The treatment of microglial BV-2 cells with sodium arsenate（As（V）：0.1-400 μmol/L — 48 hr）induces a dose-dependent *** neurotoxic effects of high concentrations of As（V）（100,200 and 400 μmol/L） are characterized by increased levels of mitochondrial complexesⅠ,Ⅱ,and Ⅳ followed by increased superoxide anion ***,As（V） triggers an apoptotic mode of cell death,demonstrated by an apoptotic SubG1 peak,associated with an alteration of plasma membrane *** is also a decrease in transmembrane mitochondrial potential and mitochondrial adenosine triphosphate *** is therefore tempting to speculate that As（V） triggers mitochondrial dysfunction,which may lead to defective oxidative phosphorylation subsequently causing mitochondrial oxidative damage,which in turn induces an apoptotic mode of cell death.

In practical applications,relative humidity in the air is a key factor affecting the photocatalytic removal of NO,which is often overlooked in previous ***,we developed a direct Z-scheme UiO-66-NH_(2)/Bi_(2)MoO_(6)heterojunction with a nanoflower-like structure to systematically investigate the effect of relative humidity on photocatalytic removal of *** optimized heterojunction for the removal efficiency of NO was 71.6%at1.07 mg·m^(-3)NO concentration(relative humidity=10%),and the generation of NO_(2) was only 1.1%.Interestingly,with the increase in relative humidity,it showed a higher inhibition effect on NO_(2),while the removal of NO decreased slightly(8%),which might be attributed to the affinity effect of NO_(2) with water molecules and the competitive adsorption of H_(2)O and NO on the surface of the heterojunction ***,the reaction pathways of NO removal at the developed heterojunctions were revealed by in situ DRIFTS *** work provides a novel vision for the development of direct Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts to effectively remove NO and inhibit the formation of toxic intermediate NO_(2) under different humidities.

Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),the entire world has been affected by the epidemic[1,2].On November 9,2021,a variant of the novel coronavirus B.1.1.529 was detected for the first time from case samples in South *** Omicron strain spread and mutated significantly *** variant has the characteristics of escape immunity,which can induce relatively extreme disease and reduce the neutralization of antibodies in vaccinators,and is more likely to be reinfected[3,4].The clinical presentation of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARSCoV-2)in children has mild symptoms and a lower risk of hospitalization and death.

To the Editor: Neurofibromatosis type 1(NF-1), or Von Recklinghausen disease, is a genetic disorder inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern. It is caused by a mutation in the neurofibromin gene located on chromosome 17, accounting for 96% of all neurofibromatosis cases. This condition can affect multiple systems and often leads to the formation of tumors along the nervous system [1]. Patients with NF-1 may exhibit various symptoms, including Lisch nodules, neurofibromas, scoliosis, café au lait spots, learning disabilities, vision disorders, and epilepsy.

In the recent decade,GO has emerged as an amazing 2D nanomaterial for developing DNA-based biosensors due to its fluorescence quenching properties,whereas similar research based on rGO was reported ***,a novel multi-pyrene functionalized G-rich DNA probe based on the screened rGO showed much higher fluorescence quenching efficiency and excimer emission than that of universal *** from the universal thrombin detection of the G4-forming aptamer-TBA(GGTTGGTGTGGTTGG),the original telomeric sequence is used in this *** excimer emission“ON-OFF”switch amplified the response of thrombin detection is as low as 50 ***,for four pyrene moieties that are sited in a crowded steric circumstance,the melting temperature(T_(m))values and molecular dynamics simulations showed a positive effect on duplex G-quadruplex or _(G)DNA·_(c)DNA stability,without disturbing its helix structure.

A patch-based method for detecting vehicle logos using prior knowledge is *** representing the coarse region of the logo with the weight matrix of patch intensity and position,the proposed method is robust to bad and complex environmental *** bounding-box of the logo is extracted by a thershloding *** results show that 93.58% location accuracy is achieved with 1100 images under various environmental conditions,indicating that the proposed method is effective and suitable for the location of vehicle logo in practical applications.

