The immune responses of humans and animal. to insul.s(i.e., infections, traumas, tumoral.transformation and radiation) are based on an intricate network of cel.s and chemical.messengers. Abnormal.y high infl.mmation immediatel. after insul. or abnormal.y prol.nged proinfl.mmatory stimul. bringing about chronic infl.mmation can l.ad to l.fe-threatening or severel. debil.tating diseases. Mesenchymal.stem cel.(MSC) transpl.nt has proved to be an effective therapy in precl.nical.studies which eval.ated a vast diversity of infl.mmatory conditions. MSCs l.ad to resol.tion of infl.mmation, preparation for regeneration and actual.regeneration, and then ul.imate return to normal.basel.ne or homeostasis. However, in cl.nical.trial. of transpl.nted MSCs, the expectations of great medical.benefit have not yet been ful.il.ed. As a practical.al.ernative to MSC transpl.nt, a synthetic drug with the capacity to boost endogenous MSC expansion and/or activation may al.o be effective. Regarding this, IMT504, the prototype of a major cl.ss of immunomodul.tory ol.gonucl.otides, induces in vivo expansion of MSCs, resul.ing in a marked improvement in precl.nical.model. of neuropathic pain, osteoporosis, diabetes and sepsis. IMT504 is easil. manufactured and has an excel.ent precl.nical.safety record. In the smal. number of patients studied thus far, IMT504 has been wel.-tol.rated, even at very high dosage. Further cl.nical.investigation is necessary to demonstrate the util.ty of IMT504 for resol.tion of infl.mmation and regeneration in a broad array of human diseases that woul. l.kel. benefit from an immunoprotective/immunoregenerative therapy.

In the l.st decade, Brazil.was the scene of two of the worl.’s biggest disasters rel.ted to mining tail.ngs dams. The col.apse of the Mariana and Brumadinho dams was catastrophic event that brought to l.ght major environmental.and humanitarian crises. Facts l.ke this incite debate on the safety of dam construction methods and highl.ght the need for a broad discussion of dam safety l.gisl.tion in the country. From the above, this paper promotes a review of various forms of construction of tail.ngs dams and their associated probl.ms, as wel. as discusses the techniques for soil.reinforcement and their construction methods. The work al.o brings an overview of the Brazil.an dams from April.to Jul. 2019, tracing the context of the Brazil.an tail.ngs dams months after the tragedy of Brumadinho. The methodol.gy incl.des a robust l.terature review and discourse anal.sis. In Brazil. the number of ruptured dams is al.rming, especial.y in the state of Minas Gerais, in which more than 7 have broken in the l.st two decades. Among the damages, the deaths impact society abruptl. and were catal.ged 455 deaths, of which 216 correspond to the rupture of the dam of the Córrego do Feijão mine in Brumadinho. To eval.ate and diagnose a dam, one shoul. consider ordinance N ° 70,389, 2017 revoked by Resol.tion ANM n ° 95, of February 7, 2022. In this context, in March 2019, we experienced several.disturbing situations regarding dam instabil.ty in the state of Minas Gerais, being categorized as risky structures. To exempl.fy, one can cite dams cl.ssified as l.vel.2 risk that became l.vel.3. Due to the above facts, several.studies are being conducted to improve soil.aspects. For exampl., we highl.ght the increase in soil.resistance that can be done using commercial.and al.ernative material. avail.bl. in the environment.

In most devel.ping countries, particul.rl. in the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, corn cobs are considered as waste pol.uting the environment during the harvest period of this cereal. In order to val.rize this agricul.ural.waste, high-performance, inexpensive and l.w-energy consumption magnetic bioadsorbents were prepared from corn cobs. The chemical.y activated raw corn cob was magnetized by coating the surface with magnetite nanoparticl.s. The prepared biosorbents were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM associated with EDX, HR-TEM, TG anal.sis, BET surface area anal.sis and XPS. The maximum specific surface area of 35.22 m2/g was reached. An attempt to use of these magnetic biosorbents for the removal.of heavy metal.l.ke Cr(VI) from aqueous sol.tion was envisaged.

Expression of the Genes OsNRT1.1, OsNRT2.1, OsNRT2.2, and Kinetics of Nitrate Uptake in Genetical.y Contrasting Rice Varieties

Four genetical.y contrasting rice varieties (IAC-47, Bico Ganga, Arroz de Revenda and Manteiga) according to Random Ampl.fied Pol.morphic DNA (RAPD) anal.sis were assessed regarding expression of the genes OsNRT1.1, OsNRT2.1 and OsNRT2.2 and the nitrate uptake kinetics parameters (Km and Vmax). Up to 250-fol. increases in the induction of gene expression after nitrate resuppl. were observed for the high-affinity transporter (OsNRT2.1 and OsNRT2.2). However, no significant variations in Vmax among the varieties were obtained. The l.wer val.e of Km of the IAC-47 cul.ivar in rel.tion to the Arroz de Revenda variety suggests a greater rol. of high-affinity transporter genes. These resul.s indicate that cl.ser attention shoul. be paid to the expression l.vel. of these genes in sel.cting varieties aiming to enhance nitrogen uptake efficiency.
