Baculoviruses are effective biocontrol agents except of their short persistence under sunlight conditions. Four promising additives containing different groups of antioxidants were tested on cotton plant foliage. Spodoptera littoralis test insect and its nuclepolyhedrovirus （SpliNPV） are the standard material used in the investigation. Results are based on leaf-bioassays, to test Original Activity Remaining （OAR） and Lethal Infectivity Time to 50% （LIT50）of tested population of the virus after exposure to natural sunlight. The results showed that cacao additive at 10%, sustained 50% of virus activity for five days post application （113.11 hours） and three days and a half （83.33 hours） at 5% concentration. The virus alone treatment sustained 50% of its activity for only 24.07 hours. The obtained results suggested the possibility of prolonging the virus activity on plant foliage under field applications.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of different additives including biochar, effective micro-organisms (EM), animal manure and commercial microbial inoculants on the bioconversion of rice straw. Different compost piles were constructed, and each contained 50 kg of rice straw and mixture of natural rocks to enrich the compost nutritional value. The physical, chemical and biological parameters indicating the decomposition of organic material, maturation and quality of the organic fertilizer product were investigated during the composting process. A rapid increase in compost temperature was obtained in inoculated piles. All piles reached maturation after around 42 days. All analysis of the properties of the final compost products indicated that it was in the range of the matured level and can be used as organic fertilizer without limitation. The highest decomposition rate and highest organic fertilizer quality were obtained in the pile inoculated with EM and 10% biochar compared to other treatments.

Objectives:To determine the predictive value of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)in the diagnosis of septic shock and its association with other prognostic scores in critical pediatric ***:A cross-sectional study was performed at Children’s Hospital of Cairo University between June 2019 and December 2019.A total of 200 pediatric patients were divided into the septic shock group[100 critically ill patients with septic shock from the pediatric intensive care unit(PICU)]and the control group(100 patients with only sepsis).LDH was determined in the first 24 hours of *** sensitivity and specificity of LDH in diagnosis of septic shock were assessed;the levels of related indicators of patients with different etiologies were compared;correlations between LDH,Paediatric Index of MortalityⅡ,and Pediatric Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(pSOFA)were ***:Median LDH was 512μL(406.50-663.00)in the septic shock group and was significantly higher than that[190μL(160.00-264.50)]in the control group(Pelation was found between pSOFA and LDH(r=0.503,P<0.001).Conclusions:LDH could be a potential inflammatory marker in the diagnosis of septic shock and is valuable for PICU admission decisions.

Fruits of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) are consumed throughout the world and are a vital component of the diet in most Arabian countries. The effect of partial replacement of wheat flour with a 1:1 mixture of wheat bran and date palm fruit powder on rheological properties of the biscuit dough was studied. Levels of mixture used were 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%. Dough rheology (farinograph, extensograph properties) and biscuit quality (physical properties, colour, sensory evaluation) were assessed. Results obtained indicated that water absorption gradually increased by increasing the levels of wheat bran: palm date powder, meanwhile mixing tolerance index decreased. Dough stability, which indicates the dough strength, also found to decrease by increasing mixture of wheat bran and date powder (1:1). Furthermore, dough development time gradually increased by increasing the mixture at all levels. It was 6.04 min at level of 40% compared to the control (2.5 min). Extensograph results showed that dough energy and dough resistance to extension and proportional number also increased compared with control sample. The proportional number (R/E) ratios increased largely from 3.20 to 5.27 at the level of 40.0%. Ash and fibre contents gradually increased as the mixture levels increased. However, mineral content progressively increased by increasing the level of date powder in the mixture. Incorporation of wheat bran and date powder mixture decreased the spread of the biscuits from 55.66 to 52.82 mm without change in the thickness of the biscuits. Organoleptic properties revealed that quality of biscuits was acceptable at mixture level of 30%.

Correlation between Residual Renal Function and Hypertension in Regular Haemodialysis Patients

Objective: To evaluate the correlation between residual renal function and hypertension in regular haemodialysis patients. Background: Initiating chronic dialysis treatment gives end-stage renal disease patients a new lease on life. However, the annual mortality rate in dialysis patients is ~20% and quality of life is substantially reduced. Patients and Methods: This study was carried out on a reasonable number of subjects on regular haemodialysis divided into two groups. All were given informed consent and, the study was approved by the ethics committee of Menoufia University. Results: There was significant relation between presence of residual renal function and hypertension in patients with ESRD on regular haemodialysis, but the relation between residual renal function and control of hypertension is not statistically significant. 40% of group 1 were hypertensive, 66.7% of group 2 patients were hypertensive, the interdialytic weight gain mean was 1.42 in group 1 and 2.37 in group 2. Control of hypertension was achieved in 63.6% of group 1 patients by one drug, 27.3% patients by 2 drugs;however 9.1% of patients need 3 drugs to control their blood pressure, while in group 2 40% of patients were controlled by one drug, 45% with 2 drugs and 15% need 3 drugs to control blood pressure. Conclusion: There is significant relation between presence of residual renal function and hypertension in patients with ESRD on regular haemodialysis, but the relation between residual renal function and control of hypertension is not statistically significant.