Graphene has been extensively explored to enhance functional and mechanical properties of metalmatrix nanocomposites for wide-range applications due to their superior mechanical,electrical and thermal *** article discusses recent advances of key mechanisms,synthesis,manufacture,modelling and applications of graphene metal matrix *** main strengthening mechanisms include load transfer,Orowan cycle,thermal mismatch,and refinement *** technologies are discussed including some conventional methods(such as liquid metallurgy,powdermetallurgy,thermal spraying and deposition technology)and some advanced processing methods(such as molecular-level mixing and friction stir processing).Analytical modelling(including phenomenological models,semi-empirical models,homogenization models,and self-consistent model)and numerical simulations(including finite elements method,finite difference method,and boundary element method)have been discussed for understanding the interface bonding and performance characteristics between graphene and different metal matrices(Al,Cu,Mg,Ni).Key challenges in applying graphene as a reinforcing component for the metal matrix composites and the potential solutions as well as prospectives of future development and opportunities are highlighted.

Castration of male animals is a common practice in the meat industry aimed at reducing aggressive behavior, preventing unpleasant flavor, and controlling undesirable breeding. For many years, mechanical castration and surgical castration have been practiced to sterilize the animals. However, these castration methods are not humane because of the associated risk of death, pain, and stress. Recently, immunocastration targeting the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis(HPG) axis has been reported as an animal-friendly approach that circumvents many of the concerns with conventional castration, and suggested by researches as an alternative to surgical castration. However, there is no compilation of updated information on the use of immunocastration in sheep and goats. Therefore, this review aims to summarize the developmental process from traditional surgical castration to immunocastration and to screen the process of immune targets. It also compares the respective advantages and disadvantages of traditional castration technologies and immunocastration, in particular including analyses in the characteristics, features application and welfare benefits of immunocastration in sheep and goats were also analyzed.

Risk prediction models for biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomy using prostate-specific antigen and Gleason score

Many computer models for predicting the risk of prostate cancer have been developed including for prediction of biochemical recurrence （BCR）. However, models for individual BCR free probability at individual time-points after a BCR free period are rare. Follow-up data from 1656 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical prostatectomy （LRP） were used to develop an artificial neural network （ANN） to predict BCR and to compare it with a logistic regression （LR） model using clinical and pathologic parameters, prostate-specific antigen （PSA）, margin status （RO/1）, pathological stage （pT）, and Gleason Score （GS）. For individual BCR prediction at any given time after operation, additional ANN, and LR models were calculated every 6 months for up to 7.5 years of follow-up. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic （ROC） curve （AUC） for the ANN （0.754） and LR models （0.755） calculated immediately following LRP, were larger than that for GS （AUC： 0.715; P= 0.0015 and 0.001）, pT or PSA （AUC： 0.619; Palways 〈0.0001） alone. The GS predicted the BCR better than PSA （P = 0.0001）, but there was no difference between the ANN and LR models （P = 0.39）. Our ANN and LR models predicted individual BCR risk from radical prostatectomy for up to 10 years postoperative. ANN and LR models equally and significantly improved the prediction of BCR compared with PSA and GS alone. When the GS and ANN output values are combined, a more accurate BCR prediction is possible, especially in high-risk patients with GS ≥7.

BACKGROUND We studied the protective effects of Qingyi decoction(QYD)(a Traditional Chinese Medicine)against severe acute pancreatitis(SAP)-induced myocardial infarction(MI).AIM To study the function and mechanism of QYD in the treatment of myocardial injuries induced by *** Ultrasonic cardiography,hematoxylin and eosin staining,immunohistochemistry,qRT-PCR,western blot,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays,and apoptosis staining techniques were used to determine the effects of QYD following SAP-induced MI in Sprague-Dawley *** Our SAP model showed severe myocardial histological abnormalities and marked differences in the symptoms,mortality rate,and ultrasonic cardiography outputs among the different groups compared to the *** expression of serum cytokines[interleukin(IL)-1?,IL-6,IL-8,IL-12,amyloidβ,and tumor necrosis factor-α]were significantly higher in the SAP versus QYD treated group(P<0.05 for all).STIM1 and Orai1 expression in myocardial tissue extracts were significantly decreased post QYD gavage(P<0.001).There was no significant histological difference between the 2-aminoethyl diphenylborinate inhibitor and QYD *** SAP group had a significantly higher apoptosis index score compared to the QYD group(P<0.001).CONCLUSION QYD conferred cardio-protection against SAP-induced MI by regulating myocardial-associated protein expression(STIM1 and Orai1).
