A hybrid constriction coefficientbased particle swarm optimization and gravitational search algorithm for training multi-layer perceptron

Purpose-In this paper,a newly proposed hybridization algorithm namely constriction coefficient-based particle swarm optimization and gravitational search algorithm(CPSOGSA)has been employed for training MLP to overcome sensitivity to initialization,premature convergence,and stagnation in local optima problems of ***/methodology/approach-In this study,the exploration of the search space is carried out by gravitational search algorithm(GSA)and optimization of candidate solutions,*** is performed by particle swarm optimization(PSO).For training the multi-layer perceptron(MLP),CPSOGSA uses sigmoid fitness function for finding the proper combination of connection weights and neural biases to minimize the ***,a matrix encoding strategy is utilized for providing one to one correspondence between weights and biases of MLP and agents of ***-The experimental findings convey that CPSOGSA is a better MLP trainer as compared to other stochastic algorithms because it provides superior results in terms of resolving stagnation in local optima and convergence speed ***,it gives the best results for breast cancer,heart,sine function and sigmoid function datasets as compared to other participating ***,CPSOGSA also provides very competitive results for other ***/value-The CPSOGSA performed effectively in overcoming stagnation in local optima problem and increasing the overall convergence speed of ***,CPSOGSA is a hybrid optimization algorithm which has powerful characteristics of global exploration capability and high local exploitation *** the research literature,a little work is available where CPSO and GSA have been utilized for training *** only related research paper was given by Mirjalili et al.,in *** have used standard PSO and GSA for training simple ***,the work employed only three datasets and used the MSE performance metric for evaluating the efficiency

We investigated spinel chalcogenides HgLa_(2)(S/Se)_(4)by using density function theory,and scrutinized the structural,optical,electrical,mechanical and thermoelectric transport characteristics of HgLa_(2)(S/Se)_(4)spinel *** enthalpy of formation,energy of cohesion,and energy volume optimum plots were used to obtain the stability as well as the perfect ground state of these *** ductility of these materials was the best illustrated with the help of Poisson's and Pugh's *** band gap results were obtained using Trans and Blaha modified Becke-Johanson potential(TB-mBJ).Both the materials present semi-conducting nature with direct band gap equal to 1.449 and 0.892 eV respectively for HgLa_(2)S_(4)and HgLa_(2)Se_(4).Calculations were also made for optical characteristics with the values of dielectric function,absorption coefficient,optical conductivity,reflectivity,and refractive *** to the findings,both of these materials are suitable for infrared optoelectronic *** materials were found to have promising optoelectronic and thermoelectric applications after their optical properties and transport aspects were *** tiny levels of temperature conductivities,substantial am ounts of power conductivities,the figure of merit(more than unity),as well as Seebecs coefficients all point to the potential use of both the materials in thermoelectric power generators.

Uncertainty Analysis of Wind-Wave Predictions in Lake Michigan

With all the improvement in wave and hydrodynamics numerical models, the question rises in our mind that how the accuracy of the forcing functions and their input can affect the results. In this paper, a commonly used numerical third-generation wave model, SWAN is applied to predict waves in Lake Michigan. Wind data are analyzed to determine wind variation frequency over Lake Michigan. Wave predictions uncertainty due to wind local effects are compared during a period where wind has a fairly constant speed and direction over the northern and southern basins. The study shows that despite model calibration in Lake Michigan area, the model deficiency arises from ignoring wind effects in small scales. Wave prediction also emphasizes that small scale turbulence in meteorological forces can increase prediction errors by 38%. Wave frequency and coherence analysis show that both models can predict the wave variation time scale with the same accuracy. Insufficient number of meteorological stations can result in neglecting local wind effects and discrepancies in current predictions. The uncertainty of wave numerical models due to input uncertainties and model principals should be taken into account for design risk factors.

