoulder instability remain limited in the literature. Current biomechanical models are performed in a static manner,which limits their translation for explaining a dynamic pathology. Newer models should incorporate dynamic stabiliza-tion of both the rotator cuff and scapulothoracic joint. There is a current lack of knowledge with regards to the pathomechanism of posterior shoulder instability,with no consensus on appropriate treatment regimens. Further investigation is therefore required at both basic science and clinical levels.

background and Objective: HIV, hepatitis b virus (HbV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are very widespread in the world, however, less than 20% of the people affected are diagnosed and treated. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of HIV, HCV and HbV co-infections in pregnant women at bangui Community University Hospital and the cost of screening. Methods: A cross-sectional study involving consenting pregnant women who came for antenatal care was performed. HIV, HCV antibodies and HbV antigens were detected using Exacto Triplex? HIV/HCV/HbsAg rapid test, cross-validated by ELISA tests. Sociodemographic and professional data, the modes of transmission and prevention of HIV and both hepatitis viruses were collected in a standard sheet and analyzed using the Epi-Info software version 7. Results: Pregnant women aged 15 to 24 were the most affected (45.3%);high school girls (46.0%), and pregnant women living in cohabitation (65.3%) were the most represented. Twenty-five (16.7%) worked in the formal sector, 12.7% were unemployed housewives and the remainder in the informal sector. The prevalence of HIV, HbV, and HCV viruses was 11.8%, 21.9% and 22.2%, respectively. The prevalence of co-infections was 8.6% for HIV-HbV, 10.2% for HIV-HCV, 14.7% for HbV-HCV and 6.5% for HIV-HbV-HCV. All positive results and 10% of negative results by the rapid test were confirmed by ELISA tests. The serology of the three viruses costs 39,000 FCFA (60 Euros) by ELISA compared to 10,000 FCFA (15.00 Euros) with Exacto Triplex? HIV/HCV/AgHbs (bioSynex, Strasbourg, France). Conclusion: The low level of education and awareness of hepatitis are barriers to development and indicate the importance of improving the literacy rate of women in the Central African Republic (CAR). Likewise, the high prevalence of the three viruses shows the need for the urgent establishment of a national program to combat viral hepatitis in the CAR.

Porous three-dimensional (3D) structures generally improve the performance of electrodes by increasing their active surface area and the diffusion speed of electrolyte ions during charging/*** polypyrrole (PPy) based films were created by electrodepositing PPy in the presence of varying amounts of chloride anions (Cl^(-)) and polyanionic ribbonlike nanoparticles (carboxylated cellulose nanocrystals (CNC-COO-)) as scaffold *** assembly mechanism of the 3D PPy electrodes combines the effect of different nucleation and growth mechanisms during electropolymerization and deposition of the formed PPy with CNC-COO-and with Cl^(-).The highest area capacitance of these electrode materials was 1.39 F cm^(-2)(150.2 F g^(-1)) at a current density of 1 m A cm^(-2)(0.1 A g^(-1)).More importantly,at a high current density of 20 m A cm^(-2)(2.2 A g^(-1)),the thick (ca.130μm),3D,and high mass loading(9.2 mg cm^(-2)) Cl^(-):CNC-COO-/PPy films exhibited an excellent areal capacitance of 0.85 F cm^(-2)(70.8 F g^(-1)),increasing about 16%over CNC-COO-/PPy films prepared without Cl^(-)present during *** addition,an aqueous Cl^(-):CNC-COO-/PPy (with Cl^(-):CNC-COO-=2.0) symmetric supercapacitor had an outstanding energy density of 41.15μWh cm^(-2)(4.46 Wh kg^(-1)) and excellent cycling stability,while even improving on its original areal capacitance (to 111.2%of its original capacitance) after cycling3000 cycles at 8 m A cm^(-2),indicating their potential in energy storage devices.

The occurrence of entomopathogenic nematodes(EPNs)in arable soil samples from Nigeria was investigated using baermann extraction tray and insect-bait(White’s trap)*** were tested for infectivity using the larvae of Galleria mellonella(greater moth)and Tenebrio molitor(mealworm).The study revealed a new species of Heterorhabditis(MT371593)in soil samples that were randomly collected from an arable farmland cultivated with cassava TMS-30572 at the Teaching and Research Farm of Landmark University,*** of the internal transcribed spacer region(ITS)of the ribosomal DNA produced a nucleotide sequence of 933 base pairs(bp).A bLASTN search of Genbank showed that the sequence of the Nigerian isolate is identical at 99%similarity to that of Heterorhabditis *** *** test of the isolate showed 100%mortality against *** larvae within 48 h of exposure while only 80%mortality was recorded for *** after 1 week of *** is the first account of Heterorhabditis *** *** varying degrees of infectivity against mealworm and greater moth observed in this study proved that the Nigerian isolate of Heterorhabditis *** potentially be an attractive option in the management of insect pests of cash crops.

Utilizing primary documents available at the George bush Presidential Library, this study evaluates the veto record of President bush using a case study as well as quantitative methods. The case study reviews the background and fate of the only veto overridden during his term in office. It finds that the bush White House had tried on several previous occasions to scrap the legislation, only to have it be reintroduced in each succeeding Congress. by 1992, when George bush was running for reelection and in trouble politically, his team was unable to stave off defeat. The article likewise assesses the success of the bush administration in its employment of the veto and compares the veto record of President bush to previous and subsequent chief executives.

Tapping declassified US Senate and Central Intelligence Agency reports, United Nations studies, and other primary sources, this study investigates the etiology, policies, and consequences of US detention policy as a part of the War on Terror. The record of the last two presidential administrations in dealing with detainees at Guantanamo bay Naval base in Cuba （GITMO） and elsewhere is examined and the legal rationale for the tactics used on those in captivity is scrutinized. The study reveals that although certain features of detention policy changed from the George W. bush administration to the barack Obama presidency, others remained the same. The benefits of information acquired from detainees is weighed and detention policy itself is evaluated according to fundamental American values.