Fosfomycin Therapy for Non-Complicated Lower Urinary Tract Infections during Pregnancy: Tanta University Experience

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy, compliance, safety and economic cost for Fosfomycin trometamol and Nitofurantoin in uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections during pregnancy. Background: Nitofurantoin and Fosfomycin trometamol are recommended as the first-line agents for treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in the latest guidelines endorsed by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). Fosfomycin is bactericidal and inhibits bacterial cell wall biogenesis and reduces bacterial adherence to uroepithelial cells. Fosfomycin has broad antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, as Escherichia coli, Escherichia faecalis, and various Gram-negatives like Citrobacter and Proteus. Both Nitofurantoin and Fosfomycin are category B in pregnancy. Patients and Methods: This study was conducted at Tanta University Hospitals in the period from June, 1, 2015 to January, 1, 2017. Patients were recruited from outpatient clinics of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Urology Departments presenting with asymptomatic bacteruria or cystitis. Patients were allocated randomly into 2 groups: group I (n = 50 cases) received Fosfomycin therapy and group II (n = 50 cases) received Nitofurantoin therapy (n = 50 cases). After treatment, evaluation of patient symptoms, organism count, patient compliance and cost of treatment were done. Results: The enrolled patients were suffering from lower urinary tract infections;asymptomatic bacteruria (17 cases) or cystitis (83 cases). Ten patients were excluded. The demographic data of included patients were not significant for both groups. Complete relief (100%) of symptoms 5 days after start of treatment was noticed in Fosfomycin group while improvement of symptoms after 5 day-treatment was noticed in 86.49% in Nitofurantoin group (p-value = 0.030). The side effects were recorded in 7 cases (18.42%) in Fosfomycin group

The paper presents a detailed analysis of ordinary and dark energy density of the cosmos based on two different but complimentary theories. First, and starting from the concept of the speed of light being an average over multi-fractals, we use Magueijo-Smolin’s ingenious revision of Einstein’s special relativity famous formula E = mc2 to a doubly special formula which includes the Planck energy as invariant to derive the ordinary energy density E(O) = mc2/22 and the dark energy density E(D) = mc2(21/22) wheremis the mass andcis the speed of light. Second we use the topological theory of pure gravity to reach the same result thus confirming the correctness of the theory of varying speed of light as well as the COBE, WMAP and Type 1a supernova cosmological measurements.

Minbar, in Islam, the pulpit from which the sermon (khutbah) is delivered. In its simplest form, the minbar is a platform with three steps. Often it is constructed as a domed box at the top of a staircase and is reached through a doorway that can be closed. Soliman pasha Al-Khadim mosque in salah el-Din citadel in Cairo is considered the first mosque with ottoman architectural style. This Minbar exposed to aggressive human intervention by mosque workers and archaeological crafts unity-ministry of antiquities in Egypt, to lose more of its historical and architectural values. Now this Minbar undergoes restoration process, they are removing all modern pigments and remains of last reconstruction in 2014 so we proposed some Nano particles and Nano composites for Preservation of it. The study started with the characteristics of the historic architectural elements of Mibars and their joining structural mortars in order to risk assessment and to define the necessary characteristics of the intervention retrofitting new materials, which will be used in the ongoing preservation work of these stucco architectural elements. To achieve such, several analyses and laboratory tests like ultra-sonic pulse method testing and uniaxial compression test were carried out to determine their basic, physical and mechanical properties, along with the microstructural properties determination using Mercury porosimeter. On the other hand, the morphological description, petrography, mineralogical and microstructural properties were determined using scanning electron microscope equipped by EDS, transmission electron microscopy TEM, polarizing light microscopy, XRD and XRF. The results proved the superiority of the samples that have been strengthened by nano lime concentration of 2% with Wacker OH 100 concentration in 5%.

Efficacy and safety of viscum fraxini-2 in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma:a phase Ⅱ study

Objective： New systemic therapies are needed to improve the prognosis of patients with advanced-stage hepatocellular carcinoma. The study was conducted to determine the efficacy and safety of viscum fraxini-2 in advanced Hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods： A phase II study with a two-stage design that enrolled a total of 120 patients with chemotherapy nai＇ve advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. The mistletoe preparation for the study is an aqueous injectable solution that contains one milliliter of viscum fraxini. Two ampoules of viscum fraxini were administered subcutaneously once weekly. Re- suits： Chronic hepatitis C virus infection was the predominant cause of liver disease （60%） in studied cases. According to the response evaluation criteria in solid tumors 24 patients （20%） achieved objective response （including 2 complete responses） and 40 patients （33.3%） achieved stable disease. The median progression free survival for all patients was 4 months （range 1-28 months; 95% CI 3.3：4.7 months）. The median overall survival for all patients was 8 months （range 1-28 months; 95% CI 6.3：9.7 months）. The median survival for patients who achieved responsive or stable disease was 16 months. The toxicity was generally mild and well tolerated, mainly in the form of local reaction and fever. There were no drug related discontinu- ation or toxic deaths. Conclusion： Viscum fraxini-2 is an effective, safe treatment for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. Further randomized controlled trials are recommended.

AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of intraoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography(ERCP) combined with laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC) forpatients with gall bladder stones(GS) and common bile duct stones(CBDS).METHODS: Patients treated for GS with CBDS were included. LC and intraoperative transcystic cholangiogram(TCC) were performed in most of the cases. Intraoperative ERCP was done for cases with proven ***: Eighty patients who had GS with CBDS were included. LC was successful in all cases. Intraoperative TCC revealed passed CBD stones in 4 cases so intraoperative ERCP was performed only in 76 patients. Intraoperative ERCP showed dilated CBD with stones in 64 cases(84.2%) where removal of stones were successful; passed stones in 6 cases(7.9%); short lower end stricture with small stones present in two cases(2.6%) which were treated by removal of stones with stent insertion; long stricture lower 1/3 CBD in one case(1.3%) which was treated by open hepaticojejunostomy; and one case(1.3%) was proved to be ampullary carcinoma and whipple's operation was scheduled. CONCLUSION: The hepatobiliary surgeon should be trained on ERCP as the third hand to expand his field of therapeutic options.