Some LpInequalities for B-Operators

If P(z) is a polynomial of degree at most n having all its zeros in , then it was recently claimed by Shah and Liman ([1], estimates for the family of $B$-operators, Operators and Matrices, (2011), 79-87) that for every?R≧1, p ≧ 1, where B is a Bn-operator with parameters in the sense of Rahman [2], and . Unfortunately the proof of this result is not correct. In this paper, we present certain more general sharp Lp-inequalities for Bn-operators which not only provide a correct proof of the above inequality as a special case but also extend them for 0≦p﹤1 as well.

Comparative field performance of some agricultural crops under a canopy of Populus deltoides and Ulmus wallichiana

The performance of maize, beans and sunflower was evalu- ated under a canopy ofPopulus deltoides and Ulmus wallichiana at Fac- ulty of Agriculture, Wadura. The germination, growth and yield of the three test crops were suppressed under both tree species. The reduction, however, decreased when the cultivation of test crops was continued for three years. The inhibition potential generally is in the order of P del- toides 〈 U. wallichiana for maize and sunflower and P. deltoides 〉 U. wallichiana for beans. Available soil N, P and K increased under the canopy of the selected tree species. The soils under U. wallichiana were more fertile than those under P deltoides. Chromatographic investigation of extracts showed that the soils under P deltoides and U. wallichiana differed in their composition of phenolic acids and phenolic glycocides. Except for caffic acid, all other allelochemicals disappeared and were no longer recovered in soil samples obtained after the second or third year of cultivation. Tree-crop compatibility can be explored in greater detail for improved management of traditional agro-ecosystems in Kashmir to increase the overall productivity of the land.

Unexpected Effect of Nb Addition as a Microalloying Element on Mechanical Properties of δ-TRIP Steels

The concept of microalloying was applied to the δ-TRIP （transformation-induced plasticity） steel to inves- tigate the feasibility of increasing the mechanical properties and understanding the effect of microalloying on the morphology and structure of the steel. A hot rolled δ-TRIP steel with three different contents of Nb （0, 0.03, 0.07 mass%） was subjected to the microstructural and mechanical examination. The high Al and Si concentration in these steels guaranteed the presence of the considerable δ-ferrite phase in the microstructure after the casting and the subsequent hot rolling. The obtained results showed that Nb dramatically affects the microstructure the dynamic re- covery and recrystallization behavior, as well as the grain shape and thus the stability of austenite after the thermo- mechanical process of hot rolling. The results also revealed an unexpected effect of Nb on the mechanical properties. The addition of Nb to the δ-TRIP steel led to a significant decrease in the ultimate strength （from 1144 to 917 MPa） and an increase in ductility （from 24% to 28%）. These unconventional results could be explained by the change in the steel microstructure. The work-hardening＇behaviors of all samples exhibit three stages of the work-hardening rate evolution. At the stage 2, the work-hardening rate of the studied steels increased, being attributed to the TRIP effect and the transformation of austenite to martensite.

The overwhelming use of rat models in nerve regeneration studies is likely to induce skewness in treatment *** address the problem,this study was conducted in 8 adult guinea pigs of either sex to investigate the suitability of guinea pig as an alternative model for nerve regeneration studies.A crush injury was inflicted to the sciatic nerve of the left limb,which led to significant decrease in the pain perception and neurorecovery up to the 4th *** of foot print and shortening of toe spread were observed in the paw after nerve injury.A 3.49 ± 0.35 fold increase in expression of neuropilin 1（NRP1） gene and 2.09 ± 0.51 fold increase in neuropilin 2（NRP2） gene were recorded 1 week after nerve injury as compared to the normal *** of gastrocnemius muscle weight and volume of the experimental limb to control limb showed more than 50% decrease on the 30 th ***,vacuolated appearance of the nerve was observed with presence of degenerated myelin debris in digestion *** muscle also showed degenerative *** electron microscopy revealed loose and rough arrangement of connective tissue fibrils and presence of large spherical globules in crushed sciatic *** findings suggest that guinea pigs could be used as an alternative animal model for nerve regeneration studies and might be preferred over rats due to their cooperative nature while recording different parameters.

The Acoustic Performance of 3D Printed Multiple Jet Nozzles with DifferentConfigurations

This work investigated multiple jet nozzles with various geometrical shape,number of exits,and material on reducing noise radiated from jet *** are categorized in two groups with few and many exit numbers,each with various exit shapes,slot and circular,and ***,nozzles are designed and then fabricated by a 3D printer,Form Labs,Form2USA,with polymeric ***,the nozzle with the most noise reduction made of stainless *** and air thrust were measured at three air pressure gauges,3,5,7 BAR and directions from nozzle apex,30°,90°,135°.Nozzles with slot exit shape made of both plastic and stainless steel revealed the most noise reduction among all nozzles with few exit numbers,nearly 11–14 dB(A)and 11.5–15 dB(A),*** average,slotted nozzle noise reduction was nearly 5–6 dB(A)more than finned ***,nozzles with more exit numbers,finned and finned-central exit,illustrated much more noise reduction than nozzles with few exit numbers,by almost 16–18 dB(A),they represented similar *** tested nozzles and open pipe demonstrated equal air thrust at each pressure *** nozzles with slotted exit shape,either plastic or stainless steel,can provide reasonable noise reduction in comparison to other configuration with few exit *** contrast,nozzles with more exit numbers demonstrated the most noise reduction.

Electrostatic Rayleigh-Taylor Mode in Electron-Positron-Ion Quantum Plasma

Electrostatic Rayleigh-Taylor (ERT) mode/instability is studied in a non-uni-form quantum magnetoplasma, whose constituents are electrons and positrons with fraction of ions. The effects of quantum corrections (i.e. Bohm potential and temperature degeneracy) and magnetic field on ERT mode are investigated with astrophysical plasma application. A generalized dispersion relation is deduced under the drift wave approximation. The presence of positron makes the dispersion relation a cubic equation. Different roots of both real and imaginary parts of the RT mode are examined by applying the Cardano’s method of solving the cubic equation. The dispersion relation and the growth rates of RT instability are examined both analytically and numerically with effects of electron and positron density, and magnetic field variations. It is shown that the magnetic field and positron density have stabilizing effectuates on ERT mode while due to electron density the mode becomes unstable. The present work is antici-pated to be of physical relevance in the studies of laboratory laser-produced plasmas as well as in the study of compact magnetized astrophysical objects like white dwarfs.

Influence of replacement of wheat flour by rice flour on rheo-structural changes, in vitro starch digestibility and consumer acceptability of low-gluten pretzels

This study aimed to access the influence of rice flour incorporation on various quality attributes of low-gluten wheat-based pretzels viz., functional, rheological, starch digestibility, color, textural and sensorial properties. Significant increase in swelling power (18.33 ± 0.51) and bulk density (0.58 ± 0.04) was observed in flour blend upon incorporation of rice flour, whereas, significant decrease in oil absorption capacity (0.62 ± 0.09), solubility index (6.72 ± 0.17), foaming capacity (9.67 ± 0.34), and foaming stability (3.39 ± 0.15) was recorded. Pasting properties of samples were studied using a Rapid Visco Analyser which indicated that all the pasting properties increased with an increase in rice flour incorporation. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic studies revealed no difference in the basic functional groups of flour blend upon the incorporation of rice flour, however, it had a pronounced effect on elastic modulus (G′) of flour blend. In vitro starch digestion characteristics revealed 7.23% surge in slowly digestible starch and 13.36% reduction in rapidly digestible starch of developed low-gluten pretzels upon the incorporation of rice flour. Apparent amylose content (27.3 ± 1.45) and resistant starch content (6.12 ± 0.97) increased and starch digestibility index (69.87 ± 1.72) decreased in developed low-gluten pretzels. In conclusion, the developed low-gluten pretzels had significantly (p < 0.05) higher mineral profile and lightness (L*) and lower breaking strength in addition to having better overall acceptability. This study indicated that substituting wheat flour with rice flour up to a level of 35% affected the quality attributes of developed low-gluten pretzels.
